I tried to get into playing some online racing in FH2 again the other day and just could make myself enjoy it. I’ve said before about how the lack of any real multiplayer options kill online for me, but I started to notice something just as bad, the circuits you race on. FH2 has such a great map to drive around but most often, instead of utilizing the twists and turns of the city streets, or the open stretches of highways, the races feel like someone just plopped down checkpoints to drive to across open country. FH1 didn’t have nearly as good a map, but the racing felt better because they used the roads and layout of the area to construct well defined, well laid out circuits. It felt like racing. 90% of the races I’ve played online in FH2 have just felt like mad dashes from A to B to C, and the racing has suffered terribly. They designed this highly detailed network of roads but then set the races to take place in the open areas around them. To me this doesn’t make sense and really hurts the game. FH is one of my favorite games of all time. I hope when they make FH3, they go back to the original’s design model.
Have to say I actually prefer most of the circuits in FH2 to the ones in FH, some of the circuits in the first game felt way to confined.
People cried out for a more open map and more open races and that is what they got.
I would like the tracks to remain, give us more of each type and give us options in SP and MP which types of races we want to do.
I would like the game less without the cross country events.
^ Agreed. The tracks are much wider and I find myself wishing for anti griefing off all the time much less in this game. Less wallriding opportunities too.
