For some reason ive been stuck at 75fps with v-sync off and variable frame rate. I used to get 96fps average in the benchmark. In the latest benchmark run my frame rate varied from 69-75 typically staying at 73-74 fps. It feels like another program may be implementing FPS limiter (poor implementation as it hardly hits 75fps, always 73-74fps except at night). Im quite confused, will check any fps limiting programs, but has anyone got an idea why this is happening on my 1070?
Maybe you could check the Nvidia control panel to see if V-Sync isn’t enabled through there, maybe it has been set to be enabled but only in Forza Horizon 4?
Or have the settings of the game reset somehow, or check Nvidia GeForce Experience and see if it hasn’t auto-optimized your games and set v-sync on?
If this happens again the future, make sure your windows monitor settings is set to 144hz and disable vsync in default nvidia settings (if you want vsync, just enable it per game). It might have taken half vsync settings, hence why you got a 72-73fps output. Sometimes video settings get screwed up in Forza when there is a new update.
My monitor is 75Hz, I only noticed that it was a few frames shy as it dropped to mid 60s in heavy races and turned on show FPS. I will never know how it happened but it wasn’t related to half vsync, which is 37fps for my monitor.
Also happens when there are new drivers as it re-detects your video card. So if that happens at the same time as a Forza update it can cause all sorts of problems.
