Let me clearify what I mean. When i say drivetrain swap im mainly talking about AWD swaping, it should be removed; simplely put. But I can agree with RWD swaping but only for AWD. Its ridiculous when you see an AWD car that were originally RWD or FWD.
Now for the engine swaps. I hate engine swaps completley. Its so stupid when your doing any form of racing and theres a V12 in a car that shouldn’t. Engine swaps should only be manufacturer bases. For example: A Dodge Charger. Dodge makes alot of engines but only 4-10 cylinders. The only engines that should be swappable is a 4, 6, 8, or 10 cylinder and they should sound and performe accordingly.
I feel removing this stuff (crap) would greatly improve the game and make it more enjoyable as well as making it more diverse. It would definetly make the game more fun and challenging. It shouldn’t be as easy as putting a v12 in a prius and throwing AWD on it. Thats not fun. Anyone agree?
I think that totally removing drivetrain swaps from the game is too much, but I definitely agree with the sentiment and would like to see a lot more restrictions placed on swaps. Maybe have it so that doing certain drivetrain/engine swaps flags a car as being in an unlimited modification class and becomes ineligible for most events. Players could still use the swapped cars for free roam and some PR stunts and custom races/event lab/playground games stuff, but for the most part it would hopefully encourage players not just AWD swap everything.
In real life, you can do anything to a car. asking to have no modifications for drivetrain or a engine swap is the same thing as asking to remove the ability to paint and or personalize body kits for cars.
You called me out im calling you out. Drive-tran swaps are not easy at all look up some info. To convert a FWD to RWD you’d have to create a new tunnel for the transmission ( tear apart the interior to create a new tunnle.) Youd have to build after market linkages and possibly build your own transmison. Youd have to figure out how to mount the engine becuase youd also need to turn the engine. If its a low profile car youll have to jack it up (raise suspension) becuase youll have a transmisson draging on the ground. It would cost not a couple grand but id say 10s of thousands of dollars to convert. And RWD to AWD although my be easier but you still have alot of time and money to make it happen. Dont call people stupid unless you have your info in line. Drive-tran swap dont happen as often as your little mind might think.
I love the idea of engine swapping because that is something that people in the car industry do a LOT, especially to gain an edge, stand out, or to choose a smaller class and put a bigger engine in it.
I agree with swaps restrictions, especially for horizon open. It is very uncommon to AWD swap cars IRL (100s to 1000s of hours of labor and custom machined parts $$$). Naming 1-3 people who have done it doesn’t make it the norm.
And it’s still legitimate to what I said before. Clearly you need to reassess your argument before calling people stupid by deflecting their own incompetence. I never called anyone stupid here, I only stated the obvious. You said it yourself “Drive-tran swap dont happen as often” but it still happens, case and point.
Also, if you forgotten what I said then look again “In real life, you can do anything to a car. asking to have no modifications for drivetrain or a engine swap is the same thing as asking to remove the ability to paint and or personalize body kits for cars.” nothing about insults here. You said “as often as your little mind might think.”, your the only one slinging insults here. How about you touch grass and live a little before coming onto a website for a video game and insulting people about a video game.
I do agree though to restrict swapped drivetrain in PvP bet it wouldn’t make sense to remove it entirely from the game.
Drivetrain Swaps and engine swaps are what makes this franchise the way it is it lets people build their dream versions of cars if they removed it it would not be Forza at all
I understand your complaint, but removing the functionality or freedom is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. In real life, drivetrain swaps arent done that often because its expensive and requires a lot of effort. This is a game, thus it removes the effort, and the games economy is a bit of a mess so it removes the sting of it being expensive. Next time you modify a car, take note as to how much it costs. you can spend 100k+ on a full drivetrain swap and build, this is probably quite realistic for builds of that extent.
Another way they could deal with this problem is to have “no driveline/engine swaps” on the seasonal challenges. so every so often, your trial doesnt allow anything but the stock engine.
Heres another counter argument. Something more common than a lot of the engine swaps in the game - twin engined cars. heres an oldsmobile toronado drag car from back in the day that used another toronado engine and fwd driveline put in the back to make an AWD car. claimed to have over 2,000hp, but im not sure if that is from both engines combined, or the engines seperately:
or the infamous and numerous twin engined VW Golfs:
for some of those “silly” engine swaps how about a Viper V10 powered S2000, a toyota Century V12 MX-5, or aTwin-Supercharged Jaguar V12 swapped Triumph Spitfire:
These engine swaps are real, they exist, and theyre road legal. If anything, we should be freeing up some of the engines and adding them to more cars that should get them. The mk4 toyota supra does not get the Celica GT4/MR2 inline 4 even though that was the engine used in the famous TOMs Racing Supra instead of the 2JZ inline 6:
absolutely true. as a video game the point of it is escapism and experiencing a world other than our own, and in this one we dont have to worry about exerting effort or skipping meals to cover the cost of upgrading a dream garage of cars.
from performance mods like this thread is about to visual mods like the Saleen S281 kit or rocket bunny kit, people can use these to make their dream cars without needing to write in to the company and ask them to add the car themselves. Sure that Viper V10 swap exists and I would love to drive it, but theres no reason to ask the company to get that guys car and add it, I can just go in game and make it myself.
compare that to games that dont allow swaps, and sure the cars can be different colours, but the car is restricted to what it is. no variation in speed, no variation in potential.
