How do you like the open wheel race cars ?

The game has been out for a while now? What are your thoughts on them now? Are they big online? Do you like hot lapping them? Has it pulled you away from F1 2013? exc…

i dont much care for them. some people thing they are glued to the ground so they dont have to slow for the corners. they play it like and old school arcade racer and are determined they are going to pass you on the inside on the corner since you were stupid enough to slow down. they pin you into the wall interlocking the wheels together. then they start screaming at you to get off them like you can drive the the wall they cant drive thru either. by the time you explain to them they pinned you and you cant do anything without cooperation, that you both have to accelerate slowly and them move off you to unlock the wheels you are a lap down. its not the cars fault as much as other drivers. yes you have to slow for hairpins even in open wheel thats why they do it in real life. forza is not pole position.

They are great to drive in the correct situation and company.

Driving an Indy car around Long Beach is great fun. Around Silverstone sucks.

The E21 around most tracks is fantastic, especially Spa and Catalunya.

The 70s F1 are good on the GP tracks mainly, but can be fun on others.

Unfortunately though, in my experience its a waste of time bothering with them unless you have enough people on your Friends list to set up a private lobby.

Who you callin’ a HOE?

Ok I will answer your questions ie where you have a question mark.

Yes the game has been out a while.

I like them. They are something different and there is variety amongst them. But I think they need to be separated by type. I don’t want the Indycars competing againt the Lotus E21 and so on.

No they are not big online - they are the same size as they are in single player. (serious answer is I have no idea given up until now I have only raced the middle classes.)

I love hotlapping in them but once again would prefer they are all on separate leaderbaords.

The E21 is too easy to drive once tuned well. The F1 games are more of a challenge to get quick laps. I skipped F1 2013 and am waiting for a next gen F1 game.

I was very excited to here they were coming to Forza but when MS put out an underpowered next gen system I didn’t upgrade : ( . Somehow the Forza community never seemed to big on race cars. But for many people with the right friends it is a big bonus to the series.

I like them a lot if we get some more DLC I hope that we get at least a couple more.

I’d like to see more historic F1 in Forza.

I love them

Totally agree hopefully a couple more will show up if we get some more DLC. If not I hope they have more then two of them in Forza 6.

Xbox One isn’t “next-gen.” Neither is PS4. They’re “current-gen.” 360 and PS3 are last-gen. “Next” implies that they aren’t here yet, that they’re upcoming consoles from an upcoming generation, but they’re here now.

I love the open wheel race cars

I don’t play online at all, so none of that other stuff mentioned makes the slightest difference to me.

Other than the f1 and Indy, I am absolutely in love with the open wheel track toys.
(Caterham, lotus 2 eleven, etc)

In fact the KTM X-bow is my favorite car in the game.

I think adding open wheel cars is a great move, as it adds much more variety to the Forza series, and I hope there are many more in the future.

I would die to see the Bac Mono appear in the next car pack.

I would also love to see the new ferrari f1 car which probably will never happen.

Indy cars need their own lobby similar to GT.

The E21 Lotus is way too easy.
The Indy Cars, too.
The braking is insanely simple and so is the throttle and turning, even with all assists off.

I prefer F1 2013 when it comes to the Formula cars. Even that game is pretty simple, but it’s much better than Forza’s.

It’s difficult to complain. There were countless threads and wish list posts begging and pleading for open-wheeled racers and … well … here they are.

X class is both competitive and not competitive at the moment. Let me explain.

I found some good tunes for the E21 so decided to hotlap every track. After a few runs I decided my target was top 100 at every track. I achieved that a few weeks back. Since then I had been knocked down to positions as low as 130.

Since then I have managed to get back into top 100 and in some cases cut another second off my time. But then get knocked out of top 100 again. So it is active.

But there is a wide gap between position 1 and position 100 still. So from that point a top 100 is not as good as it would be in FM4 terms.

I always drive with all assists off/sim steering, therefore finding the F1 cars noncompetitive in almost all cases. I finally decided to turn the TCS and manual (no clutch) on to finally get around the track somewhat quickly and they are amazing! How late you can brake into the corner is unbelievable, the grip = bananas. I honestly felt like I was cheating by turning TCS on and letting the computer do my clutching, but I figure real F1 drivers have so many aids helping them so mine aren’t too bad

Having driven the Mercedes AMG F1 simulator at their base at Brackley, the E21 is about as far away as possible from what I felt that day. Genuinely feels like the track is constantly wet when you touch the power whereas when I got on the power in the Merc sim, the car really hunkered down and gripped. Think that got it quite wrong in that respect.

Kinda spoils my enjoyment of the other stuff too to be honest.

I read a post on the tuning forums where BryceMW mentioned he tuned the gears in the F1 to make it easier to drive without traction control. May or may not be realistic but it has worked for him.
