For older race cars and cars pre-DRL sure, but just about all new cars come with DRL now so I say leave them on those cars. I don’t really see how this is a problem tbh. Weird request.
So this is the one thing they choose to simulate? The FIM, IMSA and other championships running multiple classes at the same time (particularly endurance classes) use DRL’s as a way of distinguishing who’s behind you- different colors for different classes. Nothing whatsoever to do with safety. I know of no amateur or vintage racing organization (where you might actually see an Opel GT or Ponitac Firebird) that require headlamps, except for night races of course. In fact, most of these require glass lights to be removed or taped.
Let the Forza 7 solve. If the day goes dark or when passing in a tunnel, do not worry, the FM7 turns on the headlight for you. We just can not guarantee that at night all the cars are with the headlight on, it’s part of the surprise item provided by the T10. Bug that nothing. This discussion is being a joke.
I don’t mind the headlights being on or off during daytime races but why is it that in full grid graces some of the cars have their headlights on and others have them all? In rain races specifically, I would see the cars having their rear lights on, interior lights on, but nothing on the front! What happens to the front parking lights and headlights, if everything else is on?
An annoying bug that should have been resolved by now.
Yes to FOV & Seat position. AI are just terrible in general tbh. And the December update is probably still my favourite honestly. The FFB was horrible before then.
Wow - the utter lack of courtesy I sometimes see on this forum!
Take it easy bud, everyone’s got an opinion. Would you speak the same way to anyone of the forum visitors if you were standing toe to toe with them? I think not.
Yeah, rain driving deserves the headlights on all the time - what’s even more dumb is that the headlights automatically go off once the rain eases up, but the brake lights and interior lights remain lit!
Alright, so new headlight bug discovered which I’ve neve noticed before: watched a replay at Bathurst, full-grid AI race in free play, and the headlights on my car would go off as it got closer to the camera - then in the next camera angle/shot, they would reappear and then again disappear as the car got closer to the camera. It’s weird to explain, just try it out for yourself (replay only). Additionally, some cars have their headlights on, some have theirs off during full grid races - what’s the logic behind that? Sorry for so many complaints but these are getting annoying. I also don’t like the bright orange and washed out brake lights in low contrast conditions. PLEASE calibrate this game properly T10 - for both HDR and SDR.
Also, some of the LOD issues are still present in the game? I see ‘pieces’ of texture popping in right in front of me around the horizon and even around the left/right - on buildings and barriers, etc. And why is there an invisible sunroof on every car in replays? The driver’s helmet literally lights up during daytime races in replays - as if he popped open the sun/moon roof to let the rays in and then his helmet goes dark again.
I can’t seem to stop thinking how bizarre these bugs are… where is the quality testing team???
Alright Evan, but don’t you understand that what you’ve used to slander this features necessity mostly, if not all, have quick workarounds? You can’t seriously think that the problem of driving through a tunnel is reason enough, all you gotta do is put lights in the tunnel… easy.
"Waste of coding imo considering that, once again, most sanctioned racing organisation run lights on. Not only that but it’s a rammers paradise if someone decides to drive at night with no headlights or brake lights.
Then you’ve got the issue of whether you turn lights on automatically when it starts to rain, get dark, or go through a tunnel? Or do toy leave that to the player? "
all have easy fixes, don’t you see my frustration that you’re insistent on using these reasons to not have this feature implemented?
I don’t know what you’re getting at buddy, but headlights do not work in this game as they are supposed to. The least developers can do is give us a toggle switch to turn them on/off as we like, or just keep them ON for all rain, night and races in low contrast conditions. Not too much to ask. In FH4, headlights turn on automatically when you enter tunnels. Is it impossible to do that in Fm7?
My exact thoughts. This is an easy feature to put into the game and I don’t see a serious reason why it shouldn’t. IDK if maybe you didn’t see that there is a quote in there or what but I never said there that they work.
Never once did I say these are hard fixes on paper. You’re correct, they’re not but they do require thought and a lot of coding for, as I’ll state again, a feature that doesn’t add anything to the core game. It’s just a novelty. I don’t see the problem with the lights being always on. It’s not like it’s causing any issue what so ever, hence my “waste of coding” comment.
You’re going to have to possibly code all of this:
A toggle system for the headlights including mapping it to the controller.
Model and code DRL’s, standard lights and high beams.
Code where lights are automatically on for night races.
Code for when lights are automatically on for rain races.
Code to prevent players turning lights of in the rain or at night.
Code for headlights to automatically turn on when entering a tunnel and turn off when exiting a tunnel.
Code for headlights to be on in dawn and sunset conditions (even though they’re technically in the ‘Day’ weather setting).
There’s probably a lot that I’m missing here too, I’m a graphic designer, not a game developer so I don’t know but with the very little code I have dabbled in (Angel Script) it sounds about right to me.
Now these are very easy things on paper to implement, you’re dead right but it’s going to take a fair bit of coding for a feature 99% of people probably won’t use and for something that is a novelty, gimmicky, quality of life feature rather than a core development to the game. I’d like the feature to come in some day but I’d rather the developers focus on more important things like the state of the game, bug fixes, new core features, new content, FRR, etc.
One major headlight bug in the game that’s been, really really bothering me is that in some rain races, all the cars will start off with only their tail lights and dash lights on - but no DRLs or headlights. What’s that?!
Also, in certain rain conditions, the headlights go off after the rain eases up a bit, which I think is a nice touch - but again, the tail lights and dash lights remain lit with no front parking lights, DRLs or headlights on. What is all this?
Lastly, some cars have their headlights on, some have theirs off - I’m talking about non-night tracks. Turn 10, you really need to put a small team on this headlight issue, observe all the annoying bugs for a few days and roll out a fix! It’s really affecting gameplay and deserves attention.
Since I’m here, why do all the cars have bright white exhaust flames and brake lights in overcast track conditions? Mugello, for instance, it’s totally overcast - and the cars’ brake lights look really bright and almost white, with the exhaust flames looking more like a muzzle flash from a gun than backfire flames. What’s going on? Same thing happens on Maple overcast conditions and Sonoma overcast.
My guess would be that the increase in humidity causes the flame to not be as big. That would make it appear as a muzzle flash and less like a flame. I have no idea why the brake lights appear white at these places, that doesn’t make any sense to me.
You get the white glowy brake lights too in overcast and late afternoon/early evening conditions? Is your display HDR?
I can’t believe why they have still not addressed this. Calibration was fine in FM6 and 5, I liked it. Brake lights looked perfect under all lighting conditions. Also, I wish they had blended the exhaust flame effect of FM5 and 6 - it just doesn’t look convincing in 7.
