personally being a fan of JDM street cars or just nice fast cars overall i’d have to say hell no.
way to many SUV’s and cars seemingly included purely for the bashers, granted i’m picky with what i like but even in horizon 3 there was always atleast 1 car in each dlc that caught my attention where now… i do believe not a single pack had a car in it i actually wanted to use. i’d have been off way cheaper just picking up the lotus elise GT1 and leaving the rest.
but to hint at what might be another issue overal for me ,i had ~120 cars in my horizon 3 garage, ~35 were toyota’s…
It was for me. The only car I probably wouldn’t have bought separately and just left sitting in the free cars section is the Chiron, but since T10 decided to auto add them to the garage starting with this pack its stuck there. The others I have at least given a chance, honestly I drove the Chiron too, but not for nearly as long.
I’m a fan of the majority of these packs and got a great deal of value out of the car pass. It’s one of those things that you take a risk on and hope for the best. I’m not sure I’ve ever been truly disappointed with it to the point of not purchasing it or another Forza title again.
I have purchased collectors and ultimate versions since F4 with exception of F5 which I skipped over due to club boards being removed. And I have no problem with a wide assortment of cars included. But what I do wish is that Forza MOTORSPORTS would include cross rally, dirt tracks etc to validate some of the cars presented to us.
You would think a MOTORSPORT racing game with off road cars/trucks would have tracks that accommodated these, and include dirt bikes etc also… That would be a complete racing game IMO. I know some will point out there are racing games for that already…but are they under one title that includes track race craft, bikes off road trucks , buggies on and on?
Keep in mind the variety of cars is not so much an issue for collectors. And truthfully, some younger drivers may never see some of the vintage cars otherwise. I’m old as the hills and haven’t seen some of these cars before. So that part I enjoy in that it creates a history of advancements and design over the years for us to experience in simulation. How often does one get to play around with cars from all over the globe that some have never heard of? This game could include only race cars from recent years…but would that satisfy the crowd? Probably not. Would anything satisfy everyone in the crowd… of coarse not. Everyone has favorites, why else would companies design, change up and redefine the same four wheeled buggies over the years lol.
All in all, it’s a great game. There have been many positive changes over the versions as well as disappointments. Look back at older versions and compare to today. A lot of good things have developed and still evolving… Apologies for going off topic a bit, but I have wanted voice my thoughts for some time now.
On topic, I do enjoy 90% of cars offered in some way or another. But for racing on road tracks, I’ll stick with cars designed for racing…
I will say this again. The car pass was not worth to buy it and this is the second and last time I bought the ultimate version. Way too many pointless cars. It’s much better to wait and see if you like a specific car pack and then you buy it seperately. The only advantage I found is a diversity of the cars and that’s all.
that Depends on the criteria of it beeing Worth it.
On my end the cars are mostly collecting dust in the garage.
The cars that i use more then once are the older race cars. (mostly)
so was it Worth it to me? probably not as the cars are so different in the packs to try to satisfy as many People as possible.
So no.
Will i still buy the car pass? Yes, for now but if the packs are gonna come With allot of bugs from now on that will change in the future.
I didn’t pay the full price for the game, ive bought the ultimate edition early november for 80€. If i calculate 60€ for the base game then i have paid only 20€ for VIP and the Car Packs. VIP alone i wouldn’t have bought and i consider it almost worthless. So i really only bought the ultimate edition because of the cars. So i have gotten 42 cars for 20 €. Was it worth it? Yes, i think so. I didn’t like all of the cars. Infact i probably wouldnt have missed a single one if i wouldn’t have bought the ultimate edition, but 42 cars for in my case 20€ is a good deal. Would i have paid 40€? Never. Will i ever buy ultimate again? Only if the price is right. That is if i ever buy a Forza Motorsport game again. Which considering the flaws of this game and the fact that the devs refused any and all communication is unlikely.
The Ultimate Edition here was $129.99. Historically, I like the double credits from the VIP status. So if I had bought the standard addition for $90 and the VIP would have cost an additional $30, then I’d be looking at $120.00. At that point $10 extra for the car pass just seemed like a no brainer.
I guess it was worth it, if I look at it that way.
I’m pretty easy to please. As soon as the Guilia and Stinger were added I was a happy man.
There were also lots of great surprises. I love trying out new cars, trucks, suvs, whatever, so the car pass always provides good fun. Who doesn’t enjoy barreling down the corkscrew in a Land Cruiser designed to drive through volcanoes and arctic tundra?
It’s usually a gamble . Yea you may get a lot of cars you want or you may end up with a bunch you don’t. but here lately at least for me the car packs haven’t had much to be excited about. I haven’t gotten the car pass since 6 and haven’t regretted not getting it. Of all the cars in this car pass there have maybe been 6 or 7 cars I liked
Nope!..not worth it. There are some good cars, but I think most people would save money if they bought only the cars they wanted. Most of the cars, from the car pass, I have no use for. Especially this new minivan!!! We’ve got a minivan?..but no new Indy cars or new IMSA DPI’s or DTM cars? Hopefully that will change but I’m not holding my breath.
I must answer no to the question, because, if I wouldn’t own a single car pack at the moment, then I would probably buy only 2 car packs (maybe 3). Those packs would be Dell and K1 Speed and maybe Totino’s. In the future I will not blindly buy any car pass, which probably means no Ultimate Edition for me, nor any expansion pass. I have learned my lesson.
Cars that appeal to me:
2018 Kia Stinger
2018 Bugatti Chiron
2016 Audi #17 Rotek Racing TT RS
1976 Chevrolet #76 Greenwood Corvette
1980 Porsche 924 Carrera GTS
1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6
1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau
Honorable mentions, but I wouldn’t buy a pack because of them (unless discounted heavily):
No not worth it. Like the giulia and stinger gt. Other than that it’s just a bunch of filler cars that r not interesting in the slightest. Game is out of date. Needs tons of newer model lineups. Lots of cars that have released for a while that should be in game that r not. Will not being car pass if I even buy next game, cause if project cars 3 continues to pushes the envelope that’ll be the series we all need to switch too, they pay attention to their fans too.
The car pass cost the equivalent of what? a couple of burgers.
Everyone knows way ahead of purchase that each pack is a complete lottery as to whether it’ll contain cars you really want. Regardless, for a few dollars you get another 40 odd cars.
Inevitably, this thread at best will only ever be a review of the cars included and every pack has already been discussed at length.
Over and above getting these cars into your collection many people enjoy the speculation, clue thread and anticipation. You have to view the car pass on the whole and not simply pick over the cars individually once the final pack is released.
Would I pay a little extra to get the pass in FM8 - yes.
That’s an interesting way to look at it that I hadn’t thought of. Maybe some people see the Car Pass as an “investment” and the anticipation of wondering whether you’ll get something good or bad is part of the appeal.
Among all of these, only one car is really competitive for S class, and that’s the Lotus Elise GT1.
Beautiful, competitive car. Hate it and hate me all you want for using it…it was in my wishlist I posted on the forum and after a few months it finally arrived. So I don’t care about it being a lb car.
Now I’m forced to play in R class online, so I’m testing these two:
1984 Nissan #20 Coca-Cola Bluebird Super Silhouette,
1978 Porsche #78 MOMO 935/78
What else…
The 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau is okay but never really used it online.
The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio…a car I really wanted, but ended up not being competitive at all in A class. In S class was even worse.
Too many trucks and suv’s I never used and I couldn’t care less about, since there are no dirt tracks and dedicated modes for those.
The rest… cars I just can’t drive since I’m always in S and R class lobbies.
Next time I will go with the standard edition. The most competitive cars were already in the standard game: Viper, Corvette, Ferrari F50, F50 GT, F40 LM, McLaren F1 GT, Ford GT40, Ford GT 2005, NSX, Zonda, etc…)
That’s it, I’m done wasting my money.
