Mobile link to paint shop

i think that an app that allows you to customise your cars paint jobs would be absolutely outrageous!! because it could allow the player to create the looks they want with a more accurate precision of control. because think about it your ability to be creative is more limited when you have to mold the images with the controller and only a few preset shaping functions. but with a touch screen and a finger or better yet a stylus you have alot more freedom to edit however you choose. and im pretty sure all the preset decals in the game were created using a limitless photoshop. i bet im one of millions whome would love it to no end. it wouldnt even be that hard to link an already existant editing program to the game via to the already live network. you could even hit up one of the known providers of any of the image editing app distributors. theres bound to be one that leap at the opportunity to gain status quo through such a joining. just food for thought. i would most definatly get that app even if i had buy it.

I think the idea was that it is almost impossible to use copyright images using shapes to draw with.

I’ve never used anything like photoshop but I do recognise that Forza’s Editor is a basic tool in comparison to what’s out there. And yet if you search through many of the threads in the Paint Booth section you’ll find plenty of people whose “ability to be creative” has not in any way been “limited” by using it.

Back in the days of FM2 we only had a third of the layers that are available today but still, from logos/decals to photo real images and everything in between, there’s not much over the years I haven’t seen in the game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there isn’t room for improvement - the Horizon Editor is woefully slow compared to FM7’s for example - but for me, the challenge makes it rewarding. Each to their own but personally, the more that degree of difficulty is removed the less interest I would have in it.

you realy saying you would not have interest in the infinate potential of freehand? not to mention less wear on your controller…

I don’t think they will ever allow a free form graphic editor. Although it is quite difficult to make a great design, I find it a challenging part of game. I’m sure the initial thought of the developers on the graphics for any racing game was just to allow people to add stripes and things to make the car your own. But some very talented (and patient) people took it to a whole new level. It is truly amazing what some people do. I also find it cumbersome to use the controller for complex designs. But since putting FH4 on my PC, it has become much quicker and easier (I do most graphics on the PC and race on the console). I’m not nearly as talented or artistic as most, but have been able to create some fairly decent designs.

With Gran Turismo Sport allowing the import of vector graphic files, which can be created by applications like Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape, I don’t really see why Forza could not do the same. Since the graphics are scalable in the same way as the Forza vinyl editor primitives, it should be possible for the two paradigms to be used in combination.

All images will work on 3D models, even photoshop images (which are already higher resolution than the Playground Games editor). Playground Games made a deliberate choice not to use copyright material on their cars, and that’s why you have to use shapes.
