Engine Swaps

Suggestions and thoughts on current Engine Swaps and potential Engine Swaps in the possible future for Forza Motorsport (2023).

I recently unlocked the Engine Swap option for the 2020 Supra, and though I see some oddball swaps like a 6.5L V12 (possibly Aventador SVJ engine), 2.6L R4 (which appears to be a 4 Rotor), and a 5.2L V10 (Audi R8 engine I assume), there ISN’T a 2JZ swap for it (being the most common real-world swap for this car). Even a VR38TT from the GTR would be a welcome swap, but why are there such oddball swaps when the common (or more reasonable/rational) swaps are no where to be found?

Turn10, please reconsider some of the Engine Swap choices and add more realistic (rational) swaps. Give us the ability to broaden our options with engine swaps to lesser (or more rational) engines that aren’t as wild as slapping a V12 in a car.

It would be nice to have more of a variation of engine swaps from cars that already exist in-game, even if it lowers the cars’ PI and/or has lower power/torque output than the stock engine native to the car. (I.E. swapping a 2JZ into a 2020 Supra).

Please my community brethren, share your thoughts!

Strong Agree with being able to swap in engines which have a lower PI. For example being able to swap a 2 Rotor into any car would be excellent (Upon trying different cars there is in fact a 2 Rotor). Being able to swap an “LS1” into a miata so that it’s still in a lower PI category.

That said I am glad to see more options than the previous games so it’s a good start but needs some further improvements. And I also think that including the engine name and possibly car it has been donated from, be visible somewhere upon selecting the modification, would be awesome too. Maybe “licensing issues” prevent that?

Not too sure about licensing being the issue, but there are workarounds, similar to how they’re already doing things. Not referencing what engine comes from what car might broaden their spectrum on what engine can go into what car. I’m not too sure about this though, given GT7 has engine codes so you can easily tell what engine comes from what car. Also, the variation of swaps are pretty diverse as well (although not broad), given you can put a 13B into a Suzuki Cappuccino (considerably lighter than a Miata), which is a pretty wild swap if you ask me.

I would love to see a lot of Manufacture-specific swaps without a doubt, even swaps like taking a 454 from a '70 Chevelle SS (or El Camino SS) and putting it into a '69 Camaro. Just some good old fashioned real-world swaps.
Maybe even doing something backwards and dropping a 427 from a mid-60’s Corvette into a Ford Mustang Boss 302. Not only will it diversify builds, but it will make things personal, and even utilize the sound files from so many engines to be used in some pretty interesting scenarios.

This could be Turn10’s chance to make a mark for themselves, but we will see if they listen to the community and add these would-be acceptable suggestions into the game in the near future.

I agree. I think each brand should have interchangeable engine swaps. More realistic swaps would be welcomed too. But I’d be happy with a few new engine options instead of the same 3 over and over and over again in every Forza.

I strongly agree with this, oddballs are welcome (Basically because it’s a game so anything can happen), but I think some “Thematic” swaps should be considered for the game.

For example, Ferraris having more Ferrari swaps, I unlocked the Swap feature in my F50, and the only Ferrari swap is (If I’m correct), the 4.5L V8 from a 458 Italia, meanwhile the others are from Nissan and Lamborghini, the only V12 I can put on the F50 is an Aventador’s, when I could install, maybe, the V12 from the F50 GT or the Enzo…

I also unlocked the feature on the latest addition, the V12 Vantage S, and the only swaps are V8s and a V10… It kinda bothers me, because it’s a V12 Vantage, not a V8, nor a V10 Vantage, on top of that, I think V12s sound exquisite in this game, yet I can’t install any on said car.

I hope the Devs consider this.

I agree whole heartedly. Bring back the feel of FM4. It might seem insignificant, but as a car person, I enjoy knowing I’m swapping an sr20 or RB26 into my Datsun, not just a random 4 or 6 cylinder. I dont know why they dumbed the game down after FM4. Bring back actual swaps and like others said, make more and more realistic swaps. No FWD v12 swaps, Cmon…

All of that. More engines! Let me bring a S-Class Ferrari down to D-Class.

Can we get more factory options for engine swaps for all cars?
Picture as reference we need more factory options for all cars… you have the votes infront of you. I’d have a car each way… especially if they all had their own sound. And sounded good.

I seriously wish when you engine swap it would actually change the sound on each car like in real life and even gt7 does that … but you pretty much just make every car sound the same or I wish they would add more engine swap options and add in new ones

Yeah I’d like to be able to drop in a 440 magnum rather than a 426 hemi.. or take a 428 or a 455 Pontiac block and put it into a 1969 GTO Judge.. or even have some small blocks in the game for the manufacturers like a 340/360 small block dodge, 351 Cleveland, 327 Chevy.. small blocks are lighter and RPM better in corners which makes a muscle car in the circuit more competitive. It’s not easy using a big block muscle car and trying to beat the leaderboard cars or the JDM/Euros in general.. straight aways don’t make you win on a circuit track haha
