In Forza Horizon 3, all of a user’s original content could be accessed from a centralised Storefront. This in turn made it easier to find Designs, Vinyl Groups, Tunes and Photos from your favorite creators, all in the same place.
This was a big improvement over the system seen in Forza Motorsport 6.
At the moment, we currently have no confirmation from Turn 10 on whether or not this feature will be implemented in Forza Motorsport 7.
We might learn something soon, but for now it’s a little up in the air.
On a related note, one thing that did get confirmed was the porting of user-created Designs and Vinyl Groups from previous games.
Painters will be able to import their content from Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horizon 3, and although they weren’t explicitly mentioned in comments by Turn 10, one can assume that Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Horizon 2 content can be imported as well.
This is obviously good news for the painting community, as the dozens/hundreds of hours of work done creating original content in those games can be carried over.
I felt like posting this thread so that answers to these questions could be easily found (as not everyone here uses Twitter or activaly follows messages posted by Turn 10 staff on social media). If anything changes regarding Storefronts I’m sure it’ll get mentioned/copied in here too.
Well … even if they don’t explicitly include FM5 and FH2 (which I fully believe they will) … you could still use FM6 and FH3 as a ‘transfer’ game to move vinyls and designs from FM5 and FH2 to FM7. I thought I heard Dan Greenawalt confirm that the Storefront was coming to FM7. Not 100% sure though. It was during an answer to a question about vinyl and design transfers. He definitely did confirm that the Auction House from FH3 will be in FM7.
And more importantly, wiil my vinyls be a horrible blurry mess once attached to the car like they have been in previous forzas? I do F1 designs with meticulous detail, but often its a waste of time and might as well have made it with just 3 or 4 layers
My thoughts on this … your vinyls in FM7 on the One or OneS will look the same as they do now in FH3 or FM6. However, the same vinyls transferred over to FM7 and being seen/used on the OneX will benefit from 4K textures instead of the 2K textures we see in the current games. I believe we will definitely see improvements in our vinyls and designs because they’ll be using higher quality and higher resolution assets (on the OneX).
I’m hoping the resolution for designs is improved for FM7 as well. It was kinda meh in FM6 but it was utterly terrible in Horizon 3. I used to do F1 paints myself but gave up after some of the modern cars looked awful with the decals, especially in cockpit or hood view. I still do designs as I love the editor itself but the resolution will be a massive thing for me.
On a technical note, all player liveries have to be downloaded by all other players prior to each race. I don’t know how large a download 23 4K liveries would be but it won’t be small. Expect lower res to avoid lobby issues.
I am sure we will see the return of the storefront in Forza Motorsports 7. By the looks of things there working hard to bring things back not take away this time around. If they have been listening to the community like they say they have i am sure we have nothing to worry about.
I really would like to add to a downloaded livery. For sure keep it locked in the same way it would be if I use a downloaded vinyl group, but let me add my gamer tag and racing number. Surely it can’t be that hard to implement.
I understand the desire to personalize a paint that you have downloaded … but as an artist who’s spent days and days working on a paint right down to the smallest detail, I don’t want everyone who downloads it to be able to edit or cover up the work that I’ve done and have something that I created show up in the Forza world that is not as I intended it to look.
100% agree. As a designer myself sometimes you spend weeks on a specific paint and sometimes even do some research before I start a paint. If somebody was able to edit every paint I’ve done I would feel quite disheartened especially with all the effort it takes to do. Saying that an option to do collaboration paints would be fantastic. Usually I spend around a week per design, even if they are very simple, I like to make sure it looks perfect in every way I can. I also wouldnt like my paint to not look how I intended it to as it takes away from the expression put in to the paint.
I agree to a certain extent. I run the #19 on my cars. What is wrong with trying to get my number on a paint job that already has a number, but not my number
Make make certain parts/groups unlockable? If just the number sticker group is unlocked, then you should be able to change the number without affecting the rest of the livery. Probably too complicated, considering the glacial pace at which the paint shop gets improved in this series. Maybe we’ll see it in FM56.
Alternatively, you could always contact the painter/designer by posting in their forum thread or on XBL with a polite request for a personalised version which you could obtain via the Auction House. Doesn’t hurt to ask, worst case scenario is they refuse. Admittedly it requires some degree of interaction instead of having everything handed to you on a plate but surely the reward has got to be worth the small amount of effort it takes to type a text??
