Frequently Asked Questions / Overview

Disclaimer: This FAQ is intended to provide a simple overview to help users understand Season 3 of the Forza Racing Championship. Remember that it is your responsibility to read the https://forzarc.gfinity.net Rules and Handbook.

How is Season 3 structured?
See the Information boxes on the Gfinity site for the schedule of cars and tracks. All cars are forced stock setup for a level playing field.

  • Recreation (Forza Horizon 3) - There are four week-long Rivals events. For each event, the top 25 leaderboard positions in each Region earn gift cards (see Rules for denominations).
  • Elite (Forza Motorsport 6) - Drivers in this series are competing for points over multiple events to qualify for the Porsche Cup Finals where they can win a portion of the $100,000 prize pool. There are two paths to qualify: Rivals events, and multiplayer Racing tournaments. In each Rivals event, the top 1000 leaderboard times earn points; at the end of the season the top 50 Rivals points drivers worldwide will be invited to the Finals. In each weekend multiplayer Race tournament, [May 7 change: 24 drivers each region earn points]; at the end of the season 50 Race points leaders (allotted by Region) will be invited to the Finals. You can compete both ways for your best chance to qualify. Points from Rivals cannot be combined with points from Races. In the event that a player qualifies for the Finals in both sets of events, the player will qualify from Rivals, and the next qualified player from Races will be taken.
The Forza Racing Championship Season 3: The Porsche Cup Finals
The Porsche Cup will be held at the 24H of Le Mans on June 17th-18th. The event will see 108 Drivers (50 From Rivals, 50 From Races, and 8 invited players) race over the duration of the event to be named ForzaRC Racing Champion of Season 3 and stand on the podium at Le Mans. The 50 Rivals racers will be invited based on the standing of the worldwide time trial leader boards on the Gfinity ForzaRC website. The 50 Race Drivers will be invited based on Regional leaderboard standings: 23 from Europe/Middle East/Africa, 15 from North America, 6 from Latin America, 3 from Asia, and 3 from the Oceanic region. The prize pool for Season 3: The Porsche Cup Finals will be $100,000 USD. More information will be revealed closer to the event date.

How do Rivals work? Why isn’t the Leaderboard recording my faster times?
In either game, navigate to the Rivals menu and find the current event. (see Times & Dates tab on the forzarc.gfinity.net site). Drivers have until 11:49pm Pacific time on the event closing date to improve their leaderboard position by setting their fastest clean lap time. Lap times are flagged the driver uses rewind, drives out of the track boundaries or collides with walls. Flagged times with a /!\ symbol are ranked below all clean lap times. You must set a clean lap time for it to update over a flagged time on the in-game leaderboard.

How do weekend Elite Race tournaments work?
[May 7 change: The top 24 players from each Region’s Monday to Wednesday rivals qualify for Sunday tournaments. Groups of 12 racers compete in a semi-final, and the top 6 from each group move to the finals (12 player, 3 races). Heat points from each race determine the cup standing, which earn season Race points.

What about corner cutting, crashing, and assists?

  • In Rivals, “Laps are considered as clean/valid if the game marks them as valid.” (Rules, “On Track Rules”)
  • Marshals will be monitoring Elite cup races for unsportsmanlike behavior and track cutting which may result in disqualification (Elite Rules, 3.1.6). “2 wheels have to remain in between the white (sometimes yellow) lines defining the track. Curbs are NOT part of the track, so 2 wheels have to be on the tarmac at every time. This does not apply to situations in which it happens occasionally but as soon as this is your racing line or you get an advantage with doing it, it can be penalized.” (Elite Rules 3.1.5, Recreation Rules 2.1.2)
  • "The other big change for the Elite Series is the introduction of assists limitations. As we evolve the Elite Series, it’s important that we raise the skill bar for our most competitive players. With that in mind, for both Rivals and Race events in Season 3, we will be forcing assisted line to “off”. This limitation will be enforced automatically by Forza Motorsport 6 in Elite Series Rivals events, and enforced by race hosts during the Race events."Week in Review 4/28, (Elite Rules 1.5)
Who’s eligible for Season 3 participation and prizes?
Players must be age 16+ and registered in their Region of residence. See the Handbook (“Driver Eligibility” and “Payment to Drivers”) for details.

How do I register for a Region and events?
Registration is required to be eligible for prizes and participation in Elite multiplayer cups.

  • Go to https://forzarc.gfinity.net and create/sign in an account, link your gamertag, and activate your Gfinity account from the link in your email.
  • For Elite Multiplayer (Forza Motorsport 6), click the Races tab, select your Region (EMEA = Europe/Middle East/Africa, NA = North America, LATM = Latin America, Oceanic, or Asia), and then select Register for one or more of the weekend Cups.
How do I reset the password for my account if I can’t login?
  • Passwords are case sensitive so retry with capitalization if you believe you set up a password.
  • If you initiated the profile Sign Up process, you should have received an email titled “Welcome to Gfinity - Activate Your Account Now!” from support@gfinity.net with a link to activate your account.
  • On the www.gfinity.net/support site cick LOGIN and then Forgot Password? and enter the email(s) you believe you used.
  • “If you are still unable to access your account, please email ‘support@gfinity.net’ detailing the issue and including your username and email address that you used to register.”
What is the deadline to register?
  1. Recreation - You only need to register once to be eligible for all the challenges. Challenge periods end May 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, and since these are competitive leaderboard events, competing in each period will give you a chance to earn a prize each week. (see Information)
  2. Elite Rivals - You only need to register once, but since points are cumulative over all Rivals events, you stand the best chance of qualifying for the Finals by participating in all of them. The last event closes May 28th.
  3. Elite Races - You must register for each of the Multiplayer Cup Race days in you intend to compete in, by the designated time for your Region (British Summer Time) on the day of the races, May (7th cancelled), 14th, 21st, and 28th. The most competitive players will be racing all weekends for the points to qualify for the Final.

Can I earn prizes in both Recreation (Forza Horizon 3) and Elite (Forza Motorsport 6)?
Yes, but drivers who participate in the Elite Series and are in the top 100 within the race leaderboard for their region, or the top 100 global rivals leaderboards are not eligible for Recreation Series prizes. (see Rules).

Are there in-game gift car awards for participation?
Only gift certificates are listed for the Recreation series, and Elite players are competing for an invite to the Porsche Cup prize pool competition.

What is the prize structure for the Elite Porsche Cup?
Full details are TBA. The 24H of Le Mans announcement on May 18 states that “Alongside standing on the Le Mans podium to accept their trophy, the winners from the Forza Racing Championship Season 3 will also take home some serious cash. Players will be competing for a total cash prize pool of $100,000 with first place earning $20,000, second place earning $15,000, and third place taking home $10,000.” https://forzarc.gfinity.net/elite/rules was updated May 19 with note that “All invited drivers will receive a ticket to the 24h of Le Mans, accomodations, and meals on-site (from Friday, June 16th through Monday morning, June 19th)” and the ForzaRC will also pay travel for the top 36 drivers (20 from Rivals, 16 from Races: 8 EMEA, 4 NA, 2 LATAM, 1 Asia, 1 Oceana). Follow www.twitter.com/ForzaRC and refer to the https://forzarc.gfinity.net/elite site for changes, as well as News - Forza for announcements during the season.

When will I receive my prizes?
“Event gift certificates will be paid within 30 days of Gfinity PLC receiving the prize claim form (that will be distributed post event) from the prize recipient.” (Handbook). Based on the need to set aside the top 100 Elite players, Recreation players might have to wait until June for prizes from Weeks 1, 2, and 3.

I don’t own a console, can I participate on the Windows 10 version of Forza Horizon 3?
Players can compete on either Xbox One or on PC. (Handbook: “Hardware”)

Do I need a wheel controller?
The Hardware rules (Handbook 3.3) do not list controller requirements, so you can use a pad or wheel/pedal. The competitors in the New York Invitational Championship were all using pad controllers.

Do I need Xbox Live Gold membership?
Xbox Live Gold is listed as a requirement. (Handbook: “Hardware”)

Do I need to own DLC to participate?
Recreation players do not need DLC. Elite players must own the Porsche Expansion Pack (not included with any edition of Forza Motorsport 6).

The Recreation series remains unchanged. The top 25 leaderboard times each week win a gift certificate.

The Elite series has been modified. The basic format is unchanged: points for each event in May lead to qualification for the Porsche Cup. 50 worldwide Rivals players and 50 Race players (allotted by Region) will be invited to the Porsche Cup competition, which has a $100,000 prize pool.

Rivals now goes to one event per week from Thursday to Saturday. Week 1’s Rivals points still stand.

May 7th races were cancelled. Racing now uses a separate rivals event from Monday to Wednesday to qualify for the following Sunday multiplayer races. The top 24 players from each Region enter their Sunday tournament: Groups of 12 racers compete in a semi-final, and the top 6 from each group move to the finals (12 player, 3 races).
