Am I correct in assuming the AI doesnt actually suffer any traction loss for running slicks in the wet?
I’ve had multiple instances of running long races where the AI all running slicks wouldnt loose any significant lap time staying out for multiple laps after rain starts. Where the player car becomes nearly undrivable.
I’m either missing something. Or the AI just straight up ignore track wetness.
Does anyone else have any insight on this?
I think you’ve got the problem pegged.
It’s all just part of the great physics of the game people love so much.
I’m pretty sure this has been a problem with all Forza games since rain was introduced in Horizon 2.
?
They didnt have wet tires til this game.
Yes, but the AI in all Forza games have always never been affected by different surfaces regardless of tire compound. This is one of many reasons why Cross Country is a broken game mode in the Horizon games, and I’m not shocked that this hasn’t be rectified with wet surfaces in the Motorsport games in turn. I don’t know what you’re confused by.
This has never been my experience. In cross country they arent affected by deep water slowdown and much less affected by jump landings.
But I’ve never experienced cars in Motorsport 6 or 7 run away with pace in wet conditions. They always drop pace relatively. And on non slick tire races its a noticeable pace loss in accordance with the player car. Ive only noticed it explicitly when changing to wets when slicks are involved. As you can tell they lose much less time.
When it started raining in the Brands Hatch endurance race, around lap 15, the traction of my car seriously degraded, so I had to pit for wet tires (after having had new mediums just 5 laps before).
The drivatars did not make a pit stop. As a result I was able to overtake all other cars in two laps, because of the superior wets. The drivatars did not pit until the penultimate lap.
At first I had fun in changing my strategy due to changing weather conditions. In the end it´s just another case of poor AI programming. Had the drivatars reacted as well and pitted for wets - fine. By staying out on slicks: just stupid.
My experience was they had a mix of wet and hard tires in the Brands Hatch endurance race. It’s like they cheated.
But in my case (difficulty 4) they of course still couldn’t compete with me. I would probably have to increase it 6-8 to get in any danger.
Nah it’s that they did!
I afked but was watching and entering that little controller awake touch here and there, came in last but boy was it worth it seeing how the system works. No wonder it’s failing
It’s so bad. You can’t even check out what tires they use, then it just shows a “-” instead of the tires.
Well or it was exactly nothing not even “-” I can’t remember. It’s bad it’s really really bad.
It must be a secret Turn10 recipe, a setup that only they know what’s going on…
Maybe raceboy77 can log in and tell us!
I think they always drive medium tires until they are completly worn off, but they somehow don’t lose any traction. At least that is how I experienced it so far.
They always do pit stops like 2-3 laps after I do it.
And I don’t think they even need wet tires, they always have grip.
I’ve not experienced this. It depends on the moisture level. You are as fast on slicks, as is the AI until you see you spray coming from the rear. Them wets are quicker
It was wet from the get go but Turn10 as usual have to use bloody multipliers instead of real time cause it’s fake it till you make it.
Not worth arguing really
I will do something bad now, I will take a car and just do burnouts etc. trying to destroy the tires. Wanna bet if it works or not? I will use 3x multiplier like in the career races. And I will record it.
If you’re referring to the Brands Hatch event, even though it was wet from the flag I only needed to put wets on lap 9 (when the spray starts) I was in the lead and the AI also pitted on same lap.
Try it out
Am I evil, yes I am.
Metallica I think they covered that song.
Also the pace of the AI dropped off massively on the wet tyre
Said and done.
It works as intended, I didn’t believe in it tbh. It wears off tires and consumes gasoline just doing burnouts.
Why in the redacted can’t the chase camera keep up with the car?
I get that wasn’t the point of your test, but wasn’t it odd that you eventually seen the front of the car during the tire wear test?
