I don't know what i'm doing wrong

I’ve tuned a 2018 Civic Type R to A class and it does 03:35:265 around Laguna Seca. I feel as though the car is as quick as I can make it, and no other car I’ve tuned so far can beat it. However I go online in the A class hopper and I can’t ever seem to keep up with the top 5 or so no matter what track it is (haven’t gotten lucky enough to race Laguna Seca online yet though). I don’t think it’s my driving as I set 2 world records in FH3 and many more 2nd place rival entries. I also have an average finishing position of 2nd in FH3 online, so i know i can drive and have been doing entry level rallycross IRL for many years, yet I cannot seem to fathom how to make a quick enough car in FM7. I know I need to make different builds for different tracks, but even on tracks I’d think would require similar cars to Laguna Seca I seem to be going slow. I’m wondering what times other people have been setting on Laguna Seca in A class as well, seeing as the rivals mode is no longer track and class specific and i can’t look it up there.

I need help!

Your best bet for good lap time compares is to go with Homologated builds & LBs using Free Play. Build the 2018 Civic to those requirements (C500). Or, get some Homologated divisions that get very close to top of A-class. Then, go to Free Play and you’ll see times top drivers get at Laguna Seca. For open classes, these are all combined into an overall LB which is useless IMO.

Being quick in a Horizon game does not mean you will be quick in a Motorsport game. They are two entirely different games.

Think about what assists you are using.

How’s your time on Laguna Seca as compared with the fastest time on the LB?

In order to finish on the podium in multiplayer you need to be in the ballpark of 3-4 secs slower at most.

Also check your best time as compared to the fastest time with the Civic on the LB. Try out the fastest shared tune on the LB to compare with your to see if you have any build or tune issues.

Other than that it’s probably skill or missing practice as compared to the fastest guys.

I am the oppsite, I am fast in fm7 and dont know how guy are going to fast in fh3.

I think for you, you should know that you need a good car in fm7, not just any car built will do. That car is not the best or is ok at best. It is more about the car and tune than the build compared to FH3.

AWD is not so good in fm7 and upgrading lots of classes and having huge power is not the way of fm7 mostly.

AWD takes up too much time in FM7 to be competitive. Only some tracks and conditions suit it.
