I absolutely 'loathe' drifting!

I must have spent the last hour going up and down this damn road… “failed”, low score, “Failed”, Spinny round like a record baby, right round, round round…

I feel like Yoda is going to pop his head out any minute and say “Do, or do not. There is no try!”

I totally -am not good at it- hate drifting too.
Wish someone could teach me.

Check out hokikoshi on YT he will show you how to use the force!!

Go to the airfield or festival drag strip and practice so you don’t have to worry about points or flying off the road.

Grab a formula drift car and start doing donuts then ease out of it while keeping the tires spinning. Get used to how much throttle it takes and how to regain control.

I also had problems with it when I was starting FH4, then found a tune that worked for me and now actually made few for myself.
I 3 star everything on first try with Formula Drift Corvette, also tuned the reward Formula Drift Dodge Viper. Maybe try those tunes, search them by my gamer tag.
Both are AWD, as I’m keyboard driver and don’t really do well at driving RWD cars.

PS
Turn TCS and stability off, also switch to manual transmission, as both tunes work best if you just put it in 2nd gear and go wild.

I would just add, 3rd or 3th may be better most of the time, as more speed = more points. At least, the tune I used (on the Nissan formula drift car) I used 3rd or 4th only.

Formula drift cars are the best to learn with. They are super forgiving.

I find it easier to drift in a awd car, and tend to use the e brake to get into corners to drift round. No doubt it’s not efficient but it works for me. Going to fast tends to make it harder, for me anyhow, and some cars feel way worse than others for drifting. It just takes practice and I’m no near amazing at it, but I have managed to three star all the drift zones. Also turning off traction control helps a bunch, and once you get the feel for the vehicle it’ll get easier.

I get my son to do it for me…even if i could drift i’d get him to do it as i find it totally boring.

  • Get any of Formula Drift cars (I used #34 Supra MkIV)
  • Find and download KenBlocksSohn’s Godlike Drifting tune
  • turn off traction control and stability management, switch to manual
  • get used to car with tune preferably somewhere where you have a lot of space like one of the runways and when you think you’re ready do it on regular roads
  • go back and smash seasonal “target”

Oh, I got the seasonal ok. it’s the one a little bit up the road by the dunes that has been doing my head in all day.

I gave up. Will try again another day when that last 9k points to 150k isn’t annoying the hell out of me

I had noticed that this one seems a bit more forgiving. You have slightly more time, the active width seems a little wider and getting your butt back round after going all spin dizzy and facing the wrong way, is not an instant fail like it was in 4.

AWD learning is useless. Try stock FD cars and learn. Don’t use any useless tunes. Drifting is similar to H4 but easier.

Stock FD cars are either too twitchy or require use of handbrake.

Yeah, could be. Viper is not good start but in H4 some BMW was awesome for start. Own build would be probably best start. Just RWD and drift suspension, nothing else, it’s enough.

Yep, don’t care for drifting at all… Even less so when it is part of the seasonal playlist…

I hated drifting too, but then I got determined to three star all the drift zones in FH4. It was hard! Then I tried Manual gears, and it was easier. Then I three starred them all, but also got a top 1% drift. Then I liked it.

its fine in mario kart, outrun or ridge racer, but for sims/simcades i just cant deal with it.

i avoid it.

No one knows what it means but it’s provocative and gets the people going.

Drifting is about the balance of grip and power. Power builds will be harder to control leading to looping the car or not going where you want. Grip builds will transition from one direction to the other really quickly. Tbh makes me motion sick pretty easily. They also can be twitchy. Kinda sounds like your using higher power cars, maybe?

If you are interested in rwd I have two Lexus SC rwd drift tunes shared. If either are remotely working for you (or even not) I can help you rebuild them and give some direction on how to tune them to a balance that fits you. I have some Silvias tuned too but not shared yet if you want something else.

I would advise AWD, it’s much more forgiving than RWD. The OP only wants to get the job done as simply as possible, not get into drifting in a deep and elite way.

I’m really bad at drifting yet I have 3 stars in all drift zones in FH4 UK map and I’ve already did same in this game. I used RTR Mustang and GMC one I forgot name… in FH4 and I did them all in Mustang S5 in this game.
