Game locks up and freezes when closing after Update 18 (Steam)

The game keeps locking up. Closing the game freezes it, and I need to use task manager to fully close it. I’m running the steam version.

I’m going to try removing and reinstalling the game on a different M.2 in my PC. Before uninstalling the game, I checked Steam and I couldn’t find anything that said the game was updated. But next to the play time, it showed that the game was updated earlier today. It’s odd. Normally I’d see if the game had a patch on my Downloads page. Maybe I missed something.

Try the restore integrity function of the game files in the steam. It helped me solve my game freezing problems once. Maybe in your case the update didn’t install correctly either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

An integrity check probably would have fixed it. Well… I’m doing it the hard way. That’s what I get for being impatient.

After reinstalling and double checking the game’s integrity, the problem persists.

I just had the same issue on Xbox app on PC

I am going to run the game at vanilla graphics settings. My PC’s specs have become anemic again with this update. I don’t see why though. Nothing on the visual front has changed. Post processing seemed to be why the game was giving me CTDs and stuttering. Disabling all post processing seemed to fix my problem.

Also there seems to be some weirdness with Nvidia’s latest Nvidia app update. It rolled itself back to a prior update yesterday, behind something in updste 566 causing it not to launch at all. But, the PP filtering worked fine. Strange…
