Its no secret that the engine swaps are pretty… not good in later Forza games. I just wanted to post this to state my opinions and hear others opinions on this subject.
Engine swaps should fall into these 3 categories to make it into the final game
-if the engine swap is common for that specific car in real life (RB swapped Silvia)
-if the engine is available as a crate engine (Ford coyote)
-if the engine swap is common for many cars in real life (Chevy LS)
If T10 are desperate for an overpowered engine swap that can do anything, i would recommend the 2jz or the LS engine rather than the Lamborghini V12, I mean they can be upgraded to insane power numbers, just that it doesn’t make sense to take the engine out of a Lambo and fit it into anything, the other engine swaps I mentioned earlier are just FAR more realistic.
For bespoke hypercars, just remove engine swaps completely because like I said, it makes 0 sense.
Discussions are always nice, so leave your thoughts below.
Absolutely love the idea of dropping a weaker motor in a car to lower the class. The thing I miss the most about the swaps, they used to tell us which cars they actually came from but that stopped in FM2. Like a 2.4L I4 from TSX or 7.0 V8 from GT40. Those little details would go a very long way and all they’d have to do is make the font a tiny bit smaller to fit it all on the same line.
it would be a good system to have, and it could even be used for some strange tunes someone would wanna make (KA24 swapped S15) or even to make a car seem like a lower trim (swapping a hellcat with a 392 V8 or V6)
I would like to add “Bump the stock engines capabilities” as a suggestion. There are far too many cars in game that can barely make it to S1 class HP with the stock engine. They just added a 68 Firebird into Horizon that can barely make it past 700 hp. IRL Pontiac 400’s have made well over that without forced induction, let alone with a supercharger or twin turbos.
I 100% agree. I miss the days of having some manufacturer’s engine options like Dodge for instance, the 383, 426 and the 440. Weren’t all those in at least one of the Motorsport games?
Having better capabilities for the stock engines would be great too, as one of you brought up. There have been many changes in crate engines in the decade since there’s been any changes in the upgrades and tuning. I’d love to see several different crate engines available, stuff that makes sense for the car. For muscle or drag cars have the LSs, Coyotes, 502s, 572s, heck throw in a 632! While I’m dreaming, have a Proline Hemi, lol.
There is alot they could do, just depends on whether or not there are any ACTUAL car people versus gamers making a car game. We’ll see, I guess.
Engine swaps are cool and all but I honestly think the game in general atleast from a competitive point of view would be best to be removed from competitive lobbies atleast.
To me it seems it makes it easier to break the p.i. system allowing some cars to have redicolous amount of power for the class.
Tho this could be more of a p.i. issue then engine swap issue. But I just think it makes it easier to balance the game. Maybe just have engine swaps available for free play or drifting etc…
I know it’s not a popular opinion but it’s an opinion. Lol.
Also It’s kinda annoying hearing the same engine in different cars.
