I was running the GT cars in career mode at VIR full earlier.
On the last lap I was a little wide coming over the rise before the finish and went off in the grass.
I crossed the line off to the left in the grass then the car went into auto drive as usual for a few seconds still in the grass then desktop
I restarted the game and had to run the race again, this time making sure to stay on the track and no problem.
This is the first time I have had a crash of this sort and may very well be the first time I crossed the line not on the track.
Another thing I do not know if it is related to the last patch or not but after the patch I went into the off roaders event and had severe stuttering at the beginning of the race. Happened like 3 or 4 times right at the beginning up to the first corner then seemed to be pretty much ok. These stutters were full freeze frame, the worst I have saw in Forza almost though the game had hung or was about to crash to the desktop.
This morning I went back to that event and saw the same thing at the start of the race. So far this is the only track/event that I have saw this issue on and I had not been there before the patch so I do not know if it was there before. The event in question is I think in the domination series with the off road trucks, 1st race I think it was at COTA from the start up to the first corner is where the problem showed itself, same both times I ran it.

With the older patch of Forza i used to have that sometimes, i suspect somehow something goes wrong with the AI calculations, spiking my CPU usage for a few seconds while the GPU activity lowers.
Here you see a little dip in GPU activity while that “stutter” happens, i didn’t capture the CPU usage at that point tho but it was spiking from 30% to like 80% on my i7-7700K

I just went to Daytona in the GT-R FE. Something I have did several times already before the patch the only issue was after 50 laps [on a clean session] the graphics would start to get flaky dropping textures by 90 laps or so the track would be disappearing.
I wanted to test it after the latest patch. Got about 5 laps in and crashed to desktop. So prior to the patch I had not had a single crash to desktop during a race, today I have had two already.
Also when I restarted the game it showed the download arrow on all of the DLC cars and when I tired to get into the GT-R FE I was driving before it came up to purchase for $19.99
I close the game and the xbox app then restarted both and the download arrows are gone and was able to get back in the car. Going to Daytona now to try again.
Will report back after I have either completed the race and the test for missing textures or it has crashed again.
This happened to me after racing NASCAR on the Miami track after I applied the patch. I was able to do several other races beforehand. I had no crashes before this last patch.
So I went back to Daytona and completed a 50 lap race in the GT-R FE. Some stuttering a couple of times but mostly smooth.
On lap 50 I could see one of the fence panels in turn 1 flicker in an out briefly which is exactly what it would do before.
Once you see a fence panel flicker in and out it begins to get worse with each lap afterwards first its one then two or three and before long it is half the corner fence then pretty much all of it. by lap 90 fence is being lost down the back stretch and the road near the entrance of turn one isn’t drawn until you get to about the start line. by lap 100 it isn’t drawn until you are pretty much there or in the case of something as fast as an Indy car you are driving on it before it appears.
So the patch didn’t seem to change anything related to the missing textures. I’m not sure about the crash at Daytona, that had never happened before. I did load a tune from the main menu then accessed the upgrades after loading the track to modify the build a little, test drove a few laps, paused and made a couple of tweaks then started the race and as I mention in the previous post it crashed to desktop somewhere around lap 5 then I had to restart the twice to get access to the car again.
I’ll take a look at the event viewer and see if there is any clues in there as to what may have happened.
Also I would like to point out that the missing textures that I am seeing are not related to rewind, I never touched it at all, and they are not due to high graphics settings. I have lowered the settings multiple times along the way to test, most things are set to low, med or off in this last run and no change at all from when the settings were higher nor from when it was using default settings, tried full screen and windowed view no difference in any of them after 50 laps on Daytona the problem consistently presents itself with every setting I have tried. Is more noticeable with faster cars. For my testing purposes I have been using either that GT-R which is tuned to top out at 216mph or the Indy car which is tuned to top out at 253mph. I’m not sure if you would notice the problem nearly as soon if driving a car that topped out under 200 mph but am pretty sure it would still happen.
Here is some of the detail from the event viewer log of the crash

I am also seeing errors in the log related to runtimebroker.exe and something related to a force feedback dll. In a couple of cases over the last couple of days it seems that this lines up with the game crashes but then I see the same type of entry when the game has not crashed. Could it be possibly that when ever I stop and restart the game it is triggering that error event where the dll is unloaded?
Guess I’ll need to experiment with that a bit as well.
Well I fired the game up on the XB1, broke out my old wheel and tried the Daytona test on it. No missing textures. On the PC they first start on lap 50 and get progressively worse. I ran a 50 lap on the XB1, no flicker, no stutter, just smooth. I started another 50 just to see as sometimes on the PC you do not see it till lap 51 but 60 laps in still perfect, I went to a total of 70 before I was to bored to continue and called it quits but the test did show that the issues many of us are seeing is not happening on my XB1
The only issue I have on Xbox one continues to be racing on Maple Valley within a championship series. It will lock up the game, booting to the dashboard, or almost all the textures disappear, and the only way to see where the track is, is turn on full race line. 95% of the time there’s no textures, it crashes on the second lap
Turn USB Suspend off, and see if that make a difference.
There are options in Device-Manager to turn off “allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” for USB hubs and such.
Check these categories in Windows Device-Manager “Human Interface Devices” and “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”
Also in Control-Panel - Power-Options - Advanced Power Options - there is a option called “usb selective suspend setting” (should be disabled)
But you can also set Power-Options to “High Performance Plan”
