How do you deal with players in cars who deliberately crash into you?

Any tips on maintaining a race while competitors are constantly try to crash you off the track. This takes place in the car show meet ups so I can’t turn off collisions. I’ve tried having a truck in that class to use the extra weight to hold my ground. Obviously most of the trucks can’t keep up with a smaller car in the same class. Any suggestions, a really good truck or heavy car that can still compete?

Best truck opinions or best heavy cars? Thanks in advance.

They can’t crash into you if you are too far in front

If they are trying to side swipe steer into it.

Try running a fast lower class cars at showdowns so you get to start first. Also think about using a well tuned rally car or similar (natural awd) to get a good launch to give that extra bit of lead.

In short the key to showdowns is try to become as quick a driver as possible and start in a lower class car that is quick (lap time wise).

WRX 05 in A class tune by BIG W0RM 80 is my suggestion for all tracks (the 0 in W0RM is a zero).

Well with that recommendation everyone will use the same car Haha.
Advantage lost.

Rammers aren’t looking for that advice, nor are they looking for something in a class. They are usually driving an s2 beast that they need help driving.

You still need to be able to drive the car, it’s not very often that you find a rammer also has the skill needed to drive the car.

My advice would be to just play with friends. I just get too upset with wreckers to play with random people online. Find a group of like-minded racers and try to just play with them as much as you can. The forum here is a great place to make new racing pals.

I drive faster when there are crashers in the room, and I never let it get the best of me…it’s a rough game, when it’s red versus blue you had better expect the other color too mess you up…otherwise why would there be team races ? mind you it is a bit irritating when your own team bashes you around just cause they wanna be first…SatNite says it best, run a low class quick and nimble car…and drive like you stole it, when racing showdowns

Thanks to all of you for the replies. I already practice the art of lower class nimble and quick vs S2 and X. I guess I will have to refine my skills with those cars. I will take all the tips into my gameplay. Thanks people.

I have seen way too many people claim to know how to play yet they drive down the centre of the track.

Make sure you use the full width. If you have a right hand turn coming up make sure you are as far left as possible before the turn in as this will allow you to carry the most speed through the turn.

Plan ahead. If you have a double right you need to stay wide. If you have a right left then you need to try exit narrow or at least give yourself enough time to get wide for the 2nd turn of the sequence.

Make full use of the full width of the track.

I try to hang back and let drivers make mistakes dont be afraid to let off the tnrottle also i find handling for me is much more important than speed thats just me but you will find people that their intent is to cause havok and not race, also you can find racers in this forum who race clean but accide ts will happen thats just the way the game is made")

Simple: I’ve accumulated a friends list of respectful drivers (some of the fastest, some of the slowest and plenty who fall in between) and invite them into a private lobby for some good, clean racing. If anyone decides to get reckless, I give them the boot.

I report and block the wrecker. Then after the road trip or race or showdown, I find a new one without them in it.

As others have said, in showdowns use a fast lower class car. I typically do showdown races in my B Class Subaru 22b and in most cases I win or come in a very close second. I spend most of the race away from others.

In online gameplay, if I start near the top four of the pack I try to take off and have a perfect first corner to stay ahead of the pack and wreck. If I start near the rear I may hang back, watch the first corner wreck and make my way through/around and race on. Typically the ones who wreck you on purpose aren’t that good at racing so they fall to the back - you must watch out for them on lap races where they will wait and then wreck you as you come around. Again, report, block, and once things are done leave and find somewhere else to play.

If you want a “big truck” that protects you from people bumping you around and does well enough to win, I’d like to point you towards my S1 Class Ford Transit SSV. It’s quick, it wins lobbies more frequently than you’d expect, and if people keep bumping into you just steer into and bump them back hard and they’re no longer a problem.

Try holding back (but not too far) at the start, and let the wreckers kill each other in the first turn. If you kept close enough behind them, you can cut inside and scoot past all the spinning, upside-down “drivers” who rammed themselves wide or were taken out.

Then employ SatNiteEduardo’s first piece of advice (post #2 of this thread).

I don’t consider myself an exceptional driver by any means but my win rate is over 50% and climbing, not in spite of but BECAUSE OF these people. They basically can’t drive at all. They try to wreck you at the first corner and if they fail and get behind you, or overshoot the turn while you’ve taken the corner slowly, they will drop out. I was going to make my own post about this: in a third of my races, I’m racing all by myself by the 4% mark. Awful sportsmanship, plain and simple.

My advice is to hang in there, even if you get pushed wide of a checkpoint, because if you have just a little tiny bit of skill like me (i.e. if you brake on corners, as opposed to the wreckers, who don’t seem to), you can come back and win races.

That’s if you can find people who will actually run races with you. I rarely do. When I’m on, all people are ever doing is drag racing. It’s my suspicion this is because turning requires too much skill.

Long live singleplayer!

^this, folks^

I do quit sometimes, but on the other hand I’ve come back to win races after getting SUV-suckerpunched into last place.

For showdowns? That’s easy. Choose a C class car that you are really comfortable driving. Those truckers inevitably max out their behemoths into S1 class. Drive carefully, and you’ll never see a single one of them.

Also +1 Aqkko. Toying with those jokers is the very reason I play online. Once you get a turn ahead of them, you never see them again.

The ‘‘Drive faster than the other guys’’ in theory seems to be sound advice, but the reality is that once the other guy gets behind you, youre a berm for them to slow down enough to make the turn. Youre in the weeds and theyre onto the next berm. In my world you HAVE to slow for the turn. Not so much for the triple turbo guys. They bounce off every thing in front of them and somehow manage to just keep going.
Mostly I just carry on then go find another race. Some times you win but more often than not you just get plowed. It’s not a real car and magically the damage seems to just repair itself. So it’s really not a problem for me…Charles

Knowing that they are going to do that is the first step. Handling it requires subtle skills, and is a little hard for me to describe.

You need to play with their perception of the corner. For example: if you show a noob a little daylight around your car, they will almost always go for it. You can use that to put them on the side of the corner that is best for you.

If they are right on your bumper and there’s nothing you can do about it, try slowing earlier than you would like, but very gently. Let them push you through the corner.

I’m trying not to be too wordy, but like say, these things are hard to describe. I’ve started to compile videos of how I handle these things. If there’s interest, maybe I’ll put some together.

I have actually come to love this part of the game. A little practice and these situations will go your way a lot more often than they go against you.

This is good advice, I also use similar tactics to avoid getting wrecked online. Half the battle is learning to predict what lesser skilled drivers are going to do and after you play online long enough you’ll notice many of those drivers make the same mistakes time and time again. Generally these lesser skilled drivers don’t have the ability to drive with finesse so when you’re setting up to take the apex I like to leave a little daylight too because they usually go for it like you said and often over shoot the turn by braking too late and I can then cut inside and stay ahead the rest of the race.

I also agree that braking early when they’re riding your bumper is a good tactic because you then have more time to maintain control of your car when you inevitably get bumped hard from behind, this way you can still make the turn rather than being rammed into a wall or trees.

I get the issue in FM as people like to keep a clean line etc plus it’s more “simmy”, but really? Block and report people in FH2? lol…

It’s an arcade racer, the AI beats the heck out of you, team games are built around the strongest survive, simple way to deal with people who ram you…man up, ram them back and deal with it.

I race as cleanly as possible on FM games, but in FH you can let your hair down and go all out chaos mode, god help you if you meet me in an online race, I’ll be spinning you out for days, just for complaining about it
