Graphics: Shadow Artifacting On Multiple Tracks And Weather Conditions (1589717)

This is an issue across all cars: a few metres in front of the car it looks as if the headlight beams are broken and flickering.

Looks like some kind of headlight beam lighting issue. It doesn’t reflect off the track naturally. Please investigate! Thank you.

Xbox Series X
Performance RT

On the PC during night races from the hood lights flicker non-stop without stopping. It’s like that on all cars

This now happens every time after one race is completed (Xbox series X) in carrer mode after the 2.0 update. The game has to be closed and restarted every 2 races to “fix” this.

Same for me on Series X after Update 2.0.

Same here! Xbox series x after update 2.0

even after the patch the black colored cars with the manufacturer liveries appear as before, grey. the only way to get them black is to color them with generic colors so the patch is still wrong same thing for the wheels in the m4 the aluminum color appears white exactly as before furthermore, by making the windows black, the front and back ones are not coloured there is always the bug of trees in SD 2d in lime rock replays t10 are you listening to us or are you just making fun of us?

This is the problem I have with Forza, it’s the inconsistencies and car models that I take issue with. At times FM looks jaw droppingly beautiful and realistic. Other times the quality of the visuals drop significantly.

Personaly, I have experienced shadow artifacting myself and had it so severe one time that the flickering of the shadow would’ve triggered a seizure in someone with epilepsy, that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen.

In addition, sometimes I’ll experience blurry textures, pop in, screen tearing on the tracks and other visual bugs. Furthermore, some car models aren’t even finished which is why you can’t check the engine bay on some cars and some cars have poor texturing. There are many GT7 vs FM comparisons where GT7 admittedly wins. If the developers would deliver a consistent quality experience and update or finish the car models that aren’t, Forza would be miles ahead of GT7, but unfortunately this isn’t the case, at least not in the current state that the game is in.

Today a new problem on replay

T10 are you listening us???

I had flickering shadow/race track underneath my car few times (Xbox X).

Every now and then, the reflections on the car glitch out for several minutes and I get blinking black spots all over the track.

You can see the glitch in action in these captures:

This particular bug is not related. This has always happen in replay with Oak Ridge reverse track.

Yep, flickering around the car and track still there post update I can confirm.

I can see this problem early in the campaign but It’s happening a lot in Lime Rock VIP event.

Xbox series X

Suddenly this issue happened here (XSX) as well, but only on the roof of my car (92 NSX-R). Funny thing is, the flickering would react to me steering left/right at the grid as the countdown happens. So it’s clearly reacting to the steering input even though the car isn’t moving.

Still happening and seemingly happening more frequently after update 2.0

Yeah it’s worst with the MX-5 Miata here too. Full-screen flickering shadows that make me feel ill (Video available). Every track on the MX-5 tour.

I’m on a Series X with graphics set to Visuals. Also happens on every other car but it’s usually small effects closer to the vehicle. With the MX5 tour it’s completely intolerable.

When I set it to Performance RT it’s only as bad as every other car, and on Performance it’s fine except for the limited fps. Would be nice to get a more comprehensive graphics options menu that let me choose 60fps in a stable rendering mode.

This right here is my major gripe with the game. Oh I wish this would be the focus for fixes going forward and I pray to the gaming gods that the incessant whining about Car XP is ignored.

What’s your problem with that? Even if they get rid of this pathetic mechanic you can still drive your stock cars

It takes focus away from actual problems with the game. I highly doubt most players have a problem with Car XP, I might be wrong but this forum is not representative. Regardless this graphical glitch is something that is actually broken in the game, Car XP is not broken.

I love when people say negative feedback of something is not representative because it’s on a discussion board whilst positive feedback on the same platform is valid.

This is what we call confirmation bias. This way of thinking allows you to excuse and ignore negative feedback about anything. Essentially no amount of backlash is representative because there’s some ambiguous monolith not joining the conversation who all love the feature.

I’m sure this will be a surprise to some but that same anonymous group not posting is just as likely to hate it. Not posting does not equal unbridled love, it’s passiveness.
