The below issue was merged into an existing topic (AI - AI does not appear affected by rain or wet tracks (1750188) - #16 by Harawanagangsta) and then closed incorrectly. I am reposting this issue to provide a response to Forza’s Support response that stated that the behavior was intended. This issue is still present on Update 12. The original issue was reported after Update 9.
Forza Support Response:
A couple things regarding this response.
- The statement regarding the AI having slower lap times due to wet conditions is only true if that is what is actually occurring. However, if you read through the original issue I posted, that was NOT what was occurring. The AI was NOT losing time due to the rain (see attempt #2 description). That is one of the primary issues this post was identifying. They continued running the same lap times while the player’s time slowed as expected. They are not affected by the weather whatsoever until the downpour began at Lap 14.
- Forza Support’s response does not address the AI’s inconsistent behavior regarding putting on wet tires. Attempt #1 and #2 they did not pit at all until the downpour while not losing pace (tire wear cheating as well). Attempt #3 they all pitted by Lap 11.
I can attempt to record a video of the issue, however, keep in mind that it would be a different race event as the Endurance Tour is long since gone. The combination of tire wear cheating and lack of rain time loss means the AI had a huge time advantage because they required only one pit stop (player needs 2 due to wet tire wear) and did not lose pace from the damp track (Laps 6-14). The tire wear cheating is captured by a known issue (Gameplay - Drivatars not affected by tire wearing scale (1815345)) so will not go into detail on that here.
Original Issue:
Been trying to beat the Career Mode Brands Hatch Endurance race (with the Touring Cars), where it begins to rain on Lap 6. I have tried this race three times now, with varying settings, but generally on difficulty 6 with simulated fuel/tires. The pre-race menu never shows what tires AI are on. Below is what happened on the three attempts:
Attempt #1) Started 24th. Start on Hards. Rain starts Lap 6, track becomes wet, lose 2-3 seconds of pace. Stabilize around 7th, AI starts stretching lead and I pit end of lap 7 for Wets. Only one AI pits for Wets before Lap 14 (end of Lap 9). I quit out and restart because I have zero chance.
Attempt #2) Started 16th. Start on Hards. Same rain behavior/lap time loss. I don’t pit for Wets this time, but AI continues stretching lead, gaining 1-2s on me per lap on me once it starts raining and never pit for Wets either. Again, I quit out around Lap 13 because AI is ignoring the rain and gapping me.
Attempt #3) Started 24th. Turn off simulated tires/fuel. Choose Softs in tire choice. Get to 1st by lap 4. Rain starts lap 6, lose pace as per usual. 18 AI pits for Wets at end of lap 10, other 5 AI at end of lap 11. Race completely trivialized, I’m ahead by 30 some seconds.
What gives? Why is the AI all over the place? The AI never pits for Wets when I’m behind them, on simulated tires. But I turn off simulated tires, get in the lead, and then they all pit for Wets? And then there’s the fact their lap times aren’t affected at all by the wet track until it downpours (around Lap 14). Can we fix this if we’re going to support endurance races?
