I bought the NAPA car DLC using my account because my son’s account doesn’t have a linked credit card.
However, when he plays the game, he cannot access the free cars. When you go the in-game marketplance, the game still shows a full CR cost for the car (eg 265,000 for the 2015 McClaren, which is what he wanted).
The DLC shows up as purchased, but the cars are not free.
I have not played the game using my account. However, I fear that the free cars are locked to my profile. Which is a bummer as I will never play Forza Horizon 2.
So, simple question: can my son access these DLC cars? If so, how?
If not, then why not? Isn’t DLC part of Gold family sharing? And how can I buy the pack for him - the game won’t let me re-purchase it as it is already flagged as having been purchased.
the free cars are only for the account that bought the DLC but anyone else’s account on the console will have access to the cars , just have to use ingame credits to buy them…so yes the free cars are locked to your profile, bit of a bummer
theres already many threads like this on the forum, there is also a workaround so you can repurchase the DLC for him, but that would be real money
in game credits are so easy to get , most players have so much credits they have nothing to spend it on
You make this sound like it’s some sort of horrible concept or idea. You have to spend in-game credits to buy non-DLC cars, but OH NO, the DLC cars aren’t free for everyone, only the people who bought them. It’s not the end of the world. If you enjoy playing the game as so many here claim to do, then it should easily be no problem to save up enough credits to buy the DLC cars.
I haven’t played as much this last month or so as I did before then, and I’m still sitting on well over 12 million credits with little to spend them on. Play the game, get money, buy the cars.
If you do one bounty challenge head-to-head race you will be done in less time that it took me to type this out and can easily walk away with 85,000 credits. More than enough to buy around half the cars in the game - well, one of them from the selection of course.
As for the OP - you share Gold and the features Gold gives you. This does not mean you receive in game bonuses that are tied to specific accounts. Everyone on your console has Xbox Live Gold, access to Multiplayer features, and basically has a Gold account of their own but only on your console. This also means that anyone on your console has access to any Digital and DLC content you have purchased. However, these extra bonuses, such as a one time free car, for the purchaser of the DLC are only for you because you are the one who purchased the DLC. If you really want both accounts to have the car for free one time, you can always buy the DLC on the second account as well. In the end, that is something you must weigh the costs and benefits of yourself.
On other consoles, other players can also access your digital and DLC content but only while you are logged in to that console.
