Stutters, Crashes, Stuck on Splash screen... All since the latest update 13

Bug Info: Since the latest update the game stutters non stop in all game modes. I am constantly being booted back to the dashboard during online play, more frequent crashes when starting online races, and the game hangs on the initial splash screen on every first launch. Nothing in terms of settings has been changed and it ran fine prior to update 13.

I’m sure it’s been posted already but I didn’t have the patience to search and find it and I am just incredibly frustrated with the game. Just when it seems to be turning a corner, a whole host of problems that was there at launch comes back and it’s an exercise in frustration.

Platform: Windows PC
Edition: Premium
Account: Solo account
PC GPU: 4090 - Latest drivers

Settings: Everything is maxed out as it has been and running fine up until the latest update.
Attempted fixes: I have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling with no success. It also seems to have nothing to do with my hardware as the frame rate is consistent but major stutters. I haven’t gone to extreme lengths ie a new windows install as the game ran perfectly fine before the update. I have tried with v-sync and without, both via forza’s own and Nvidia control panel.

Content Update: It ran perfectly fine with not a single stutter, crash, or splash screen stall before the update. I am on a 4090, 32GB ram, a fast NVME, 14900k and regardless of settings graphically it makes no difference - again I have always ran it maxed out without issue, this includes DLAA.

I would be happy to give up the content in the latest update just to have the game run fine. The game is like Windows… When it works, it’s great but the constant problems that comes from each update or from simply turning the PC off and back on only to find crashes or syncing issues is incredibly frustrating. While we’re at it, it would also be wonderful to fix the ghosting trail that comes from using DLAA which has been reported since launch and still continues to ruin what is an otherwise beautiful looking game (when it works).

*Update - 18/10/2024: It seems after a second uninstall and reinstall things are somewhat better with no stutters on my initial test but I will update in case it does help anyone after a few more sessions.

*Update - 19/10/2024: I spoke too soon. There is still stutters although it has been reduced since reinstalling but it’s still present and there is more crashes occurring. Most races start with a stutter and steadies a little before returning. No matter which game mode or track. In a nutshell, update 13 has brought on a lot of issues. I shouldn’t have to mess round with settings after every update or reinstall.

After update 13, forza motorsport here became practically unplayable, in the training and qualifying sessions there are many crashes, sometimes losing 8 tenths per lap, it is irritating and ruins the game experience, which had been good lately.
Stuttering in training session

Another problem that came with the update (it’s funny, with each update 3 new bugs) is the full fuel tank bug, you set the fuel level before entering qualifying or training, but when you enter, the tank is full, forcing you to exit and enter again so that the game understands the desired amount of fuel.

It’s bizarre that this happens to a game that’s been on the market for 1 year. The question remains whether the developers are actually testing the game or whether we’re the ones paying to test it.

I’ve been wondering myself if they do test it, which is a weird thing to be thinking because you’d think "of course they’re testing it’’ but considering how you only need to play it for 2 mins to realise the issues are present, and that’s regardless of hardware setup, so the old excuse of there being too many variations to test doesn’t hold up and again, like you said it’s been on the market for 1 year and these issues were all present at launch, then fixed, then brought back.

The most painful thing is we now have to wait another month or two for the next update to fix these problems and the inevitable new issues that crops up.

It’s a shame too because I love the game when it works. I left GT7 because I enjoyed it that much but it does continue to be a frustrating game.

Credit given where it’s due. The latest patch fixed the stutters (at least on my initial test) it did get stuck on the first splash screen but has been fine since.

Well done turn 10 - although I’d be more focused on figuring out how we avoid this happening in future updates, so more time can be spent on other things or the lingering bugs ie DLAA ghosting but none the less - thanks for fixing it quickly.

It seems the stuttering is indeed gone with hotfix 13.1.

However, today I’ve experienced my first crash in many months. It happened in replay after a race in Mid-Engine Tour, when switching between point of interest cameras at Le Mans (layout with chicanes).

Platform: PC/Steam.

Thank you all for your input. We have been working diligently to improve the performance of the game with each Update. To make sure we have the most up-to-date information on performance and crash issues you all are experiencing, we will be closing out this old thread and encourage you to open new ones so we can better triage and monitor. Thank you.
