So, I’m trying to at least finish Top 1000 in B-Class Rivals (as a newbie to Forza, I’ve set the Top 1000 as an ambitious goal for myself, as Top 100 etc is going to be all but impossible at this stage I think). I’ve looked at the leaderboards, and currently see cars like the Buick Regal (which surprised me) as the top leaderboard cars.
I currently have the Audi TT RS Coupe Day One Edition (i.e. B600) as my car of choice however, but I’ve seem to hit a wall; it handles great, but has very slow speed, so despite doing ‘perfect’ laps, I can’t seem to get my time down. So as a result, I’m just looking for some suggestions as to what are (competitive) B Class cars that handle well, but have great speed too? Moreover, anyone got any great B Class tunes (currently I use whatever tune Worm has uploaded). I have the Day One, VIP, Limited Edition and Car Pass car packs, so feel free to suggest any car from the game.
First off you can do top 100s. I can do top 100s so I’m pretty sure anyone can with some effort. It’s not easy and clawing for tenths and sometimes hundredths gets frustrating but it’s so rewarding when you do it.
I’ve been running B class the last two nights and I’ve been able to do top 500 times in my 99 Viper. Put on aero, bump up the front tire size, leave the rear tires alone, fill out your PI, then tune for balance. The car really settles down and becomes fun to drive. It’s still a Viper so it will bite you if you push it too hard but I was really impressed how it came into it’s own.
look at the leader boards and see what they are driving. when you go to download a tune use the search function to get a tune for that class and track. there is a tune that made that buick handle just like my 65 mini which was awesome for silverstone. no one tune is best for everytrack, you are going to need track specific tunes to climb the leaderboards on every track. i give each tune about 30 -50 laps before i give up on it and switch to a different tune. worms tune is an over all tune to set good average times across all tracks. basically for multiplayer when you dont want to be changeing cars and tunes between every race. you’ll be competetive and win a few. rivals is about trying to win them all you need the combo of right car, right tune, and right line, and the recommended line is not always the fastest line for every car/tune.
ohh and turn off as many assists as you can and still run half your laps clean. eventually you’ll get better and be running every lap clean. when that happens see if there is another assist you can turn off. assists are to help people learn, to help them be average. average goes both ways. as a beginner they make you faster, as you become more skilled they are still making you average which is now slower. if you look at the top times there are very few if any assists used. eventually you start driving with your subconscious just like you do in real life and driving without the assists becomes as easy as driving with them. and practice practice practice. are you going to become the next pario andretti? probably not. are you going to become good enough to beat times than right now you are wondering how in the heck they ever went that fast because it seems impossible to you now? probably, and it’ll probably seem easier to get around the track even at the faster time than it seems now. you wont feel like you are pressing, you’ll feel relaxed. you’ll be more confident. without even realizing it you wont just be driving to get thru this corner the fastest…you’ll be comming out of the corner on a line that is going to get you thru the next corner the fastest as well. you’ll start driving corners ahead without even realizing it and there will be no panic because you are properly prepared for what you absolutly know for sure is comming up, there wont be any suprises or oopses.
Do you have the name of the tune by any chance mate? This is basically what prompted me to make this thread; I saw the Buick at the top of the leaderboards on Silverstone, so I purchased it and applied the first B600 tune I could find, but unsurprisingly, I wasn’t getting anywhere near the times of the Top 1000. I’ve narrowed down the tune search to B Class and Silverstone, but there seem to be about 5-6 different tunes; if you have the name of it thus, that would be absolutely great mate!
sorry exor, you were the bottom post when i started posting and the quick reply didn’t seem to want to work at the time on my pc. you were just victim of being the last in line. and i cant type. worms tunes are ok but they are over all tunes, they are not track specific tunes which i seem to need to climb in the leaderboards. worms tunes will probably beat the track specific tunes on every other track thats why i recomend changing tunes for every enviroment. in some enviroments even changing from track to track, if it has some ribbons with long straights and some ribbons without. the optimal aero and gearing will change because you wont have the straights to make up the time you lost in the corner on the short ones or you wont have the speed in corners to make up what you lost on the straight.
again sorry. i wasn’t trying to correct you or even imply you were wrong. the quote just worked faster at the time. i have rebooted since then but i have a memory leak or something.
It’s all good. I just wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be picking up something in your post that I wasn’t. I thought your post was good though. I just wasn’t sure what it had to do with me. haha
If I get into the top 1% in Rivals I’m happy. That’s a pretty good margin. It’s even more satisfying if you can get up there with an unusual car; and it’s far less satisfying if you use the same car that has all the top times. My favourite B class car is currently an AM DBS tuned and painted by me. I spent a fair bit of time tuning it and it’s no good for short twisty tracks but when I can use it I love it! It’s sublime, like the real thing!
I haven’t got very far in B class yet, only up to Catalunya but one car that has been very good so far is the Merc 190E. I would recommend that as a good all round choice. It’s also top of the leaderboard on some early tracks like Bernese Alps Stadplatz. I can only get into the top 3% on this track (but then there are far fewer players) I think my position is around 1,400 in the Merc. Time to try an old Evo or Skyline and see if I can crack the top 1,000!
P.S. Tune it yourself and paint it yourself! It’s far more satisfying.
Don’t use the day one edition cars unless you bump them up to a higher class. They simply have random upgrades and are not tuned.
If you like that car, use the standard version. I used the standard version a bunch and it was pretty quick at the time (not sure now though). I don’t have my xbox one at them moment due to repairs, but if you’re interested I can hook you up with whatever I have. I can tell you the tune setup as well. None of the versions were perfect, but its a start.
The Buick is one of the fastest cars in the game in B and C class and has been since launch but most people cannot drive it quickly since it loves to drift. Its a little easier with TCS on though. Its so good because the transmission is a beast and the car accelerates like crazy. To build a fast buick, start with the V8 engine swap and centrifugal supercharger. Avoid race tires and just use the widest rear tire width. Upgrade the supercharger if you need more acceleration.
I started B class with a 350z and one of the M5’s (E39 i think). Both cars are fast (350z i think is still top 200 on indy gp and beemer top 300-400 at some pragues) and can be used with or without TCS and neither have funky engine swaps. I’m pretty sure I have the beemer posted but not sure about the 350z. Overall though I would highly suggest you get a 350z since it is a well balanced and fun to drive car.
swerv that buick with the right tune is one of my favs, it hendles just like the mini but is faster.
look at the leader boards per track, get the best car for that track and start trying tunes (search by car can class and track) you’ll usually find a tune that fits your driving style in 5-10 tries. do 3-5 laps in each tune. one you would think was a fast mini if you were in one of the cams where the car is invisible. it owns silverstone in b class. but you need a car and tune per track, no car or tune is gonna be top 100 on every track for the class until you hit p or x class. even then you still need different tunes on the same car.
oh i know how it handles. Its really fun and very responsive when you keep it planted. If it handles like a mini then you might have too many tire upgrades on it.
