Graphics Improvement

Forza Motorsport (2023) overall needs a graphics update/improvement for Xbox Series Consoles, it seems like the game looks unfinished or milky/washed out or looks like a mobile game from what i’ve seen on social media comments.

Forza Motorsport (2023) needs to work/improve of the following:
Lighting
Reflections
Sharpness
Color
Textures

I looks fine. The ray tracing is the major problem. Considering this is turn 10’s first game with full ray tracing mode, it’s not that strange that it’s not working perfectly, it’s just sad that it’s working pretty bad.
If you’re playing in normal quality or performance mode, the game looks better, but it still has overall performance issues, like lagging/fps drops, shadows popping/disappearing and so on.
The main thing that people dislike about the the colors, is that it’s just different from other game. A lot of people say it’s desaturated, which is just the color correction in the game. If you compare that to other racing games FM is really the best at it, as a hobby photographer I can’t see why that’s an issue for people. GT7 compared look quite lively and fruity, the colors are really beautiful, but FM has this cinematic vibe imo.

if FM can improve the color, lighting, reflection, and sharpness it can possibly shutdown gt7, i just want this game to succeed thats all i’m lowkey tried of people downgrading FM and giving all the glory to GT7 and i’ll admit there are certain things GT7 does better and there are things FM does better but to see nothing but mean/downgrading comments is a little frustrating

I totally get that, the Forza Community is huge and there are a lot of people writing crap about this game, tbh just stop reading it, because it’s quite depressing reading all of those people’s opinions.
GT7 is definitely an amazing game, but considering that it’s last gen so the devs could easily create something really good looking with it because they just need to improve on what they did with the previous title. FM is a new engine so obviously the devs are going to have some struggles with. Comparing those two games is just unfair in my opinion, we should just wait until the next GT game with new engine comes out and then we’ll see.

What kind of TV do you have? I have none of these issues. You understand social media heavily compresses videos destroying the image quality and are not an indication how it really looks. It looks amazing on my OLED.

I’ve got XSX on Oled and no it doesn’t look that good, GT7 actually looks better in most parts and yes I’ve got both PS5 and XSX, FH5 destroys both in terms of sounds and graphics.

I know I set my TV as properly as I could. I used advice from professional calibrators for game as well as movie and standard viewing settings. It looks great. Reflections on the hood are amazing. HDR color looks nice. I’m not seeing poor graphics. I’m a stickler for image quality and want it to look as close to the creators intent as possible. You can’t really compare Horizon to a track racer. Of course Horizon is lush and colorful. It’s an open world. I think the quality of graphics is similar but there is just more of it in Horizon. Race tracks aren’t that kind of environment. I’ll give that the sky is better in Horizon.

Ah man, I’m jealous.

I have an LED Samsung and it’s pretty bad looking.
The rain effects just look like static on the windshield, very distracting. Hardly any textures anywhere and very washed out colours. A little disappointed tbh :frowning:

I think whats going on there is the dynamic quality adjustment.
That looks like sewer water, But its probably dynamically changing quality levels to meet stringent performance targets if I had to guess.

Unrelated. Heres some pictures from a game from 10 years ago

Not sure what game this is though. Again, completely unrelated and off topic.

Since I can’t find the thread I started,
Texture loading during replays is really bad. Look at them beautiful trees.
These pictures say it all

I think they just have too many things going on at once that just dont mix well. Its not even the ray tracing as that can be turned off, even the 30fps visuals mode looks pretty bla, a TRUE next gen title should look and run much better than this game currently does.

They need to figure it out because if this is the same engine that horizon 6 and fable are going to be running on theyre going to have A LOT more people disappointed in the graphics.

Agreed

That’s an AI car so it doesn’t surprises me, but if it was players car, then i would have been surprised.

I think this game is just really, REALLY buggy. I’m playing on an OLED and the game looked a mess toward launch. Also the sliders in display settings were broken and either did nothing or just made it worse. Updates and tweaking my TV settings on the Xbox input has it in a solid place now but I wonder if people with the most prominent complaints about visuals saw what I saw.

Devs got sucked into the Ray Tracing bandwagon and it came at the cost of an overall worse graphics presentation.

The hardware was not ready for ray tracing and all the hardware resources going to make a feature like that work takes away from better models and textures.

Sucks when you dont have enough common sense to realize that until after its too late.

And as a Software Engineer with 20 years experience I can say a pattern similar to this happens across all industries.
The people in charge force technical requirements with little to no understanding of the implications.

I greatly prefer Forza over GT, but I do think the cars in GT7 look better than they do in FM. To me cars in FM look like they’re in a video game with really good graphics whereas GT7’s cars look photorealistic. I’m not sure what it is about FM’s cars that make them seem (to me at least) not quite real, I’m not schooled in what does what in graphics when it comes to making things look more realistic (like if it’s a lighting thing, or resolution, or just the models themselves).
I’m not saying FM looks bad. I probably wouldn’t even think it could get much better, but once you play both it becomes clear that there’s definitely room for improvement.
Just my two cents.

Raytracing is fine on PC. And consoles just can’t handle any serious raytracing load, Turn 10 has nothing to do with it.

I have said this time and time again from launch.
The game looks like trash.
The washed out appearance is a film/cinema technique to hide glaring defects. If you blur out the fine details that are bad, well you can’t see them to complain about it. This really helps to hide all the crappy enviornments. Like how the release trailers showed long grass, then game launch we have short grass.
I am so glad that we have a lot of brave people who will point out the graphics of this game. Squeaky wheel gets the grease…but it sure does take a lot of time.

Yeah, there seems to be a distinct lack of grease at Turn 10. Probably too expensive due to tariffs…
