Game won't launch after Windows re-install

I did a clean install of Windows 11, and downloaded FH5 from the Windows Store. It has failed to load on 5 out of 7 attempts. The updated version was downloaded today, I’ve not used the clean install on the previous version.

Tried all suggested troubleshooting

@BlueMonday19 is this the same issue you previously reported?

The same problem but that issue was on another pc. I just restored my backup from before the clean install, reinstalled the game and it’s still not loading.

Have you removed all the software conflicts listed in this article?

Yes nothing is running

Will do. I 've had FH5 since the it was released, running on Windows 11. Did a clean install of Win11 last June, re-installed the game and it’s worked for a year without major problems.

Did a clean install the other day, re-installed the game (latest updated version) and it worked two times out of six. Restored my Windows backup yesterday as I had issues with the clean install, re-installed the game, now it won’t launch (so the same Windows install that’s been fine for a year). Installed to both the original SSD and a different one. I didn’t get to test the updated game on my original (working) Windows install as the update came after. SO it’s strange that it now won’t work on a system that it was working on

Performed using a Windows 11 ISO, which I’ve done several times. I literally installed Windows, the drivers and then the game. TO be honest there were only a couple of minor niggles but I was getting frustrated trying to reconfigure everything so I gave up. It wasn’t crashing or anything. I was just getting annoyed.

The game won’t now run even on my ‘old’ install (the image I restored from a time before doing the clean install), The game was working fine on that system.

It’s either a problem with the latest version of the game - the previous version was working - or possibly because I’m running Windows 11 Release Preview and an update has caused problems, this would be the first time that’s happened if that is the case. Won’t be able to check that until the next public build is released

I’ve been using RP builds for longer than Forza has been released, it’s never been an issue. But the fact the game had an update, Windows had an update and I changed my install drives all happening at once, will be hard to narrow it down.

The clean install yesterday was just drivers and a few other programs, all were already installed on my system before wiping the disk. The partition for games was also wiped so there was nothing on there, I created new partitions at the Windows setup screen.

I’ve installed at least 10 games today, all of them are loading without any problems. Including Forza 4

I’ve invested a lot of time in FH5, I play it every day after work to unwind. Got loads of achievements and cars etc. It’s so frustrating.

Yesterday I tried one more time to install. I uninstalled the game and installed through Windows Store instead of XBox app so it went into WindowsApps folder. I installed it to a blank SSD. Didn’t work.

Full credit to this person, I’ve now tried it twice and IT WORKED. Game loaded successfully. I literally kept spamming the Play button :joy:

Hopefully it’ll carry on working and the devs will sort it. Just happy I can play again now

Hopefully the devs will solve it, even clicking Play once during loading fixed the crash problem.
