Can we take a step back to FM3 and FM1 large array of engine swaps. I myself am a jdm lover from the caribbean and since forza is where dreams are driven my dreams include cars from japan with swapped motors. Example S13,S14, S15 silvias should have sr20det, rb20det, rb25det & rb26dett swaps. Honda’s used to allow b16b, b18c and k20’s (B20 is a nice hybrid as well). The subaru front I would especially love to be given the option of dropping a (ej25, ez36) into my jdm rhd 06 hawkeye and not some generic unrealistic V10. I’ve said all this to say guys just put the actually doable loved swaps back in the game please… Yes am gonna get 6 regardless because I expect better graphics and even more realism and driving feedback but fixing the swaps would stop me from using my xbox360.
Well, the engine swaps are “real” for example the 5.2L V10 is a Gallardo motor and the 2.6L I6 is the RB26 #RBisGod. But I DEFINITLEY agree with you! I want them to have names, realistic power and more diverse swaps. Like a 2JZ Fox body Or a RB26 Starion #Bringbackthestarion They said this will be Forza’s tenth anniversary so they better get it together.
You give them names they will go back to engine swaps only being available within each car manufacturer eg Nissan can only receive a Nissan engine swap, Toyota will only get Toyota engine swaps etc.
It will also then cost the developers more money because they’ll have to license each of the “named” engines whereas an unnamed, non branded, generic engine costs them nothing as far as licensing.
Perhaps they could make more engines that mimic those of the real world and then allow for swapping them into more cars but the more they can do without having to spend extra money on licensing the better. This gives them a little more money to hopefully spend on other things that the community wants.
I wouldn’t mind if engine swaps disappeared altogether and we were left with the standard engine tuning options. This coupled with more restricted lobbys in terms of car spec would definitely make racing closer and make for a more believable grid. The problem here is that you either have a game that lets you customise cars or a game that mirrors motorsport. Trying to do both tends to spread the game a little too thinly so neither is accomplished as well as it could be.
Forza Motorsport is trying to be the “automotive sandbox” (Dan’s words) of car / racing games, so the goal is to be both a car customizing game and a motorsport game. What that means is, Turn 10 Studios employees have job security because there are still a good many real-world features not yet put into the title. It also means we must be patient with the franchise while they add, remove, and test certain features.
100% agree with this! Why would I want to get beat by a way unfair advantage and it’s stupid. A Mazda rx3 in c class for example on top of the leaderboards with a swapped engine. The heavy cars with power like a Dodge Charger should be and they feel wasted. Just get a really light car and put a very powerful engine in it… so everyone buys a light car and puts a big engine swap on the leaderboards. Makes the game way more unfair and not diverse in racing as it should be :(…
Actually the engineswaps give the game more diversity at the cost of taking some of the character of the car. Without begins and cars like the '97 and s2000 would destroy C class and probably make 200 cars useless.
Cutting specific engine names/codes prevents Turn 10 from running into costly licensing and/or branding conflicts. That said, I do believe lists have been assembled by the community to describe which upgrade mimics a particular engine based on the specs provided. Essentially, the engine swaps are no more generic than they were back in the early Forza Motorsport days.
I agree it would be great to go back to the old engine swap method. It was good to know that a car would have an engine from the correct manufacturer. it’s more realistic. Why would I want to put a modern lambo engine in a classic alfa bmw merc etc although it’s fun it’s not realistic
I do miss having engine codes and the game including the sources of the engine, but if having generic motors means we can have cross-manufacturer swaps then I’m ALL for it.
I already like the engine swaps in forza 5 but I’m hoping that forza 5 gets more cars and possibly with more cars, comes more engine swaps for us but as far as forza 5 goes I don’t think it’s too bad, though if there’s one thing I would like the engine to have are the options for restrictor plates and the option to control how much hp and torque you can limit the engine to producing.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way it works in FM5, However it would be good to have more swap options. E.g. Skyline R34 has a V8 swap, how about having a few different V8 engine swaps to choose from and even the 2JZ swap (The GT86 in horizon 2 has the 2JZ swap but doesn’t in FM5).
They don’t need to brand the engines in game, simply post a list on the forum of what the engines are and the car enthusiasts amongst the community will know what the engines are by the stats anyway
I agree that the current system (no names) works great. As you said they just need more options for all cars. If they have to start putting real life name on each motor then T10 will have to pay for it and we’ll end up on the short end of the stick.
