Using the cheap Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 wheel, it doesn’t seem to recognize steering wheel or pedal inputs and goes dim ten minutes into an active race. I just have to press a button on it to light things back up, but still seems odd it never did this before. I’ve done the hard reset procedure, didn’t change anything. Help!
I’m getting the same dimming issue as well, but my hardware is different. I use a Thrustmaster TMX wheel, T3PA pedals and the TH8A shifter. I also have my standard controller connected via USB so I can use the headset. About 10 or 15 minutes into a race the screen seriously dims. The only way to make it brighten is to move one of the controller sticks. This has only been happening for the past couple of weeks so may not be related to the August 2 update.
The sound in the headset used to drop out after 10 minutes or so because the controller would go to sleep. Connecting via USB solved that. The dimming is a new one. Anyone else?
Cheers!

I’m seeing the same thing. I am using a TMX wheel.
The same yesterday evening during a 3 laps race on the Nordschleife. I was thinking it was a TV problem. I was using my TX wheel.
So all Thrustmaster wheels are concerned.
Is it a XBOX problem or a FM6 problem, for you ?
Sounds more like an Xbox One issue, introduced with the latest Xbox Live update in various areas like external hard drives not working after a certain period of time, Kinect devices shutting themselves down (or not even starting), etc., etc.
I suggest doing a full Hard Restart as described here: http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm528894_Losing-saves---What-can-I-do-to-prevent-it.aspx#post_528894
Looking like the CU from this morning addressed this issue, hasn’t happened all morning, as I’ve struggled to get a decent clean lap at Monza.
You had a CU today ??
I did have an update, but it doesn’t look like it fixed it, I just had it happen again. I’m doing another hard reset now, will post results
Nothing different, sorry to say.
Did the hard reset a second time, ten minutes in, screen goes dim.
???
@Snowowl Can you report this problem to T10, please ?
I’ve applied the latest update to the console, and played quite a bit of Pcars and Dirt Rally last night with a Thrustmaster TMX wheel setup with no issues. BUT, I do not have the controller on at the same time as I wasn’t playing online and did not need my headset. Why modern wheels don’t have headset ports these days is beyond me.
I have the same problem. Microsoft is WELL aware of the problem but have NOT commented on it. Video streaming is also affected (Infected?) the exact same way. Screen dims unless controller connected and button pushed.
Why is it this only happens at a critical point in a race? I’ve been tapping look back Y button but recovery isn’t instant.
I did the hard reset and I’m still experiencing the dimming, about every 10 minutes or so. Very inconvenient when I’m already driving at night!
Spoke with MS support about this, tried all the normal stuff, checked my network, reset the unit, my router, etc, all normal, no answers. Suggested I contact Thrustmaster, which I’ve now done as well. I will post anything I hear back from TM, but I’m sure we’re caught in the middle, as their hardware is no longer playing nicely with the MS software. The cheapy wheel I’ve got cannot be updated that I’m aware of, will be interesting to see what comes of this. Most likely, lots of pressing “Y” in the middle of races . . .
Do you have the TH8A shifter ?
No, mine is the cheapest wheel they make, the red-rimmed 458 Spider version. No shifter other than the paddles built onto it.
It isn’t just Thrustmaster wheels, there’s a person in this thread having the issue with a Fanatec setup. Has to be either the latest console update, or the game itself.
I’m still suspecting it is the latest Xbox One software release. I have a “keyboard” (or “chatpad”) on my USB-connected controller, and the keyboard goes dead (not the controller) until I unplug and plug the USB connector out/in again. It never did that before the recent X1 update.
BTW - Lots of reports of the “dimming” on the Xbox One beta forums, too, but in Forza Horizon 2 on the X1. Seems this is NOT limited to Forza Motorsport 6.
OK, I’ve just tested my wheel with Project Cars, and it dimmed at 10 minutes, as in FM6.
It’s not a game’s issue but an XBOX issue…
