Engine Swaps - Fewer Restrictions, More Real World Customizations

One of my favorite things about the automotive YouTube rabbit hole I’ve found myself in for the last couple of years is the potential for putting nearly any engine into any chassis. V8 in a Tesla Model S, Tesla drive-train in an old minivan, Rotary swaps in…everything!

I understand with Forza that licensing plays a big part in what gets added and how much freedom players have to customize certain brands, but these are small things that should be seen as community focused content updates.

For instance, I finally got an HDT VK Commodore Group A today only to discover that it has zero RB engine swaps despite it being an Australian car where RB swaps are incredibly common. (The VK didn’t have RB’s available from factory, but the VL did which was the successor model making RB swaps in the VK make even more sense.

Back to Rotary swaps. Rotaries for everything please. 2 rotors, 3 rotors, 4 rotors, more! Give them a turbo and hear them…scream! Please. Rob Dahm is building a 12 rotor engine. Mad Mike rotary swaps basically anything he wants. Mike Lake is building a Lamborghini kit car for drifting…with a turbo rotary!

Engine swaps can, in my opinion, be expanded greatly in a way that creates more realism while providing larger numbers of customization options without hindering game play or fairness.

I know I’ve suggested more engine swaps instead of the same old stuff I mean cmon it’s a game let us have any car any engine. Get tired of the same old swaps that don’t even sound good. Miss the day of having a game shark. Just make it how I want it…

Yes please, or at least swaps that actually reflect what you’d get from a 30 second look at the car’s real community. The SW20 MR2 is in the spotlight this week and it’s got four swap options, all of which are nonsense and two of which don’t physically fit in the car (neither does AWD, but that’s a different complaint). Meanwhile, there are multiple shops in the US turning out 2GR-FE (Lotus Evora, Exige V6) swaps like production lines and when one shows up to a meet 50/50 it’s got a K motor in it. We’re doing better than FH4 where you could put an RB in it (lol) but it’s not there yet.

I would like if we had the option to detune some of the hypercars using engine swaps as many of the RWD hypercars are very tail happy and hate corners. Having, say the Racing 7.2L V8 or Racing V12 as engine swap options would be a far more reliable way to reduce wheelspin in hypercars and make them more corner friendly than Forza aero and AWD swapping.
