Funny drivatar crashes

The other day I witnessed the funniest drivatar crash in recent memory, the whole thing was made supper funny because I had done the exact same thing two races before at the exact same place. We were at Road Atlanta, there were about 5 cars directly in front of me. While racing up the hill on the long straight the drivatars started to get a little rough and one got pushed out into the grass on the left just as they crested the hill and went through the dog leg. I was just behind giggling that “this is not going to end well”, so I let off way early. As the other 4 cars went around the corner the 5th one sliding through the grass perfectly T-boned the front most car pushing both it and the car next to it across the track and the other 2 rear most cars got jumbled up and there was a pretty little opening just big enough for my car to squish through.

The whole sequence of events was pushed aside until two laps later when I worked myself into first, I then started to run it back through my head, and I had to pause the game, I was laughing so hard the water in my eyes was distorting my television screen. Now it’s not as funny but then I was a mess, usually it is me who is sliding through the grass hoping I’ll hit the cars so I don’t just run into the wall/sand/grass on the other side, and usually I miss all of them, or just clip one and end up sliding/spinning and having to claw my way back after I finally get straight.

AI has always been suspect in racing games, and usually it’s because they never make mistakes. In my experience unless you actually give them a push they are not going to move, but this game the AI drives a lot more like a real human, or at least more like me. And except for the smashy smashy on the first corner, especially at long beach, I quite enjoy their mistakes.

Has anyone else had funny crashes?

I’ve seen many a Drivatar crash into one of the tire barriers near the end of the lap on Silverstone GP in wet conditions, and sometimes they might still be sitting there when I go by there on the next lap.

One day I came around the corner and there was 7-8 of them stacked up in the tires not knowing what to do. They just kept ramming the barrier and wandering around further off track. I backed up to see what was up with them and one by one the system plucked them out and put them back on track and they’d take off. I bet you could stop in that turn to force the pack wide and they’d all end up in there stuck. I don’t think they “see” the barrier.

My drivatar should take a breathalyzer. I’m glad that when it takes over it doesn’t control the wheel otherwise both of my wrists would be broken.

I think it’s funny. I have seen them get stuck on a tire barrier, try like heck and get unstuck, just to get stuck in the very same place again.
