Forzathon Shop car cost discussion thread

I just spent 800 points to buy the 2018 Civic Type R that I didn’t get the chance to collect before, and I thought the Hummer that costed me 600 points was expensive. You only get 400 points from doing the weekly challenge and daily challenge plus bonus. Then you have to grind Forzathon live to get more points.

Assuming you do one per day that’s 420 points a week. So in total you get 820 points a week. Is that enough? For now I think. But what if in the very near future the cars cost 1k points or more (because it seems to me they are continuely increasing the price)? Then you’d have to do quite a bit of grinding to get enough points. For those who don’t mind grinding and have enough free time this wouldn’t at all be a challenge. But many people just wouldn’t be able to get this many points. Then they would have to either spend a fortune to get them in auction house, if people would sell them in the first place, or wait for them to become avaiable in Forzathon shop again. None of these would be ideal.

So I hope the prices wouldn’t go up too much (ideally below 1k points). But if they do, then I hope we get more points from the events.

No, they just don’t want to make Forza Horizon 4 the center of their life.

I bought the Horizon 4/Xbox S bundle on Black Friday. It took another 2 weeks actually download FH4 because I have terrible internet (Hughesnet, which is also why I can’t play online). But in that time I played FH4 probably 5 times a week, probably 10-12 hours a week, close to 100 hours now. I have basically finished all the events (including Fortune Island). I am basically done with the game, the only thing that keeps me is making custom routes and the hope of getting new cars I want via Forzathon

Yet I cannot afford cars at 800 a piece. I think I have earned maybe 2000 FP total? I was earning 200 a week until I bought the house (which admittedly, I should have done earlier, but I didn’t know about it in the first place), now I get 400. So basically it takes 2 weeks to earn a car at 800 each. I’m sitting at like 1000 now, but while I want the Civic, for all I know there will be a car I want even more next week at 800 or 1000 (or more) and won’t be able to afford it if I do buy the Civic now.

So basically, this kills any interest I have in Forza (and sadly, the Xbox in general), since I can’t afford new cars anymore, apparently.

Things like this car are worth the cost because they are only obtainable through the Forzathon Shop (cars like the Bone Shaker, Gymkhana Hoonicorn Mustang, Civic CRX Mugen, KTM X-Bow GT4, etc.). Personally, I save all my FP to spend only on Forzathon Shop Exclusive vehicles and buy multiples as these rarely come up. To me there is no point spending FP on anything that can be obtained through a wheelspin (I am fortunate enough to have obtained all wheelspin exclusive vehicles after some luck and grinding over 10,000 skill points and unlocking every wheelspin perk of every car I collected, which took about 400 hours of gameplay and over a thousand wheelspins, but hey… what else is there to do with your time while you wait with your convoy of friends for a ranked games team adventure, which takes much longer than FFA or Team Racing). So I will most likely go home and spend a chunk of the 5,000+ FP on a few of these Honda Civics, then keep banking FP till the next Forzathon Shop Exclusive vehicle shows up.

You should definitely NEVER spend FP on wheelspins, super wheelspins, clothes (unless exclusive to the Forzathon Shop - which ironically it looks like this weeks is a shop exclusive Blue race suit).

If you buy wheelspin exclusive cars such as the Hummer, Limo, Forza Edition cars, etc. I view it as the same concept of accepting the offer to unlock a Barn Find car faster using CR than to just waiting for your buddy to restore it and have it for free. Patience is a virtue. If you want to pay a premium to obtain something sooner, it is entirely up to you. But cars that are Forzathon Shop exclusives, I will always buy, and usually blow a large amount of FP for multiples on ones I think will be of large value on the market.

If you want to see the entire list of cars as well as some cars upcoming (such as the Cadillac Escalade in Series 6 update) you can go here and sort the “unlock” tab alphabetically to see how each car in the game can be obtained. There are a couple of typos or missing info, but for the most part this is a solid list of understanding what “green common” cars are actually rare 20+ million CR piggy bank cars (wheelspin exclusives, forzathon exlusives, event prizes, etc.) to sit on. Also note, some vehicles were also awarded as Ranked League Season rewards (Chevy ZR2, P2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ferrari 812 Superfast, Ford Capri FE, etc.)

The current prices are OK I’m just worry that if the prices go up too much like 1500 or 2000 points there would be problems. Also, spending points to unlock wheelspin exclusive cars is definitely not the same as spending CR to immediately unlock barn find cars that you’d otherwise get for free. Because unlocking barn find cars for free doesn’t involve luck, whereas unlocking wheelspin ones for free do. You might get lucky, you might not, there’s no guarantee. I’ve got all barn find cars for free because I was willing to wait for a bit. But I’ve yet to get some wheelspin ones for free from wheelspin because I’ve been… unlucky.

Oh and I definitely don’t spend my precious points on anything else or I wouldn’t even have enough points left to buy cars.

The prices are based on the average amount of FP that each player currently has in the game. So players with the same mindset as myself that save their points to obtain the rarest of vehicles that appear in the Forzathon Shop as exclusives (which could appear once a year for a 1 week period or even rarer) are driving prices up. So if you look at the pricing over the past month or two, you will notice that based on these increases the MAJORITY of the FH4 community is saving their points and building up a bank or they just don’t care to spend their FP on anything and are just sitting on a big wad of FP for no reason. But the fact is these price hikes prevent us “FP Point Hoarders” from buying up boat loads of these vehicles and selling them for 20+ million a pop. When the Bone Shaker first came out, I think it only cost like 150 FP, so one of my buddies bought 28 of these and eventually sold them all for 10-50 million each. See post below for confirmation on what drives Forzathon Shop pricing:

https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm1054424_-Forzathon-Shop-car-cost-discussion-thread.aspx#post_1054424

Maybe with this week’s Forzathon Exclusive vehicle a lot of the players that save for this reason will deplete their banks and the pricing might drop next week and the cycle will restart with prices climbing again until another item appears that depletes their banks again. The world of economics…

I can bet if they re-listed the Bone Shaker in the shop for 2000 FP that would bring the following weeks prices after that crashing back down because everyone will have emptied their banks…

No wonder prices going up when there is not be pretty nothing where you can spend those points, i have about 3000 points and i havent do weekly challenges in months and hourly forzathons i havent do in long time either because it’s been pointless to grind points. I have buy only exclusive cosmetics and cars, i almost buy hummer but i forgot that when garage patch comes live (i buy one in auction house in october and i still have never won that car is wheelspins) and i agree that if cars like superfast and bone shaker re-listed in higher prize those would drop prices when many people want to get those cars.

It’s a rare Civic

The problem is you can’t even “grind” points if you want to. There’s one Forzathon Live event about once an hour (That’s 1440 extra points for 24 hours of playing IF you have VIP). Your whole life including the hours you usually sleep would have to be spent staring at the game waiting for the next event. They’re really encouraging screen addiction with their actions. It’s really devious and unhealthy. That’s about the most polite way I can say it.

No is the answer to your question… Y’know since it’s a rare that ISN’T available in Autoshow and all that…

Well I’m not sure where Krystal is getting stats from, PC or the consoles, if you complete the weekly challenges, you have enough for 1 car, let alone 2 (if you don’t already own one of them). Lots of folks don’t play online either. How much more FP points are out there to obtain so that this doesn’t become a burden down the line?

It’s getting clear to me that they made some aspects of FH4 into a mobile type game with focus on engagement. As we all know, “engagement” stats are all the rage now.
Log in everyday for a challenge, stay online for something, unlock clothing items (-_-), etc, etc.

IMO “engagement” has never been the issue. You can’t just put little efforts into the game and expect the game to be generous when it comes to rewards. The more you play, the more you get, that’s the way it should be.

So what’s the issue? I think the answer is time limit. I didn’t like it, still don’t like it and will most certainly not like it. “Complete X objectives to get Y rewards” is very different from “Complete X objectives within Z time to get Y rewards” The latter means you no longer have the flexibility of when to play, how long to play and what to do, if you want to get the rewards. Either follow their schedule, or say good bye to the rewards. Doesn’t sound very nice, does it?

They could make me drive 3000km or win 150 street races to get one nice car, not a problem, I would gladly do it. I could complete the objectives within 3 days If I’ve got nothing better to do, or I could do it slowly, 100km or 5 races a day, or I could go on a vacation for 3 weeks and do it after I’m back. Flexibility, that’s the keyword here.

I spent some time in FM6 and FH2 recently to get some cars I didn’t get. That’s one of the things I miss about older Forza games: you’re never too late to get a car you want (except for those from DLCs of course). The same can’t be said for recent titles, however.

So I was a little curious about just how much inflation we are seeing in the Forzathon Shop and did some research. It seems that the 2018 Honda Civic Type R is the first Forzathon Shop Exclusive to reappear in the shop so far. There have been other appearances of other former Forzathon Shop Exclusive cars in other event rewards or ranked league rewards, but the 2018 Civic Type R appears to be the first time a Forzathon Shop Exlusive reappered in the Forzathon Shop. The 2018 Honda Civic Type R first showed up in the Forzathon Shop on 10/18/2018 for 150FP and is now 800FP in this weeks shop (533% inflation).

Forzathon Shop Exclusive Cars:
9/27/2018: Ford Capri RS3100 FE (Only available to streamers and early early access players before the ultimate edition access) 300FP was also awarded for Series 4 Ranked Adventure Grandmaster rewards
10/4/2018: 2017 Ferrari 812 Superfast 200FP (I want to say this was also a Ranked League Reward at some point, but I can’t remember)
10/11/2018: 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 140FP also awarded as a Ranked League Reward Series 2 Tier 15 (I think)
10/18/2018: 2018 Honda Civic Type R 150FP
11/1/2018: 2011 Hot Wheels Bone Shaker 175FP
11/8/2018: 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 175FP also awarded as a Ranked League Reward Series 3 Tier 10 or 15 (I think)
11/15/2018: 1965 Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Ford Hoonicorn Mustang 200FP
11/22/2018: 2017 Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Ford Fiesta ST 200FP
11/29/2018: 2018 KTM X-Bow GT4 200FP
12/6/2018: 2016 Gymkhana 10 Ford Focus RS RX 200FP
12/13/2018: 1984 Honda Civic CRX Mugen 200FP
2/7/2019: 2018 Honda Civic Type R 800FP

As for Wheelspin Exclusives in the Forzathon Shop (I am ignoring FE cars because those are very easily obtained from the AH, except for the guy that is trying to corner the Lamborghini Aventador FE market on the AH):

1/17/2019: 2013 Cadillac XTS Limousine 500FP
1/24/2019: 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo 600FP (was also a reward in Ranked Adventure Series 1 Tier 10)
1/31/2019: 2006 Hummer H1 Alpha 600FP

On a side note, this could be a sign to come that the Bone Shaker might make a reappearance soon and if it is at the same inflation rate as the 2018 Civic Type R you would be looking at 900-1000FP for it… or it might appear as a Ranked Adventure Tier Reward… Imagine how crazy some people might go if they blew their FP savings on the Honda Type R only to see a Bone Shaker show up the next week and they no longer have the FP to buy that… O.o

Lol… now you have me worried about whether I can afford to buy this 2018 Civic and have enough time to farm FP in the off case you are right…

Yeah, this would add a whole 'nother level to the term “Buyer’s Remorse” ;p

With FP being probably the most valued Forza Horizon 4 “monetary unit” as it is the most time consuming to grind (where CR and Skill Points are more easily obtained)… It definitely gives a feel of Buyer’s Remorse to those that are tight on FP. Luckily in real life there are protections in place for these types of things: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0176-buyers-remorse-when-ftcs-cooling-rule-may-help

Sarcasm incoming: maybe you can submit a ticket requesting two copies of a cancellation form in case you do get Buyer’s Remorse and feel like changing your mind in the near future to get your FP back. (Although ironically the Cooling-Off Rule does not apply to online purchases or the purchase of vehicles, not sure about imaginary vehicles).

So looks like Jadigafer7 called it, the Boneshaker is back in Series 6, but luckily it sounds like it won’t cost FP, but instead be won in a seasonal PVP Playground Games event.

800 FP for a Civic… I really like this game but Playground tries its best to make me drop it. :frowning:

I already have this car but it must suck for people who just got the game.

Yeah, for newcomers and people who don’t / can’t play online (many console gamers don’t have xbox live gold) this inflation is becoming a burden. I know the spike in prices prevent those that have got tons of points from buying loads of the same cars and sell them for a huge profit. But perhaps they could limit the amount you can buy instead of raising the prices so that others don’t get “punished” just because some people are abusing the shop to make a huge profit?

800 FP for a Honda!? It doesn’t feel like an 800 FP car. I think maybe someone slipped an extra zero in there.

Well that’s just great. Been kind of saving up points and keeping it about 1000 and spending extra on super wheelspins. Now with the 800 point Civic, I won’t be able to afford whatever comes next week.

Pretty stupid to raise the prices by that much and not have any extra ways to earn more points. Not everyone has no job or life and can stare at Horizon 24 hours a day so they can play every Forzathon Live event (which is what will have to be done to get enough points at the current prices and if the prices keep rising). This makes not getting the weekly bonus points (or getting the back points) an even bigger smack in the face. Personally, I’m over being someone who has to get every rare car at this point anyway after the riprod fiasco.
