General Graphics Comparison: FM 6 Vs FM 2023

I’m looking at the track surface detail… The car reflections… The interior details and nuances… The reflections and textures on the tracks and cars in the rain…

EVERYTHING seems to look better in Forza Motorsport 6 except for the lack of 4k of course.

Do you think T10 will bring the visuals up to a level we can call “This is the new Forza game for the Series X” …?

No comparison pics?

I don’t know what you’ve been looking at but the graphics are night and day better in FM 2023. Especially compared to 6 (I assume you meant 7).

It’s just broken shaders and sky is too bright (already lowest setting here) and maybe they “overoptimized” some things.

First of all FM beats every other game atm. I’ve compared with ACC and so on the amount of detail around the track is top.

The detail is there you can’t see it in some cases thats all…

Good example is this image. It looks idk “flat” but it has little secret hidden

“Invisible grass”

You can tell something is “broken” on other details too.
Here is changed light and trackdetail becomes visible but look at the highlighted crack in front of car. In some conditions u need sunglasses passing this crack

Here is same crack looking correct but other stuff looks wrong

Too many visual inconsistencies. It just doesn’t look right most of the time.

It can look good sometimes (rain, dark)… But yeah they have to fix reflections and other stuff

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I dont agree with you at all.FM6-and 7 are blue drab looking games.I like both games but always hated that about them. With a powerful GPU(NV 3090 and better) you can use 4k without dlss and with dlaa @4k and maintain 60fps with a decent cpu of course. With high or ultra settings the game looks very good with all day/night/weather cycles looking impressive. The night races are now some of my favorites, the lighting is awesome, tracks lights, light bouncing through the interiors, reflections from light billboards, shadows cast from cars behind all look very realistic.RT is not a must have option either,it needs some improving in this title… but hey,to each their own.Go enjoy FM6 before it’s gone, lol

Agree, it looks very cartoony, main difference is the smooth 60fps. Very odd lighting engine, and just makes everything look fake. It’s not close to the best looking racing game. Does feel like it’s just really inconsistent, looks good in garage scenes, but on track it’s a different story.

No, they objectively are not

FM6 looks better than FM7. Can be hard to get people to understand that though, as normally a newer game will look better, but in Forza’s case it doesn’t. In some respects FM5 beats both of them, such as trackside detail, number of spectators and grass blades quality. FM 2023’s grass looks worse than all of them, more akin to a big patch of weeds which has been steamrollered.

Yes! There is no such a game, except AC with mods, where you can cruise like that.

I think you mean subjectively not… It’s ok, the two are misused all the time.

edit - labelled them to avoid possible confusion.

I don’t understand how you can have track rubber up to 100% but still no rubber visible on the track… unfortunately if you compare this to GT7 its a joke…

I can tell FM8 has a more advanced lighting model in the comparison shots. But idk if it looks better than FM6. Everything looks flat and washed out. FM6 had color and some contrast and looks like the graphic designers tried to make it look good.
Mid day, for whatever reason seems to be the worst for FM8.
Or rain races with cockpit view because the Screen space reflections are awful in this game and have to vanish in.

The biggest issue with FM8 is the graphical inconsistencies in general. Some shots look great and feel like a current gen title.
Other times you can turn a corner and have shadows drawing in 10ft from your vehicle, billboards not loading in and looking blurry, trees looking like mine craft, RT being so pixelated it’s distracting, reflections looking super pixelated to where cube maps would have been preferred, washed out color palletes (whole game is overexposed imo), Car interiors that glow, Ghosting reflections, 30fps (maybe) rolling starts.
This list goes on and on and it blows my mind how anyone with eyes thought it was okay to ship a game in this state.

With how fast turn 10 has been at fixing issues, they should have delayed the game another year. Maybe half the problems would be fixed by then.

The only thing I can definitely say I liked better in FM6 is the rain puddles.

This makes it clear as day that the graphics are night and day better in the new game. It’s not even a comparison.

I think it shows the new game is worse, unless you are mistaking which is the newer game there.

FM6 has much more detailed track textures and trackside detail + density of objects and spectators.

Oh snap. I thought it was FM6 before FM8. I genuinely got them mixed up.
To be fair to FM8, that was midday, and the lighting at that time looks extremely flat then.
Compared to what FM6 had at late day. Has more shadows to work with. But the track detail are just not even close.

The first one is FM6 is it not?
