Any news about this i just cant stand TAA or DLSS or any AA only MSAA or off. I didnt buy this game as soon i saw that TAA is forced!?
With this method, you fix the blurry edges, but ghosting persists, right?
Yeah, there’s a little bit there, but way less than if you had DLSS or FSR on.
Hello,
We are looking for feedback on the expectation for what a “disable TAA” option would do. The ability to fully turn off anti-aliasing? Or the ability to turn on other anti-aliasing options when disabling TAA?
please vote to help us move forward with this issue, please also leave feedback regarding these issues
- Ability to fully disable TAA option
- Ability to use other Anti-aliasing options when disabling TAA
Thank you,
This issue isn’t PC exclusive. It is very blurry on Xbox Series X as well. I’ve been bothered by this ever since launch. The most evident examples of this are the wire mesh fences gradually disappearing at a very close distance, as the TAA bleeds the thin fence together with whatever is past it, and spotlight posts looking 8 bit pixelated at a distance, as I noticed while racing at Daytona at night, aside from looking like how I see the world without my glasses. Going from FM (2023) to FM7 or FH5, which used MSAA, is a day and night difference.
And the worst part of this is that it dumbs down texture detail. I didn’t notice the McLaren Sabre had carbon fiber parts until I looked at it in Forzavista.
Hello,
To be honnest I can sum up and clarify the community voice on that one. In simple words a lot of us cannot play at 4k, but only on 1080p. At these Full HD native resolutions, the graphics, edges when moving camera are becoming very blurry. This is causes by forced TAA implementation. To begin with, the fastest way to help would be totaly dissabling TAA. Most of us prefer overly sharp look compared overly smooth look (because 1080p). Other anti-aliasing options would bring a cherry on a pie as we could enjoy great graphics. FXAA on it’s own without TAA is very welcome at this point. That would be enough. If you can add MSAA as Horizon titles have, this would be perfect. Please let me know if you considering the removal of TAA as a lot of us cannot accept the game with 1080p. Thank you.
I think this is kind of hard to happen, but different anti-aliasing options should also come to Xbox.
I’ve seen some posts complaining about blurry TAA on PC, but not on Xbox Series X. In fact, one of them is a known issue, and I commented in it pointing out this issue is on Xbox too, but I’m not sure they’re going to account for it, so I’m making a whole new post.
Below, I will present many examples compared to FM7 (which uses MSAA), all in 4k, which will evidence blurry and pixelated edges, and as a result, flat textures (like carbon fiber turning into flat dark gray paint) and fine objects, such as wire mesh fences, gradually disappering as the TAA mashes the colors together, or just ignores those fine textures. For a better look, open full images.
An comparison of fences vanishing:
An example of edges being way more pixelated and blurry in Motorsport (2023), while FM7 is sharper:
Spotlight posts way more visible and less pixelated in FM7:
More examples of blurriness (most noticeable on car):
FH5 is even better looking and would be the perfect game to compare to, was it a track based game. In replacement for TAA, even though it is alledgedly difficult, it would be nice to be able to choose which Anti-Aliasing method we want, but fixed MSAA would be much better as well.
Yeah this isn’t’ going to happen. Only thing they can do is higher the base resolution /improve the TAA solution (which seems to be FSR2 on Xbox).
The bigger issues are the low anisotropic filtering and noise generate by the low sample RTAO that their temporal denoiser simply can’t handle.
Game is blurry also on PC. on normal 1080p it’s unplayable. not everybody has a nasa pc that can run 2k or 4k resolutions.
On a side note the track detail looks better on FM. I’ve never compared it with FM7. Bridge in your pics at Laguna Seca looks more detail and real than in FM7.
I’m going to install 7 again and have a good look at things.
I think this is just bizarre. It seems like most games have been like this. It always seems like they got super excited about details and new stuff, but once the deadline is close they realize they forgot to do the basic, so it ends up launching unfinished, in this bizarre state in which you ask yourself “why have they done this but not that other much more important thing?”
Letting us turn it off allows us to use SMAA or FXAA with reshade so they are the same thing really.
I want ZERO frame re-use related to AA.
Let me know when this is fixed and I’ll be re-purchasing the game.
The ability to turn off TAA, even if no other options are available, is a must.
Alternate options may require significant dev time, which makes it a bigger ask. If MSAA is still possible in the updated engine, I would hope it’s considered, but simply exposing a toggle to disable the effect entirely should be simple enough. Simple AA like FXAA and SMAA can always be used with tools like reshade if dev time can’t be spared for official support. Not to mention the resolution scaler the game already has is enough for very clean image quality without TAA if players have the hardware for it.
The way I see it, there’s no excuse to force it. I just recently found a way to disable TAA in Halo Infinite, another game that doesn’t let you disable it in game. It’s just a toggle in the game files the player isn’t supposed to find. It’s rarely the case where it’s much more complicated than that, I’m guessing devs assume there’s simply no demand for it.
Hello. Do you have any updates regarding TAA dissabling or replacing with FXAA settings? Just would like to know if this has some progress or we should ever expect this feature in the future.
Is there anyone aware of the TAA bluriness on this particular game, well TAA is not shiny per se, but some games can have sharp image and details, the little markings like car type and name on the back of old cars are unoticable, or gauges and details on the cockpit, dunno if this is due to lower resolution on models, but yet I ve to find a sharper looking car or interior view, enlight us on that point please.
This is a huge deal, When are we going to get this BASIC option? Ever?
BUMP
Nearly half a year later and still no update on this. The only thing that happens is that comments get removed lol.
