Forza has a problem. . People use custom tunes, win with them and then don’t bother to take a few moments to vote them up. . Why is this a problem. . Without that vote we get 500 credits but potentially spend millions making them for you.
We can spend anywhere from an hour to more making sure you win your race. I don’t think spending a couple seconds of inconvenience to reward me is too much to ask.
I do custom tunes for people from in game messages or messages on reddit . We get in party chat and I fine tune a car for them. That means I buy the car. AND all the parts which could mean a million credits! Then we could be on a track for 3 hours trying to shave half a second off a 30 lap race and even they don’t hit the rating. My reward if they don’t hit the like button? 500…yes 500 credits
It not cool. If you use a tune and you like it then rate it. Sure I could stop but I enjoy it and I enjoy the sheer excitement in a voice when they take a corner 30mph faster than they could before. I… We don’t ask much?
For me the credits don’t matter, like they didn’t on FM4 or FM3. I’m rich enough, it’s a shame there’s no Auction House or I’d run some HLCs like we all used to in the day.
The best ‘profit’ I get is positive feedback, when people tell me of any success they have, that’s why I do it! My drivatar has earned me more money than my tunes. I only look at the stats to see if anyone’s been downloading/using them and to see what I’ve done that may be popular. So as to not change a good recipe.
Hell, most of my best tunes are shared and open sourced on here! I’m not only ‘raking’ nothing, people can easily copy it and flog it as their own. But I don’t mind as long as people don’t take the mickey.
Genius man genius. You said what I wanted to actually say. . The credits I can obviously earn but seeing that little vote is like a “hey buddy nice job”
Blame T10, they destroyed the community features!
Tuning is what I mainly do, so I can relate.
Money or no money, the system is full of rubbish
Even paints, people sharing paints which are just ONE colour, and yet they do better than some of the amazing paints I’ve seen!
RIDICULOUS
Too bad that some of the painters complained which I think is why we got to this stage, but hey ho…
It’s not going to change. Taken years to get some of the features we wanted such as the tracks and cars e.g. Brands Hatch and BTCC cars.
I got 130 million cr. just from playing the game and Forza Rewards. Usage cr. are my smallest source of income. Almost 20k views on my open source thread is reward enough.
d0x360…if someone using your tune and dont like it, for what reason should there be a like? i’m not saying your tune is bad, but the thing is though, everybody has a different drivestyle, so it fits or it fits not to it.
No of Course not but basing how well my tunes do on track I don’t see many disliking them. . That said I’ve gotten tweets and messages saying how awesome my fm6 car x tune is but not once… Not Once has one gotten an upvote.
Hell one day I spent hours in chat tuning for a guy he was in absolute love and went on on to win a major race and even he didn’t vote for it. . Yes he said ty on reddit and I appreciate that a ton BUT I want more people to see them. I want someone to see a tune with my name and know its good but the current system doesn’t allow that. . It didn’t used to be this way
I don’t care about credits, I have plenty. I’m always happy to help other players tune as well and give advice, but what I hate is people who download your tune and steal your build then repost it and call it there own. At Least they can’t take my numbers though.
And you know this how? I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but there is absolutely no way you can tell. It’s not impossible for numerous people to come up with the same build. Most of the better tuners all use the same approach.
On topic, I do try to like tunes that I think are good. Admittedly though, I sometimes forget. I have some tunes out there myself. I’m not a great tuner by any means, but when I have one I think is decent I share it. I don’t do it for the credits either, as they are sooo easy to earn anyways. I appreciate it when I get a like, but like someone else said, seeing them being used brings more satisfaction. You know it’s a decent tune if people are using it. I do have a couple tunes that have done fairly well in that regard.
I don’t spend the amount of $ on building car setups because I just build what I buy & have started sharing every setup/ tune I’ve made…plus I get plenty of $ from racing. I WOULD HOWEVER like to see the “LIKES” on the setups/ tunes & also my shared designs just to see if folks actually like them. What I currently utilize as my gauge of folks reactions to my stuff is the number of “USES” each one has.
I think you’re wrong. If you want people to say they like your tune start a thread on here like some of the other tuners where people can comment what they like and what they don’t. And if money is a problem do your tuning in rivals sure it’s a pain but for fine tuning it’s ok and you will pay the car off long before its tuned.
Also if your tune is good it will get lots of uses
Every time I play I use a racerboy or a PRKid tune and those uses are way more money than a like
i am not by any means the best tuner on here and don’t have problem with the way credits are given for tune usage as I have plenty of credits. But why have they made it so time consuming to find out how many likes and uses your separate tunes have. I can’t remember all of the cars I’ve tuned! It’s so long winded to get the info up I don’t think I’ll be bothering to share for much longer
This is same issue with the paint shares. What I typically see is for 10 DL I get about 1~2 likes and about 10~50 uses. # of likes come rarely. I can see which ones they like and not like but the vote is NOT based on the quality of paint but rather more on the car’s popularity. For eg. new Honda Civic (WTCC paint C&P on the passenger car) gets a lot of usage and have a lot of likes compared to the old Civic (customized for this car).
Instead of prompting people to Like, maybe the ratio of number of uses to the DL can be an indicator instead? For eg. ratio of 1 = 1 like, ratio of 2 = 2 likes, etc. So if everyone who have DL the tune uses it at least 5 times then you get 5 likes automatically.
Then again, is it really that important to get the “Likes”? People actually using them are what actually matters to our community. To me, number of USES is the TRUE indicator of “Like”, not the number of votes.
It’s just as easy to work out a build from a replay as it is to take a build from a downloadable tune.
As for the “likes”, I have a set-up shared that has over 1k downloads, 1k uses but only has 9 “likes”. I see the same set-up being used in lobbies and on the Rivals boards. Do I care that only 9 people have clicked the “like” button? No. The uses are all the feedback I need.
T10 have made it stupidly easy to earn credits and I laugh as I type the word “earn”, so the monetary return on shared set-ups means very little to me.
If your tune has been repeatedly downloaded but with very few uses, you are still providing the community with a build that they can tune to their liking. If that upsets you, don’t share and make sure you hide all you replays.
I prefer not to think too much and would rather just enjoy the game.
Massive Kudos to anyone who shares a tune or paint. Your time and effort go a long way to making the game a lot more enjoyable for someone in the Forza community.
