Now before anyone tells me to “search” I already have. I’ve followed the instructions that I’ve found here and elsewhere and am having no success at all in getting my headphones to work while using my wheel. BTW, this is not a Microsoft chat headset - it’s just a pair of headphones that I connect to the controller 3.5mm jack. Here’s what I do (as per the instructions I’ve found):
- connect the headphones to the controller
- power on with the controller
- login to my profile with the controller
- start the game with the controller
- press A on my wheel at the opening screen
- login to my profile with the wheel
- proceed to play with the wheel and listen through the controller - NOPE!
Now, apparently I should be able to use the wheel to race and the controller to listed through the headphones. But it doesn’t work. I sometimes get the “no controller is connected for this profile… blah blah blah” message that will not go away until I hit a button on the controller. Long story short - I cannot find a way to make this happen. I’ve read that I should be able to assign the wheel to my profile as well, but when I navigate to settings on the XBox I get the “no controller connected” message.
The wheel works perfectly so there isn’t an issue there. Am I doing something wrong or is this just not possible? I apologize if I’ve overlooked something simple, and I did search both here and Google before posting this. Any help is appreciated.
Cheers!

They use a different order and start the game with the wheel.
Otherwise just contact Bernes or Skreamies via PM or XBox live.
Good luck !
I gave up with using a mic via a 2nd controller, didn’t always work plus the controller would always turn off after 15 minutes. Yes, I know I could plug it in via a USB cable but I got tired of that as well.
I got one of the wireless Turtle Beach headsets in the end (they come with a USB dongle which plugs into the console, so negates the need for a controller).
I had no luck at all with using the headphones via the controller, so I gave up. I bought a DAC (digital to analogue) converter to connect to the TOSLINK jack on the Xbox. I’ll plug my headphones into that. They have a 10’ cord so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Cheers!

Movado, plug the usb cable into the controller and the controller no longer turns off
sinnman, it honestly isnt that hard, unless the headphones you are using arent capable. If you do not leave your wheel plugged in. Plug in the wheel, this should turn the xbox on (depends on your settings). Once the xbox is fired up and the wheel is calibrated, use the dpad on your wheel to fire the game of choice up, once the game is fired up and after you get through the initial start screen then plug your controller into another available usb plug using a micro usb to usb cord. This should turn the controller on. This will keep the controller on the whole time you are playing. After the controller turn on then plug the headphones in. You should be able to navigate the menus with the controller and get sound/chat in the headset from the controller all the while driving around track with the wheel.
