I have a little over 700FP. I have purchased this season’s Maserati Levante from the Forzathon shop, but I have not yet bought the Ford Falcon XB, which I do not own. I have enough to buy it, BUT:
I am going to Hawaii this Saturday and not coming back for over a week. I will not have time to earn much FP when the new season starts later this week.
So… if I spend the 700FP on the Falcon XB which I KNOW I don’t have, and they release 1 or 2 things I want with a high FP cost later this week, I won’t be able to get those cars. Since I’ll be away. So maybe I should save the points I have so that I make sure I can buy whatever comes later this week.
But… what if the stuff in the shop next season sucks? Or I have them both already? I will have skipped buying the Falcon XB for nothing.
But if they decided to finally release the Ferrari 812 in the Forzathon shop again this week, and I’ve spend my points, and have no time to earn more in time… I will kick myself.
What would you do?
Summary: this limited availability system for cars is beginning to grind my gears. The uncertainty of knowing whether I should spend my points now or not is making me resent going to Hawaii. Which is just stupid on the face of it.
Would be nice if we had a published schedule for Forzathon shop offerings, the same way we know what all the seasonal playlist rewards are at the beginning of the new series. So we could plan our points spending and not freak out when we have to (gasp) be away from the game for a while. The game seems to punish players for having other things to do.
Playing the game normally without cheating, without having legendary status I have bought every car in the game, and I have 120 million just for fun… spare cash. That’s from using the auction. Learn the auction, and you don’t need anything. The only things that should go in the Forzathon shop are unreleased cars in my opinion, else you aren’t playing the game properly.
Actually, I made 10 Million today without even trying.
No, you’re right… I am going to wait. Since there’s a chance that whatever comes out this week in the shop will be something I want more than the Falcon XB. I mostly posted in hopes of highlighting how annoying the limited availability stuff can be for anyone who can’t count on being able to log in almost every single day of their life.
That’s cool. The thing is, I could swear I bought a racing/adventure game, not an auction house simulator.
Fact is, I check the auction house at least a couple times each time I log in. But the cars I want to find (Ferrari 812, Subaru WRX Sti '04, Hot Wheels Mustang & Rip Rod) are never there. And right now, I was hoping someone would put a Falcon XB on auction so I could buy it there instead of spending FP, but I haven’t been able to find a single one of those either.
Maybe I would find them if I checked the auction house over and over and over and over constantly, but that’s not really a game I’m excited to play. I’d rather be racing/driving to earn cars.
The “epic” Ford Falcon XB is actually still a wheelspin car as I just got it the other day for leveling up several times and then doing a few wheelspins. Although, for some weird reason, if you fully upgrade it, the vehicle can output up to 1,515 horsepower. Personally I’d just ask myself do I really need it RIGHT NOW, or can I wait until I receive it for free via a wheelspin. I’d prefer to wait, becuase of the risk factor that something good could come up in the next Forzathon Shop. But that’s just me. Do let us know what you choose though! I just wish we could have like a day in advance to look at the upcoming forzathon shop to decide whether to save or not.
I don’t know why people say that they bought a racing game, and not an auction game when they actually bought both. Yes the Falcon XB is a hard to get car, so I used FP on it, but my worries about a future car are less with so much money.
The auction system is half-baked. I might use it more if there was an option to create shortcuts to favorite searches, or set up an alert system for when certain cars are listed.
But as it is, I have to go into auction search, pick a make and model, then search. And when no results inevitably appear, I get kicked back to the prior menu and have to select auction search again, enter a new make and model, and search again. Over and over and over. Tedious.
So that explains how my Twin Mill sold on the Auction house before the notification that my car had been posted even left the screen. There was less than a second between me setting up the auction and sell notification. If people are actually using scripts to search the auction house, PG should do something about that it completely destroys the whole point of the auction house.
It’s just a dumb video game, and any in-game items will probably roll around again sooner or later, and in another year or two, it won’t matter either way. Go to Hawaii.
Sounds like someone just wanted to brag they are going to Hawaii…
Joking aside, I think your safest bet is to see if the Falcon XB is in the Autoshow. If you can buy it with credits, then don’t buy it now. You’ll eventually get the money for it. If you CAN’T buy it for credits, then probably get it now, or don’t. You will have future opportunities to get it, and the auction house might be a good place to check for it.
I’ve been checking the auctions, the Falcon XB is never there when I check. But I’m going to wait anyway, with the hope that something better is coming in the next season.
