how can turn 10 fix it so that your friends drivatars don’t cause so many wrecks. seems like they made it that way on purpose .
All i can say is get used to it or try racing cleaner and the drivatars get cleaner.
Sadly that’s not always true. I’ve played with several forum members online and we try to have fun and race clean always. Some people are clean and fast and almost always avoid contact.
Typically this is reflected in the drivatar. I have seen SatNiteEduardo’s drivatar start slow and end up in the top with no visual damage after a three lap race at times. That said, I’ve also never been so frustrated with a drivatar as when he wrecks me repeatedly and no amount of rewind or restart can solve it short of switching difficulty and back to get new drivatars.
It really is a toss up sometimes and feels like the AI simply have player names over them. I also think it depends on your internet connection, how recently drivatars were updated on your box, and how recently said player played the game. During the lifetime of FM5 there have been several changes to the drivatar system as it has been worked on, and most of the changes I have seen have been for the better.
question is Turn Ten and Microsoft putting a stop to cheater cars so we can race fair and build cars like real drivers and mechanics do in real racing or its the same
As far as I know the gamers drivatar will mimick their gameplay, so if your friends drivatar is wrecking on purpose your buddy may be doing it as well.
We race with friends and can you say they are dirty racers, I don’t think so! There is obviously coding for some reaction but its always the same and when a car your friend is driving veres into you on a straight with obvious intent, then in another, and another etc race it is happening, and half the time your friend does not even own the type of car his drivatar is driving(so how can it have stats to use for his drivatar if he has never driven one?). If you also note how often 4th and 5th place purposely slow down to block you whilst 1st, 2nd and 3rd places zoom off into the distance to @make racing more competitive@ happens, shows its down to coding!!! So change it Turn 10 cause the Drivatars are making the crash teams in the hoppers look like apparentices lol!
i agree it has to be turn 10 codeing in game they need to fix it
Friends drive normal online, the drivatars (friends) always crash into you
The drivatars are fine if you drive clean so will they if you start crashing into the drivatars then dont be surprised that you get some payback from the AI. I have great close clean racing with the AI infact its the best AI i have ever driven with.
can someone explain why when on a short straight the ai drivatars drift across for no reason intentionally to wreck you
they have a major shunt on the first bend yet sustain no engine damage or one ends up of road in what i call quick sand grass yet suffers no loss in performance
The drivatars are not perfect but they are what they are. If you drive against the drivatars as clean as possible they to will try to race clean. They also drive like your friends to a certain point. If they block on the straight their drivatar will also try to block you on the straight. The coding isnt perfect but when i race career mode and race clean i usually can make it through a whole race with only minor scrapes on the car. Remember you dont have to get first to get gold. You dont have to force your way through on the first turn or on any turn for that matter. Be patient and you will get a clean race vs drivetars for the most part.
Is there any way to block a friends drivatar without blocking him as an xbox live friend. I ask because he drives like an idiot, he uses other cars as his brakes and it ruins the career mode experience quite often. any replies would be appreciated.
This has been discussed in countless threads. Everyone has an opinion based on their experience. If they had your experience, their reply would be different. Long story short, everyone has a different experience with drivatars. No one but Turn 10 devs can answer this question and they refuse to chime in. So we’re left to guess.
My experience? I’ve seen drivatars crash into me intentionally countless times, t-bone me, pit me, top speed thru the sand and grass to get to me, etc. But I’ve also had races where they were cool. I’ve experimented a million times. To the people who say that if you drive clean, they will… This is simply not true if you have problem drivatars. For some unknown reason YOUR drivatars are simply cleaner driving. I can drive clean in 100 races and in 50 of them, 2 or 3 of the drivatars will be on a mission.
Now, what I think needs to be answered is, do your friends play cat-n-mouse? (I know T10 hasn’t officially added it to the game but some set up races to play a form of it) or Tag, Virus, or Keep the It? Any of these contact races? I believe that that may have something to do with it sometimes but that’s just a theory. If so, their drivatars have learned to intentionally make contact during races.
But until the Turn 10 guy who programmed drivatars chimes in, we can only flounder in our speculations.
The “AI learning” process was mentionned often a lot in FM4, and maybe FM3 if my memory serves me well. The thing is, the AI in previous Forza games always had a pattern : it wouldn’t give room if you were side-by-side, it would brake-check if their racing line suggested them to do so or an object would be in front of them, it would divebomb if you gave the slightest room, etc., no matter if you were driving clean/dirty. I’ve noticed the same pattern in FM5, only at a different scale dependly of the drivatar (which is hardly any different from an AI). I don’t believe anyone that says the AI in FM5 learns from your habits.
they should go back to forza 1 style where you could choose to train your drivatar at any time to improve it. you could even race drivatar vs drivatar to see who trained the best.
I’ve noticed that the cleaner you race, the cleaner the drivatars tend to race. However, some days the drivatars drive like idiots. I’ve seen them brake in the middle of a straight for no reason I can think of.
Another problem I have with them is going into a turn. If I am behind a drivatar and I want to avoid hitting him, I apply the brakes a little early to avoid this. The drivatar then makes a perfect term. If I decided to wait for the proper time to hit the brakes, the drivatar brakes early and I plow into the back of him. I guess this is part of the drivatar’s programming. If the real person makes 10% of his turns perfectly, the drivatar will make 10% of his turns perfectly. I found it is usually better to error on the side of caution and break a little early. However, I have had the drivatar behind me then plow into me. I guess that’s racing.
remember your friends drivatar was being programmed when they 1st started racing, thats why the drivatar sync % goes up. remember when you started playing career and you had to bash your way thru on the 1st turn since you started in last place and didn’t have enough laps to wait for traffic to thin out? the race was gonna be over before the tires even heated up? thats why drivatars race dirty. its not how they are racing now, its how they raced when the drivatar % was climbing rapidly. perhaps turn ten need to re do the drivatars so new races replace the data from the old races, but we all raced dirty when we started career…we had to. there weren’t enough laps not to.
I tried an experiment last night. I went to free play and set up about 5 races. I set the drivatars to expert to give me a challenge that I knew I could beat. I then competed in the races with the intent of avoiding collisions. I had set the laps high enough so I could pass all the drivatars without hitting them.
I didn’t avoid all collisions. We did bump, usually side to side during a pass. I think I got hit hard from behind in the second race but that was the only hard collision. It seemed the more I raced politely, the more polite the drivatars became. Either that or I became better at avoiding them. The thing that really amazed be was I was going through a couple of turns where I’ve been hit a lot and I was among a couple of drivatars. I was positive I was going to be hit. I avoiding ramming the drivatar in front of me and the drivatar behind me didn’t ram me. I was amazed.
it really is a product the lap count being too low/starting without enough time. when you changed the situation you changed behavior, yours and theirs. with plenty of laps to go you think i could probably make it but if i dont i am going to lose a ton of time, i’ll be cautious and make this pass later when its safer. the odds of me winning go up if i wait for a better time. later in the race you are thinking i am low on time, i need to go for it so i have plenty of time to catch the drivers farther ahead. i will probably make it and if i dont take the chance i might run out of time. best odds of winning again. if you are a ways back with a couple of laps to go you’ll make the move even if the odds are 50/50 because if you dont make the move you’ll run out of time to catch the leader. and on the last lap forget about it. you are thinking i only have a 10% chance of not wrecking, but i have a 0% chance of winning if i dont pull it off. even 10% is better than 0%. best odds of winning. its always best odds of winning. with 2 or 3 laps your best odds of winning from the rear are to force your way thru the pack. forza basically starts the race at the end of the race. not only does that make everyone more agressive and willing to take higher risks just like what happens in real life races, it bunches them all together so with a 50/50 chance there are gonna be half that dont make it, often taking someone else with them. then they have to push even harder to make up the ground they lost, have to brake later into corners etc… . its always situational, best odds, and starting off in a bad situation.
i brought this up a month or 2 ago. but fan boys shot me down. the other ai will not race you clean if you are . the driveatard takes an average of the driving. then uses that as a base. i have been dive bomb. been half way though a turn to just get tboned from ai cutiing corner and going threw grass to hit me. rear ended from ai no brakes ect ect ect. o the best is break checking . u know what break checkings from from blocking in game thats how it uses blocking. it was cool concept time to rewind. on side note if the next forza doesnt have at least 25 different tracks and over 50 different leauges like ff fr mr awd 90s 80s series ect i wont be buying. im tired of the same even gt 3 4 5 6 does better in this catorgy
