Hey all, been playing motorsport since early release. I got my skill rating up to S-4100 (not really a brag, I know), but a few races further down the line and a few times of getting rammed off track later, my skill rating dropped to A-3600. I have done about 10 races since, mostly clean apart from some typical Turn 1 carnage, sticked to the driving line as much as possible, raced as clean as possible (but still got rammed into or got penalties for a car spinning around the track which was ghosted but un-ghosted at the precise moment I want to drive through it, we’ve all been there), my skill and safety rating are still around A-3600. What can I do to get this up? What gets taken into account for skill rating? What gets taken into account for safety rating? Should I just start at the back, give everyone a head start, and drive a couple races non-competitively? Like, what do I need to do to get it back to S-4100 or higher?
One of the things that will affect your skill rating is penalties, so don’t get any penalties, avoid contact as much as possible and don’t cut the corners or you’ll get a penalty. Also try to get near the podium if you can. You can tune your car and upgrade it for racing.
I am familiar with upgrading an tuning. But I’m simply not the best racer. I only had less than 5 podium finishes in the last 3 months. (In multiplayer I mean).
Well, the are 2 ways that i can recommend you get better:
1- start a race in free play mode with AI set to highest difficulty possible and start a 1v1 battle at any track.
2- go into multi-player over and over again to get to a pro level. You know what they say, repeating is a great way to learn. Fail and fail until you succeed 
From my experience it helps when you qualify too. Last weeks I always ran it and finished mostly in the top 5 with a couple of wins. My rating climed from ~4300 to ~4900.
Since then I had a couple of races where I diddn’t qualify and didn’t finish that strong (mostly between 10 and 5 with the odd podium and win) but my rating dropped back to 4800-4850.
