Sorry if posted in wrong forums, didnt see a Technical Support forum and saw others posting similar lost game data issues in the general discussion forums.
Fired up forza5 earlier in the week and a box popped up about syncing data. Had an option to choose the hard drive save from the day before or a cloud save from weeks ago. Choose the console save and waited for 15+ mins (network → bandwidth usage showed 10kb/sec download). At 99% a box popped up stating something about being unable to connect to the cloud and to try again. I hit retry and launched into game. Unfort. it was a brand new game as I was prompted with the intro video then tutorial race. Start → Menu → Quit Forza 5 and relaunched and had the same blank save. Searched the forums and read about being able to delete your local save and force usage of the cloud save but after resyncing from cloud I had the same save so that didnt fix the issue either. Is there any way to load an older revision of the cloud save? Any way to restore any of my credits / cars / levels or am I out of luck? Doubt I would continue with the game if I had to start over.
Havent heard anything yet, is there some form I should fill out or a better way to raise a support request than on the forums (or some sort of ticketing system that goes thru turn10 instead of xbox live support)?
Same issue. Chose Xbox instead of cloud and started me all over. Don’t know if my data still exists on the cloud and that would be nice. It’s Microsoft so I don’t think so.
In all likelihood, it wouldn’t. You should never get prompted with a message like that, unless something has already gone wrong with the save. From what I’ve read previously, the safest bet would be (assuming you’re playing on a single console only) to exit out of the game, delete the local save, hard reset the console for good measure, and then start a fresh sync from the cloud and let it complete, however long this may take (I’ve just been through a full re-sync and it took 4 days with countless re-tries). In the end even that will come down to sheer luck, but I’d think it would give you the best chances of keeping at least something. Also, if you can’t connect, don’t play. Playing offline at any point will only risk your data.
