Graphics - Ray Tracing - Car self-reflection broken, reflecting interior only

When playing with the Hyundai Veloster N Forza Edition I noticed that it did not have self-reflections when in the “race world”, it only have them in the frontend garage or Forzavista, but not even in the race garage, ingame, replay, photo mode.
You can see the rear wing and the wiper are not reflected on the starting grid :

But the AI version of the car (without the detailed interior) has proper self-reflections, it can be seen during gameplay, replays and starting grid as shown here :

When in photo mode, if I look down the windshield of an AI car to see my car’s reflection on it, I only see some kind of interior reflections, meaning that in the RT world my car is not rendered properly, thus it can’t reflect its exterior parts :

I don’t know if it’s an issue with this car only or if something caused it, but I noticed it during a solo event, and it was still there after restarting the game.

Exact same issue, not car-related. I’m at the second set of events and my Supra also does not have RT reflections while all other cars do. RT reflection is not even activated in Photo Mode, defeating the entire purpose of it.

Pretty much it. If you swith to anything but OFF the game looks blurry and reflections in motion look like it’s 8 bit and I can count the block on the edge) When stopping the motion for example in forza vista - you can see like blurriness slowly eats that edges and they become smooth but blurry and low res. Can try yourself in Forza Vista with and car. As soon as you turn RT OFF completely the image is perfectly sharp and so are reflections.

This is a big problem that about half the cars in my garage have. I’ve noticed that some cars start working again with certain paints, so maybe its a toggle for each material or something, idk.

It’s not just as simple as RT being broken so it looks the same as forza has always looked though. When RT is set to on, RTAO completely replaces the baked in AO texture on the car, so if it doesn’t work it looks worse than if RT were just disabled.

Curiously, it’s only broken (for my P1 GTR at least) in the builders cup. I took it into freeplay to take example screenshots and it worked perfectly

RT enabled in builders cup (Broken)

RT Disabled in builders cup

RT Enabled in builders cup (broken)

RT Enabled in freeplay (working)

one final note, an option for RT reflections on rougher surfaces like the carbon fiber here would be great on PC (as well as native res RT), but that’s besides the point.

Confirming that the car self-reflection is totally busted, and that includes in cockpit view.

If we take a look at the view from the McLaren Senna’s cockpit, we can see on the centre bit of the wheel for example that the back of the track is what’s being reflected there, rather than the vehicle interior and driver. In addition, the carbon fibre panels to the side will reflect the road, which should not be visible unless the Senna has some sort of glass bottom that I didn’t know about :stuck_out_tongue:

Visible on PC (Steam) on an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT (Reference model).

Does this issue still persist after recent updates? Would it be possible to provide a video of this in action?

Kia ora! This appears to be fixed in the current update, for example driving the Senna on Maple Valley will no longer show the track below it in the reflection, and player models are also reflected appropriately.
