How are you liking the Drift challenges on bucket list?

First full disclosure: I like to watch drift and gymkana, BUT, never overall had an enjoyable experience with drift in games, with VERY few exceptions.

That out of the way, I’m horrified on how unpleasant the drift challenges in FH3 are.

It is one thing to do not like a type of activity in a game, but seeing it as bearable for the sake of the completionism.

Then there are drifting missions in FH3: a truly game breaker.

To add insult to injury, I’m playing with a wheel (G920), making drifting close to impossible as the work of Playground with the wheel interface is beyond incomplete and careless (missing buttons, labeling WRONG in the controller settings, forgetting to include game essential commands in ALL wheel settings, etc), borderline disrespectful to consumers.

So, how much are you liking the bucket lists and drift zones in FH3?

I hate drifting but have found them ok.

I am using a controller and in most cases just all assists off and a few attempts and all is ok.

I even already have a 75k+ ready to roll out for Forzathon challenges.

I don’t know what to say - in the NSX drift challenge I had a few goes, just try to enter with as much speed as possible and keep the drift going.

it’s strange for me…
certain drift zones have hardly any traffic but a few have cars all the time. Considering the road this is horrible. I get crashed more often than not doing them or have to adjust completely and fail. They are fun, i just don’t understand the sudden influx of cars that come when it begins…

sooooo love-hate as of now

I’m drifting on a G920 on both PC and XB1 - loving it.

I’m no tandem drifter either, FH3 is the first game that I am really gelling with my wheel and just making it happen.

I use the full 900 degrees, normal steering, FFB to 70-80%, vibration 25% and hood view.

Some cars have been rough to drive with wheel: 05 NSX, Vantage S, FD RX7.

Some have been amazing: 037, Stratos, Delta S4, Vantage V600, HSVs, C63 S, 575 Maranello and more.

Might help to achieve the challenges if you unlock some of the perks first too.

Agree on the confusion with the button mapping - and the worst is that Button 1 changes from X to A depending on the context!

Based on most responses, all I need is to get better. lol!

How do you do it??? 8|

Drifting is awesome.
But Christ… the Drift Zones, they need to clear the damn AI out of them. As soon as you start one, drivatars appear from nowhere and ruin your run. Just damn annoying.

They are pretty bad. Thankfully you can rewind through them which makes beating them so much easier.

+1 to this. I guess it adds to the challenge of getting a high score but man is it frustrating lol

I was playing all weekend in co-op campaign…no rewind. It was driving me insane. Had to go back to single player so I could rewind them lol

the only experience I have with drifting missions so far is the bucket list challenge with the nsx. I got 40k on my first attempt and thought it was nice.

maybe I just got lucky though

The bucket list ones are nice, I didn’t mind those because no traffic. The drift zones with traffic are the annoying part.

That said I still got 3 stars in all the drift zones so it wasn’t that bad. Just have to try them a couple times til you get lucky with the traffic spawns. I guess that is what frustrates people. Getting 3 stars is not about how good you can drift, it is now a game of chance. Can you make it through the zone without a drivatar barreling into you? haha

I have a couple list challenges up, 66% drifting. If you want to check me out. Or if you can find me. Lol.

I haven’t tried this yet but is AI traffic at night not lower than during daytime? I got that feeling on the highway so it might be the same for the drift areas as well.

The thing I found most frustrating with the drift events (or any event really) was the AI cars. Most often, the hardest thing is avoiding them.

With 15-25fps and the wheel missing FFB - frustrating and next to impossible to accomplish any to those.

I cant get more than 6000 points on the Bucket List #14 “Experience Australian Madness In The HSV Maloo” its a F&*$UN$MG nightmare, its ruined the game for me.

OK, ive just seen the Crown vic police car DLC trailer, Im back in!!!

Watch some youtube video of it and remember the trajectory, then go and try to follow the similar path and you probably will pass it. This is what I did (this challenge was also driving me nuts).

Nonsense, its impossible and it makes no sense at all. The car either makes a big drift ensuring you go off the track against a tree, or you make a small drift and earn to little points. There is no middle way.
I just ragequitted the game because of it. Best i can get is about 13-14000 points and i do not believe anyone who says more is possible.

That one can be quite challenging. My note for success on that one is to ensure that you approach the drift zone with enough forward momentum to enable you to bring the tail-end out and keep the drift through the looong right-hander. Even though the tarmac is still wet you can carry quite a lot of speed into the turn, I approached it at around 100mph (here’s a video of one of my successful runs, but note that my attempt at a drift in the opposite direction coming into the zone is ill-timed and makes me run wide (but not too wide, luckily enough)).
