Spending Forzathon Points - What would you do?

TBH,

Virtual cars are not worth putting real life on hold for, I missed out on the M3-GTR and Capri FE, and I’m not too worried about it. All of these cars will come around again, eventually. The Falcon has a higher chance since it is a Wheelspin car.

Oh I know, I would never cancel a trip just to be around for something in the game.

I’m just annoyed at how much time and commitment the game seems to expect from players.

Would like it a lot more if the time exclusivity was just for the chance to win a free copy of a car. And after that initial period, you can go buy it in the autoshow. Not have this ‘oh shoot I had to be out of town, now I have to wait months and hope the car pops up again’ stuff.

Yeah, the whole time gating and vehicle exclusivity thing in Forza is slowly but surely pushing me away from the franchise. Real life is most definitely more important than Forza, and if the game is going to punish me for having a life outside of the game, then honestly the game probably isn’t worth my time or money.

It’s a real shame since there are parts of the game I really do enjoy, but then there’s this unnecessary layer slapped on top that drags down the whole experience.

I hear you.

I only have so much time to play games (at all), and I find my Forza time is mostly spend grinding out seasonal events for the Playlist, and after that I’m trying to do as many Forzathon Live events as I can so I can keep up with the insane inflated prices of the Forzathon shop. When I’m done with all that I really don’t have time/energy to play the normal part of the game. I still haven’t 3-starred all the drift events, and I still haven’t completed the latest Horizon Story. The game seems to want to make me focus on Seasonals and Live Events. If I want to play the rest of the game and ignore Seasonals and Live Events, I miss out on new content. Thanks, game?

I have one other game that’s doing this to me, making me play quite regularly in order to keep up with time limited content.

Trying to keep up with these 2 games constantly means I just don’t have time to work on other games I have in the queue, like Ace Combat 7, Red Dead Redemption 2, Devil May Cry 5, etc.

Sooner or later, I’ll have to make the choice: do I want to spend time on those games, and take a break from Forza, and just be OK with missing the new content? Bleh.

Unfortunately, the whole trend of timed in-game events is getting a bit much:

Fortunately, Horizon 4 is the only game I play at the moment with the really demanding events, and there’s not much else going on right now after hours, so I can usually handle it. But I don’t see it being sustainable long term. And if I get into another game with that kind of demand on my time, I might just have to give up and… I don’t know… read a book or something.

The other game I’m playing right now is Warframe, and it has a somewhat demanding series of daily and weekly activities now. Which you have to keep up on if you want to unlock certain unique cosmetics, upgrades, and generally rare upgrade components.

I can’t imagine juggling 4, 5, or more of these games with constant timed requirements.

I don’t play any other games. Games went downhill after the PS1.

This! Ahhh the days when game discs actually contained the entire game. Games had to be as near perfect as possible prior to release. No selling a broken game and fixing it later, as there were no patch downloads. No DLC, and no nickel and diming the users.

Yes, much better than buying things that have bugs in them. I’m a programmer, graphic artist, musician, and game designer, and I don’t like bugs.

I ended up getting the Falcon in a wheelspin, good car but not worth 700FP. I wish they would stop hiking the price with every season change, most players aren’t swimming in FP and it takes a while to get 700 due to the events being set to every hour. The whole system needs to be adjusted to be honest, they should offer four cars instead of two, lower the FP requirement and if there’s less than four players in an Forzathon event the score requirements should be lowered so those players can actually complete it.

The days when I had a surplus of Forzathon Points are long gone. Nowadays I have very little balance to carry over each time a new season starts. When the cars cost 600-700 FP each, it means I have to grind Live events a ton in order to get the cars.

Even if I do the weekly (200pts) and all the dailies (140pts) and get the bonus (60pts), that’s only 400pts total. So let’s say there’s 2 700pt cars I want to get. 1400pts cost. I have 400 from weekly/dailies/bonus. So I need to grind out 1000 more pts in that week. That’s 16-17 Live Events. So that’s an average of 3-4 events per day. And because the events are once an hour… that means I need to be on the game 3-4 hours per day, every day, average. That’s insane. So you know what I wind up doing? I turn on the Xbox, do a Live event, then turn on my PS4 and watch movies or play other games until the next Live event comes up. Then I switch back to Xbox, do the event, and switch back to PS4 again. Is this really how they would like us to play this game? I’m not gonna sit and play this game 3-4 hours EVERY DAY straight. But I also am afraid to get wrapped up in other race activities between Live Events because I might get caught up in something and miss the event window, and miss the points I need for the super expensive shop cars.

I love Forza games, and want to play a lot. They don’t need to make artificial ways to keep people playing. But with the way things are set up now, I have to play a certain way and on a certain timetable in order to get the new content they release. And it drives me away from playing the regular portion of the game. Weird decision making on the part of the developers.

This structure seems to benefit people who have already 100%ed the rest of the game and are looking for something new to do. But it’s not great for people who are still working on completing the base portion of the game.

Do not spend FP point on wheel spin only exclusives, unless it is something you just have to have. The wheel is rigged to give you all of the exclusives eventually, although it may take a couple thousand spins to get them all. Generally, the wheel spin only cars are not worth much, so there is no point in buying them to sell, unless you are a legendary painter or tuner.

I just wanted to get the Falcon XB for my personal garage. My goal in every Forza is to get one of every car. If possible.

You are justified in buying it, if you have to have it and are not willing to wait it out. I bought the Gold R, when it was offered in the Forzathon shop several weeks ago. I’m not sure it was worth it, though. I won the Crown Victoria on a wheel spin a few days afterwards, which completed the set of wheel spin exclusives for me. But, it occurred to me that of all the exclusives I won on the wheel, I did not get any duplicates through wheel spins until after I had all of them. If they were truly a random distribution, that would be highly unlikely. So it seems the wheel is set up in a way to see to it that you eventually get all of the spin exclusives. Duplicate exclusive did appear on the reels prior to completion of the set, but it never came to a rest on them. It is possible you may break that dynamic by using the “skip” feature, but if you let the wheel come to a rest on the prize it had pre-selected for you, I think you will get them all in time.

It’s not great for people who have 100% on the rest of the game either. Instead of logging in and enjoying the new cars each month like I can in FM7, I use up all my interest jumping through the weekly hoops so that I don’t really get to enjoy the new car before the next set of weekly events rolls around. So much for playing the game my way.

Strange development decisions indeed, and wholly unnecessary given the strength of the core Forza gameplay.

I have one from wheelspin i sell for you if you want its stoped on my garage, and yes the game want you ignore life now most games make this is annoying but Warframe is worst because is grind simulator you need to farm everything but its a really fun game its amazing for a free to play

The scripts help with automating the incredibly tedious auction search menu (that’s the single worst bit of UI design by far in the game), but they’re not a magic bullet for sniping auctions either.

What really matters is the exact timing of when you hit the search button after entering the search parameters, the speed of the system you’re playing the game on, and how fast your internet connection is. Quick reflexes here (press Y, down, A) are just as fast as a script since the game can only process inputs so quickly.

The advantage of the scripts is that you can set them to run all day and keep searching the same auction over and over, so by doing enough searches you have a better chance of getting lucky and getting the desired vehicle.

Fundamentally though, it’s the economic problem of a huge disparity between supply and demand, and the broken AH cartel system that prevents non-legendary players from being able to raise the sell price to reflect the actual value of the vehicle, so those who do have duplicates aren’t usually selling them, greatly reducing the supply. The inability to get the car any other way outside of the time windows means the demand is always ridiculous, so huge numbers of players are always searching for these rare vehicles.

I’ll get a double if it’s something new and just give you one. Message me in XBL.

You can’t gift cars any more and trying to sell it to him through the auction house is pointless.

Well, thanks to everyone who said I should hang on to my points and not spend them on a wheelspin car.

I didn’t have the Hotwheels Mustang, and that is in the Forzathon Shop this season. For 700FP of course. If I had spent points on the Falcon XB, I would have had some trouble saving up enough points to get the Mustang before I leave Saturday morning.

So I bought the Mustang, and I have some points left over to bank for next week. I already have the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the shop, so all good there.

I’ll be coming back midway into the next season, so it’s good to carry over some points. I don’t want to miss whatever might be available that I don’t have next season.

As for the Falcon XB, I’ll just have to pray for it in wheelspins or wait til it’s made available some other way again. LOL. Or maybe the devs will see sense and put the wheelspin cars in the autoshow after a while, for people who have garbage luck with wheelspins.

Stiiiiill can’t get the Subaru WRX STi '04 in wheelspins or auction house either…
