FAQ: TROUBLESHOOTING, RESET, AND BANS

Troubleshooting general steps
If your game is stuck or shows other unsual behavior, follow these general troubleshooting steps in sequence:

  • Research: Before doing anything, research the issue. Read this FAQ, read the Xbox Live Status page, read the Forza Twitter account, read the FM.net News articles, read through the posts on the first few pages of the discussion forum, and use the Search function to find existing reports of your issue. If Turn 10 is investigating an ongoing issue sometimes the only thing to do is wait. If you have access to a different Xbox One and different router/connection than your home console (such as a friend’s) you might try logging in to see if the issue persists, to isolate profile issues vs hardware issues.
  • Restart: Backing out of the game to the P1 splash screen and then pressing A to Start may clear issues and prompt delivery of messages. If you have a disc installation you also might try ejecting the disc and reinserting it.
  • Reboot: Turn off your Xbox One console and unplug it for at least ten seconds, then start up and see if the issue is fixed. For some DLC and content update installation issues, users have reported success by changing the console’s Power Setting to Instant-On with Automatically download updates enabled. You might also try rebooting your router and modem to clear any ghosts in the machine. See Xbox Support’s topic on Xbox One Networking settings.
  • Reconnect: For multiplayer connection issues, see Xbox Support’s topic on Xbox One Networking settings. Try unplugging and rebooting your router and modem to clear any ghosts in the machine. Also try changing your console’s connection from wired ethernet to wireless (or vice versa) and back again, as described in this post.
  • Reinstall: From the dashboard, select FM5 and Manage Game and Uninstall (choose this instead of “Uninstall game and add-ons” to start; multiple users have reported that just uninstalling the game has fixed issues like crashing to dashboard from certain tracks), then reinstall the game, reboot, and restart and see if the issue is fixed. Your gamesave is stored in the cloud so reinstalling the game will not affect your progress.
  • Reset:
  • A) Reset your gamesave.* See steps below - resetting your gamesave will erase your game progress (and gift cars will not be sent again), so only do this as a last resort.
  • B) Reset your console* to factory settings via Settings > System. “Warning: Restoring your console to the factory default settings erases all accounts, apps, games, saved games, and settings. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. Your console syncs with Xbox Live automatically when it is connected with the service.” If you change consoles, see this description of the steps for restoring everything, including the sync time to recover your gamesave from the cloud.
  • Report: If none of the steps have fixed the issue, report it in clear and full detail to the developers at forzafb@microsoft.com. You may not receive a personal response but reporting may help T10 look into the issue and eventually lead to a resolution for multiple players facing your situation.
  • Request: Note that game design choices are not the same as software problems. Use the Game Features Wish List thread or email the developers to request game features you’d like to see in the game.

How do I reset my gamesave?
Resetting your gamesave may fix some game crashing issues, and it allows the challenge of starting over. WARNING: This profile reset will permanently reset your profile including: career progress, tokens, credits, liveries, and all garage cars, including gifts (reinstalling DLC will not trigger gift cars for that pack again). Only do this if you are absolutely sure you want to start over.Follow these steps:
Load or back all the way out of the game to the Splash Screen (the screen with the orange McLaren P1 and text that says “Press A to Begin”), and do the following: Hold down both shoulder buttons (LB + RB) while holding both triggers (LT + RT) and then press the Y (yellow) button at the same time. If done correctly, you should see a confirmation pop-up confirming that you want to reset your profile. Choose “Yes” from the menu and then press the A button to reset your profile.

Why did I get banned? I did nothing wrong.
If you have received a ban then you should receive a message either in game via the Message Center or via Xbox Live message, indicating the length of the ban. See the Xbox Enforcement page and be sure to read the Terms of Use which also cover Forza gameplay. The FM.net TOS prohibit discussion of enforcement issues on the forums so the only option is to email your question with details, such as all the gamertags on your console, to the developers at forzafb@microsoft.com. You may not receive a personal response to your email, but all emails are read. Ultimately you just have to wait out the length of your ban.

How do I contact Turn 10?
Per the forum Code of Conduct, “constructive criticisms and suggestions are welcome, provided they are directed to Turn 10 Administration via private e-mail, here: forzafb@microsoft.com.” If you are communicating a problem with your game or account, provide as much detail as possible in clear language. You will receive an automated response confirming your message was received, and you may or may not receive a followup response. Some basic information questions may receive a response from the official Twitter account www.twitter.com/Forzamotorsport but enforcement questions should only be directed to the email address. A list of forum Moderators is in the Code of Conduct but moderators are not Turn 10 employees and cannot answer some game account questions. Xbox Live cloudsave or account purchase questions may need to be directed to Xbox Support at Xbox.com or via Twitter.

I had tokens but they disappeared.
This is a known issue. Some players may see their token count mysteriously drop to zero but the tokens aren’t actually lost. Selecting a menu option toward purchasing something with tokens may make them reappear, or try the Troubleshooting steps above. See this thread for discussion.

FAQ: PURCHASING - SOUNDTRACK, GAME, AND FORZA STORE

What versions of Forza 5 are available for purchase?
Forza 5 is available as a full digital download, and was released in three different retail packages: standard, Day One, and Limited Edition. Due to limited quantities the Day One and Limited Edition versions may not be available for retail purchase. Each game disc holds the same content, while the packages included different digital add-ons. See this overview of each package contents. In June 2014, Forza 5 will be part of the Deals With Gold program, which offers discounts on games for Xbox Live Gold members. See this announcement from May 13.

Can I upgrade to the Limited Edition version of Forza 5 after I’ve installed the standard version?
Yes. The game content is the same for all disc and digital installations. The Limited Edition digital content is added by redeeming a Bonus Content DLC code included in the package. The VIP pack and tokens can be purchased separately, but the Limited Edition car pack and Token Accelerator pack are exclusive to LE owners (not available for online purchase).

What’s the difference between digital and disc versions?
The basic game content is the same for both versions, and DLC add-ons work the same for each. The disc version requires the disc to be in the console while playing the game. Your record of purchase of the digital version is associated with your Xbox Live account, so you can redownload it for free in the future if necessary.

Who composed the music for Forza Motorsport 5? Can I buy the soundtrack?
Forza Motorsport 5’s orchestral soundtrack was composed by Lance Hayes and John Broomhall. The game’s soundtrack is available for sale at major online music retailers like Xbox Music and iTunes, Amazon, and streaming services like Spotify.

What’s in the FM.net Store?
The Store menu link at the top of the website page will take you to a Buy Now link for game retailers, as well as a link for Forza Merchandise. The Forza Merchandise Store offers apparel and accessories branded with the Forza logo. The limited quantity Paddock Edition package includes branded stem caps, keychain, water bottle, and sunglasses (game not included but available as an add-on.)

When will the in game Marketplace be active and what will be in it? (now open)
The Marketplace was opened on April 16. The Marketplace is a menu for all the available FM5 DLC add-ons. From the Marketplace you can purchase Car Packs, individual Cars from packs a la carte, the VIP cars and benefits pack, the Car Pass, and Tokens.

FAQ: HARDWARE - WHEELS, HEADSETS, AND KINECT

Xbox.com - Xbox One Accessories

I want to buy a wheel - what are my options and which one is best?
See the Hardware & Peripherals subforum for discussion about wheels, pedals, and shifters. Xbox.com has an Accessories page listing licensed devices for use with the Xbox One. The Microsoft Store sells the TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition, made by Thrustmaster. See also this video overview of Xbox One racing accessories (posted prior to launch).

My wheel is causing problems with the game.
Look for threads in the [(http://forums.forza.net/turn10_topics65_Hardware-and-Peripherals.aspx)]Hardware & Peripherals subforum]( [Hardware & Peripherals subforum) for discussion that may address your issue. Hardware is licensed between the manufacturer and Xbox, not Turn 10, so you would need to contact the relevant support site for your device.

Do wheels or controllers result in faster lap times?
You may achieve better results with whichever you’re most comfortable, but the fastest drivers are fast regardless of the device.

Does Forza 5 support multimonitor display?
There is no game setting to support multiple monitor (ie. left-center-right) display.

How does Kinect work with Forza 5?
You can enable Head Tracking in the Pause menu or your Profile settings. Head tracking follows your chin and lean direction to change the view, just as the right stick of the controller. Some drivers find the Kinect experience more immersive and helpful for looking ‘through’ corners. Kinect does not provide controller-free steering in FM5.

.

FAQ: DLC - VIP, CAR PASS, LIMITED EDITION, AND CODES

Forum thread: Cars and DLC list
FM.net: Forza 5 Cars

Forza required an update when I started the game - what did it change?
Content updates are used to make new DLC cars visible for all players, or expand other game features; the Road America and Long Beach tracks were added to the game via free content updates. You may find details about recent content updates in the News section. See this chronology of content updates.

I installed a DLC pack but the cars aren’t in my garage - where are they?
(updated 3/28/14) To collect DLC cars for your garage, go to Buy Cars and find each included car model, which should be marked “FREE.” DLC pack owners get each pack car for free the first time you buy it; if you want to add additional cars of the same model to your garage again, then you’ll need in-game credits or tokens. Note that if you reset your gamesave, you may not have the free option with the new gamesave. See this thread for links and overviews of DLC packs. Also look for any Gift messages in the Message Center and press A to download them to your garage.

What do I get with VIP membership?
The VIP DLC provides access to five cars exclusive to pack owners, access to exclusive VIP Rivals events, double credits for Driver Level Rewards, and an icon indicating your VIP status on leaderboards and in lobbies. VIP buyers will receive the Lotus E21 for their garage via gift message, and other T10 gift cars from time to time often with special liveries applied. See this overview of VIP cars and benefits.

I installed the VIP pack - where are my tokens?
The VIP pack does not include tokens. The Token Accelerator Pack was included in the Limited Edition package.

I installed the VIP pack - where is my XP bonus?
The VIP pack does not include a bonus for XP; VIPs receive twice the credits as other players for each Driver Level Reward. If you receive 70,000 credits when you level up, you are receiving your VIP accelerated benefit.

How do I purchase VIP benefits or other DLC for a second account on my console?
Secondary home profiles and guest profiles will be able to Rent or Buy DLC cars in game if the primary profile has installed the pack, but only the primary profile will have access to the pack benefits (such as the VIP icon). Secondary profiles may also want to purchase the Car Pass or car packs to receive gift cars, Forza Reward points, or the one-free-car benefit from car packs, but may only see that the DLC is “Installed” with no apparent way to purchase it. The solution may be to change each profile’s setting to “This is not my Home console.” See these steps to be able to purchase DLC for other profiles on the console.

What comes with the Car Pass? How do I get the car packs?
(updated 6/9/14) The Car Pass is a discount on selected car packs. For a single price, Car Pass owners have free access to all the regular monthly car packs from November 2013 to July 2014, plus the Road America Booster Pack, the Long Beach Booster Pack, and the Nurburgring Booster Pack. Car Pass buyers will receive the LaFerrari, Maserati Tipo, and Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale cars gifted for their garage via the Message Center, and all DLC cars are free one time from the Buy Cars menu. Car Pass owners don’t need to download packs from the Store or Marketplace - simply go to the Buy or Rent cars list to access the included cars. See this overview of the Car Pass inclusions.

I’m a Car Pass owner, so why is the Store showing that I need to pay for the car pack?
The console Store details may indicate a price for each car pack even though the pack may be free to Car Pass owners. If you own the Car Pass, don’t download the pack from the dashboard Store or Marketplace- simply go to the Buy or Rent cars list to access the included cars, and the game will recognize you won’t have to purchase the DLC. If you try to access a car and are still required to purchase the DLC, it may not be covered by the Car Pass. If you own the Car Pass and know the pack is included but are still facing download or purchase issues, try the Troubleshooting steps at the top of this thread.

Is there an expiration date for DLC codes?
Unless a prepaid code card or description indicates an expiration date, you should be able to redeem the code for the first time for however long the DLC is available on Xbox Live.

I tried to redeem a DLC code but the system says the code was already used. Who do I talk to?
If you purchased a game package with code cards that aren’t working, you should contact the retailer. You may also receive assistance by sending a message to the Xbox Support Twitter account.

How do I get the Audi R8 DLC car?
How do I get the McLaren MP4-12C DLC car?
How do I get the Mountain Dew #88 Chevy Camaro DLC car?
These cars were single DLC add-ons distributed in limited quantities, and are not available to purchase via the Store. See this thread for details on each DLC item.

FAQ: GARAGE - MY CARS, BUY CARS, GIFT CARS

FM.net: Forza 5 Cars
Forum thread: Cars and DLC list

I installed a DLC pack but the cars aren’t in my garage - where are they?
See the DLC section of this FAQ thread for this question.

There’s a car model missing from the Buy Cars list that I know is in the game.
When you first enter the Buy Cars menu, the cars are sorted by Recommended cars, then Manufacturer, then model year. The car models in the Recommended section are not found among their fellow manufacturer cars, which can give the impression they’ve disappeared. Press X to Sort by Manufacturer, which will sort them together. See also the Cars and DLC list for add-on cars and how to obtain them.

When I go to Buy cars how do I know which ones I already own in my garage?
(updated 3/28/14) An icon shaped like a garage is shown under a car model to indicate that you have that car in your My Cars garage. You can press Y to filter the Buy Cars list to show only Not Owned models.

How do I know how many cars I own and what my total garage value is (for a related Title)?
Your garage count number is indicated in the Forza Profile menu under My Stats. There are Titles for garage value but this stat is not listed in the game. You may be able to infer your total garage value by calculating the difference in your current credits vs. total earned from racing and rewards, or by creating a checklist of car models you own and their prices.

How do I group cars together in my garage?
There is no grouping feature in My Cars, but you can press Y to Filter the cars you own by multiple Classes, and Drive Types.

How do I see my car’s Body Family for eligibility in Career, Rivals, Multiplayer hoppers, or Challenges?
Each car model has an associated Body Family even though this is not a visible or sortable field in My Cars. Career series and Rivals and Multiplayer hoppers may use Body Family to restrict eligible cars. See this list of cars sorted by Body Family. Alternately, you can create a Multiplayer lobby and change the Game Options - Car Restrictions to a particular Body Family, then Select Car to see which of your cars match that Body Family.

What is the arrow icon on some cars?
The arrow icon may be an indicator that the DLC for that car model is installing or needs to be installed.

How do I sell a car?
You can Remove a car from your garage by selecting it and then selecting Remove Car. However, there are no credits available for removing a car, and the car and parts are not retrievable after you confirm the removal. It may make sense just to keep cars you don’t currently use in case a reason to use them comes up in the future.

Where is the Auction House?
Forza Motorsport 5 does not feature an Auction House.

How do I gift a car to my friend?
Forza Motorsport 5 does not feature the ability for players to gift cars to other players.

I received a message about a gift car, but it’s not in my garage - how do I get it?
To retrieve gift cars, go to the Message Center, navigate to the Gifts tab, and press A to download the gift. Once the gift has been downloaded, the message will be removed.

Where can I claim the free car for Limited Edition owners?
The 11-27-13 Week in Review announced that Limited Edition owners can claim one free car from the basic car roster to receive as a gift for their garage. Claim your car at this link. Note that you can only claim one car one time, even if you reset your profile. See this thread for discussion.

I lost my gift cars (Lotus E21, VIP gift car, etc) after resetting my profile - can I get them back?
No, gift cars are a one-time gift per profile whether received from T10 or triggered by DLC purchase. If you remove them or lose them due to reset or other error, they cannot be recovered. You may of course buy replacements from the Buy Cars menu.

I erased the design from a T10 gift car - can I restore it?
No, once the design has been removed from a gift car, it is gone permanently. You may find replica designs for that car by searching for them in the Paint menu. In contrast, liveries that are shown on a car model in the Buy Cars list are manufacturer colors and can be reapplied after being painted over.

.

FAQ: FORZAVISTA

Why I don’t hear any audio on some of my car’s information points in Forzavista?
Each Forzavista car has a variety of icons for closer inspection of points around the car. Only the Forza logo icon comes with a narrated presentation. The “i” icon will trigger a slow panning view of that section of the car, but without audio. Audio presentations by the TopGear trio are found in the introductions to each Career League series.

What happened to the Explode button option on my car in Forzavista?
Some cars in Forzavista don’t have the Explode button option which opens all car panels at once, though you may still be able to manually open various panels for the same effect.

Why I can’t open the hood on my car in Forzavista?
Not all car models can open all panels in Forzavista. Also, a hood that can be opened on certain models will become locked if you change the engine or aspiration on that car.

Upgrading parts in Forzavista
You can apply upgrades to your car either via the Upgrade menu or in Forzavista itself. In Forzavista, select the wrench icon located on the front left tire. The Forzavista upgrade options are limited to rims, aero, and Quick Upgrade. An advantage of using Forzavista for cosmetic upgrades is that the viewing window is less obstructed and you can quickly go into Picture Mode to capture the look of your car.

FAQ: UPGRADE SHOP - PARTS, TUNING SETUPS, LIKES, AND USAGE REWARDS

Forum thread: Help our local FM5 artists and tuners and ‘Like’ it

Where can I buy tuning setups for my car?
In the Upgrade Shop for a car, press the controller button for Setup Manager, then select Load Setup to open the Tune Setups menu for that car model. There you will see a list of Recommended Tunes, or you can press the controller button to Search for tuning setups using parameters for Environment, Track, Car Class, Keywords, Creator, and Description. Downloading another player’s shared tuning setup does not cost any credits, but you may have to pay if you install the setup and it requires parts you haven’t yet bought for the car. Once you’ve paid for the setup on a particular car you won’t have to pay again and can uninstall and reinstall the setup for use as often as you like for free.

How do I change the tuning settings for a setup I’ve downloaded?
Tuning setups that are created by other players can not be unlocked for tinkering. You can remove a setup from your car and then later apply it from the Setup Manager menu. You could try contacting the creator to request that they make some changes (such as different rims in the same weight) and share the new altered setup for you to download.

How do I see all the tuning setups I have saved?
The only way to see your tuning setups is by viewing them from the car model you’ve selected.

How do I search for all setups shared by one Creator?
Searching for files by a Creator is limited to the car model you’ve selected.

How do I see a list of all the Creators I’ve Followed?
To see who you’ve Followed, search for a Tuning Setup, Design, or Vinyl by their Creator gamertag and select Designs Options, where you can toggle Follow/Unfollow.

How do I rate another player’s tuning setup?
You can “Like” a tuning setup that you have saved via Forzavista or the Upgrade Shop. See this thread for instructions and overview. After using a setup in multiple races you will also be prompted to “Like” the tuning setup. There is no option to downrate content.

Why can’t I install an aspiration conversion on my car?
This may happen if you’ve previously installed a downloaded tuning setup. See this thread for discussion and workaround.

How do I sell a part I’ve bought for a car?
Once you have bought a part for a car in FM5 it becomes an Owned part for that car and cannot be sold for credits. You can switch between owned parts for free once you have bought them.

How does tuning work? What settings should I use?
In order to tune a part of a car, the part must be adjustable. All cars can change the tire pressure without upgrade parts, some cars such as race cars have adjustable parts in stock form, and the rest require Race upgrades to be tuned. Tuning is largely about balancing understeer and oversteer. See this Tuning Guide as well as other threads in the Tuner’s Lounge for discussion about the effect of tuning settings on a car’s behavior.

How do I sell my tuning setups for use toward Achievements and Titles?
After you have installed upgrades and/or changed tuning settings, you can press the controller button for the Setup Manager and Save the file. After you name the file you will be given the opportunity to Share it with the community and describe it with the same parameters found in Search. Player use of your setups can earn you credits and unlock Achievements and Titles.

I’m getting messages that my setup was used by other players but no reward payout - when will I receive credits for its use?
If enough players use your setup within a certain timeframe (50 uses in 24 hours) you will be elevated to Professional status and you’ll credit payouts on a daily basis, which are automatically applied to your balance. Setups must be used in races to count, and using your own setups does not count. See this thread for discussion.

How do I gift my tuning setup to my friend?
Tuning setups cannot be gifted between players.

How do I get my upgrades to show on my cars in Recommended Designs?
You’ll notice that some Recommended Designs for a car you buy show the paint on upgraded car parts such as bumpers and rims. To get your upgrades to show in your designs that are recommended to others, upgrade and save the tuning setup for your car and then paint and save, then share it from the My Designs menu. See this thread for tips and discussion.

When you buy a car you will be offered a list of Recommended designs, sorted by Creators you’ve followed, Turn 10 Select, Popular, and Keyword. You also have the option to Search for designs at this point. If you wish, you can just press Y to pick a Manufacturer or custom color instead of a design. From the Career menu, select Paint and then Find New Designs to see the Recommended Designs again or to use Search.

Where can I buy Vinyl groups for my car?
From the Career menu, select Paint and then Apply Decals. Press A for the New Layer options, and select Apply a Vinyl Shape. Bumper left to see the list of Recommended Groups shared by community members, or press the controller button to Search for shared vinyl groups using parameters for Max Layers, Keywords, Creator, and Description.

How do I change the colors in a Design I’ve downloaded?
Designs and vinyls that are created by other players can not be unlocked for tinkering. You could try contacting the creator to see if they would make your requested alterations and share the new design for you to download.

How do I see all the Designs I have saved?
From the Career menu, select Paint, and then My Designs to access your Design Catalog of all car designs you have saved. The Design Catalog cannot be sorted or filtered.

How do I rate another player’s paint work?
You can “Like” a design that you have saved via either Forzavista or My Designs. See this thread for instructions and overview. After using a setup in multiple races you will also be prompted to Like the design. There is no option to downrate content.

How do I search for all designs shared by one Creator?
Searching for files by a Creator is limited to the car model you’ve selected.

How do I see a list of all the Creators I’ve Followed?
To see who you’ve Followed, search for a Tuning Setup, Design, or Vinyl by their Creator gamertag and select Designs Options, where you can toggle Follow/Unfollow.

How do I gift my design or vinyl to my friend for collaboration?
Designs cannot be gifted between players.

Can I transfer Designs and Vinyls from FM4?
No, all FM5 designers start from scratch.

Can I upload images into the game to use on my cars?
No, all designs in the game are assembled using the Design Editor.

How can I sell my paint for use toward Achievements and Titles?
After you have applied your vinyl shapes or paint, either press the controller button to save the design to your catalog, or back out of the layer booth and choose Save to Catalog. After you name the file you will be given the opportunity to Share it with the community and describe it with the same parameters found in Search. You can also cancel the share and later go to My Designs, select the design, and then select Share to make it public. Note that if you have used a vinyl created by another player as part of the design, you will not be able to Share the design. Player use of your designs can earn you credits and unlock Achievements and Titles.

I’m getting messages that my design was used by other players but no reward payout - when will I receive credits for its use?
If enough players use your design within a certain timeframe you will be elevated to Professional status and you’ll credit payouts on a daily basis, which are automatically applied to your balance. Designs must be used in races to count, and using your own designs does not count. See this thread for discussion.

How do I get my upgrades to show in Recommended Designs?
You’ll notice that some Recommended Designs for a car you buy show the paint on upgraded car parts such as bumpers and rims. To get your upgrades to show in your designs that are recommended to others, upgrade and save the tuning setup for your car and then paint and save, and Share it from the My Designs menu. See this thread for tips and discussion.

FAQ: FREE PLAY

How do I get player 2 set up in Free Play?
You may find that you’re being bumped out of Split Screen if you attempt to navigate with Player 2’s controller because Kinect is trying to switch your profile. Try having the second player log in before creating the Split Screen match, switch to your profile, then add Player 2 by using your own controller.

Can my friend use my garage cars in Free Play?
Player 2 can only use Rental cars or their own gamesave cars in Free Play. See this thread for discussion.

Where can I find the Airfield Full and alternate tracks, and Drag and Tag modes in Free Play?
The Free Play game mode options are Circuit Race and Drag, which affect the track options. Selecting Circuit will make available all tracks in all environments except for the Airfield Test Track environment, which is limited to the Circuit course. Selecting Drag makes available the Test Track 1/4, 1/2, and 1 mile drag strips for 2 or 8 lanes. You can play other game modes by creating a private Multiplayer lobby.

Can I select who my Drivatar opponents are, their cars, and their car designs?
Free Play game options allow you to select from 0 to 15 Drivatars, with their gamertags, cars, and designs selected by the system, limited by your chosen game option parameters of Car Class and Drive Type. You can change the Drivatar Difficulty in the Game Options list, from 8 different levels of difficulty. The Pause menu has an option to Disable Drivatar Designs.

Why am I not getting any credits or XP after a race?
The trade off to using Rental cars for free is that they do not earn credits or XP.

FAQ: CAREER

I just started the game - how do I get out of Career races into the painting and tuning menus?
After you choose your starter car, three races are mandatory in order to set up your Drivatar. The game will continue to load up the next Career race. If you wish to quit, start the next race, press Pause, and then Quit to get to the main menu.

How do I know which of my cars is eligible for the Career League series I entered?
Each car model has an associated Body Family even though this is not a visible or sortable field in My Cars. The names of the Career League series are the same as Body Families, and the events are also limited to certain Performance Index levels. You can review your owned cars by Body Family by creating a private Multiplayer lobby, change game options and car restrictions to the desired Body family, and then Select Car to see which of your cars match. See this list of the Career events with their restrictions.

I tried upgrading the car I bought in Career which made it illegal. What’s the point of upgrading?
The game selects eligible car models for each career and Auto Upgrades them to make them competitive and to keep you racing without spending time tuning. Additional upgrades might make the car ineligible in Career, but upgrades are used to expand the car’s competitiveness in Rivals and Multiplayer. Note that auto upgraded cars also cost more than stock. You can instead back out to the Cars menu and buy the eligible car at stock price, then add the upgrades you feel are best suited to the event before entering it.

How do I change cars or add tuning setups before Career events?
Change car and Install Tuning setups are not available in Career. Back out to the Car menu to make your changes and then reenter the League.

Can I select who my Drivatar opponents are, their cars, and their car designs?
The system chooses your Drivatar opponent gamertags, cars, and designs. You can change the Drivatar Difficulty before the race, from eight different levels of difficulty. You can also toggle Drivatar Designs on or off from the Pause menu.

Is there a way to change the starting grid order? I’m always in the back.
With the exception of Bathurst races, Career places you in the back of the starting grid as part of the racing challenge.

Where can I see my fastest lap time for the race I just completed?
Career events results do not display your best lap times or the finishing order for your opponents. You can look at the Leaderboards from the post-race screen to see your current best lap time for that track and class.

What is the Current Bonus number shown on the Affinity screen in the Profile menu?
The number appears to be the difference in percentage bonus between the current and previous level. For example, the Total Bonus factors for Manufacturer Affinity Levels 2, 3, and 4 are shown as 4%, 9% and 12%, leading to a Current Bonus of 5 for Level 3 (9%-4%=5), and 3 for Level 4 (12%-9%=3). Racing payouts use the percentage for the car’s Affinity level.

FAQ: PROFILE - DRIVATAR, AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Achievements, Challenges, Titles, and Badges

How is my Drivatar racing reward payout calculated?
Each day you log in to the game, you will receive a message indicating that your Drivatar has earned x credits from y races. The number of races and average credits per race will vary. You can possibly improve your Drivatar’s results by making sure you have synched it for every track - see the My Drivatar menu in Profile to find which tracks still need your lap times - and by improving your driving during races. See this thread for discussion.

Why has my Drivatar sync stopped increasing? How do I get it to 100%?
You may see your Drivatar sync increased quickly at the beginning because you may be racing the same tracks in Career, Rivals, or Multiplayer. Full Drivatar sync requires multiple laps on each track in the game. You can see the My Drivatar menu in Profile to find which tracks still need your lap times. 100% may not be possible because players cannot set lap times on the Airfield Terminal and Hangars tracks (used as open Tag arenas). For Drag tracks you can create a Free Play race and change the mode from Circuit to Drag. See this thread for discussion.

I’ve completed some Achievements and Titles but they are not unlocking.
Some Achievements and Titles are difficult to unlock, but others seem to be stuck for all players. For example, the Head Over Heels title for flipping your car may require a bumper to bumper roll rather than barrel roll, but is possible. The Bandit title for driving a Pontiac Firebird has incorrect instructions to drive a 1977 model when the actual required model is a 1973 to get the title to unlock. Beat a Friend in Rivals titles seem to be locked for everyone. See this thread for discussion and tips.

FAQ: FORZA REWARDS AND MESSAGE CENTER

Forza Rewards page
Forza Rewards FAQ
Forum thread: Forza Rewards discussion

Where do I redeem Forza Rewards?
Forza Rewards must be redeemed via the website to trigger your gift messages. Click the Rewards dropdown menu at the top of the forums web page and select Redeem. Once you have redeemed your monthly Rewards you must then go to your Message Center and press A on each gift message to download it.

Which DLC purchases count toward Forza Rewards? My points aren’t updating.
If you recently played a Forza game or purchased DLC/tokens, it usually takes up to 48 hours for that to reflect on the site. Note that all data does not update at once, so you may see recent usage reflect on the site before recent purchases and achievements are updated. Also try rebooting. See the Rewards FAQ and or the Rewards discussion thread.

I redeemed Forza Rewards but received a smaller amount than I expected.
See the second post of the Forza Rewards FAQ for a history of rewards by month and tier. Tier amounts are cumulative; Tier 6 players receive that tier’s rewards plus the rewards for Tiers 1-5.

I received message saying I have a Forza Rewards gift but it’s not deposited to my game.
You must press A on gift messages for them to be downloaded and added to your game account.

I downloaded a gift message but I received a different amount or none of the gift.
Some players have reported this behavior. Reboot to make sure your account reflects everything accurately. Use the Forza Rewards FAQ or Forza Rewards discussion thread and report your details to forzafb@microsoft.com.

I keep getting bumped out of the Message Center before I can navigate over to gift messages.
Try rebooting your console to clear this issue. See this thread for discussion.

I get an error message when trying to download gifts.
If you attempt to download a gift message and see an “error occurred” message, it may just be a server issue and the only thing you can do is wait, or there may be an issue with your installation. See the Troubleshooting steps at the top of this thread.

FAQ: RACING

How is XP calculated?
XP is calculated based on distance driven, regardless of car or class.

XP Boost timer
On each pre-race screen you’ll see the option to Press Y to Accelerate bonuses. Purchasing a boost will double the XP you receive for the selected time period. The XP Boost timer begins counting down the moment you complete the purchase and cannot be paused, continuing to run regardless of whether you are racing or in menus. You can maximize the effectiveness of the timer by setting up longer races in Free Play or Multiplayer, or with the unlimited laps in Rivals.

What does the /!\ symbol mean next to my lap time? What causes dirty laps?
The caution symbol next to a lap time means the time is uncertified, or ‘dirty.’ Dirty laps are caused most often by contact with other cars and walls, or by driving outside the track boundary, or by drafting ahead or behind opponents, or by heavily bottoming out the car. Dirty laps are always ranked below all certified laps on the leaderboard to provide a comparison for players under equal circumstances. If you want to increase your leaderboard positions, clean laps are easier to achieve in Rivals or races with no opponents. Racing opponents is primarily about your relative position at the finish line. See this thread for discussion.

Do driving Assists result in faster lap times?
Of the available assists, only Manual w/Clutch shifting results in discernable time savings (over Automatic) due to the speed in changing gears and control over revs and the engine’s power band. The other assists may lead you to faster lap times based on your comfort level, but the fastest drivers can consistently set fast times with or without Assists. See threads such as this one for discussion.

Do wheels or controllers result in faster lap times?
The answer is largely the same as with assists: you may achieve better results with whichever you’re comfortable with, but the fastest drivers are fast regardless of the device.

How can I learn to set faster lap times?
The key to fast driving is track knowledge (braking and turn in points) and the ability to keep the car settled at high speed (throttle control, shift points, steering). You can find threads discussing tips for becoming faster in the Discussion forum and Racers Lounge, as well as on external sites such as DrivingFast.net.

How do I access Telemetry and what does it tell me?
While driving, press up or down on the D-pad to toggle the telemetry display, and right and left bumper to navigate between telemetry sections. The horsepower and rpm readings in the General section can be used for tuning gears and learning the best moment to shift. The Friction section indicates how close each tire is to the edge of its grip, with red indicating sliding. The Suspension section shows right height and compression, which will turn red if bottoming out. The Tires section shows temp, pressure, camber, and wear. The Heat section can reveal if tires are too cold (blue) or hot (yellow-red) and if overinflated or too heavily cambered. Damage shows which parts are operating at reduced performance if the Assist is set to Simulation. See the Tuner’s Lounge forum or this thread for discussion.

Where can I see Telemetry in leaderboard replays?
Telemetry is only visible when you are driving in FM5. See this thread for discussion.

FAQ: RIVALS AND LEADERBOARDS

Why can’t I see the next ghost car when I beat a Rival?
This is a known issue. You may prompt the ghost to appear by pressing Pause and then Resume, or exit out of the event to select your new rival and start again.

How is a Rivals race rewards payout calculated?
Beating a Rival will boost your credit payout by a percentage factor determined by your position on the Rivals leaderboard. See this thread for discussion.

Does the mini leaderboard in Career show me times based on that event?
The mini leaderboard shows all lap times by gamertag for that track and class, regardless of other event restrictions.

Where are the Drag racing leaderboards?
You must create a Free Play or Multiplayer game in Drag mode, then press Y for the Leaderboard for that track. The leaderboard car class shown will match the car you have selected.

Where are the Drift leaderboards?
Drift leaderboards can be found for their respective events in VIP, Monthly, and Drift Rivals, but there are no overall drift leaderboards for each track/class.

Where can I find overall Class leaderboards?
FM5 does not feature overall leaderboards by class. Circuit leaderboards for each track by class can be found in the Time Attack section of Rivals. You may also find Forzastats.com helpful.

How can I see the fastest leaderboard times for a particular car model?
FM5 leaderboards only show the fastest lap for a gamertag, so even if the top section of a leaderboard shows times set by one car, there’s no way to know how fast that driver could lap another car model until the driver sets a faster lap time. You can search by car model at Forzastats.com.

Why does the Friends or Near Me section of a leaderboard show no results?
The Friends sort of a leaderboard will not display if none of your friends have posted a lap time and the Near Me sort will not display if you have not yet posted a lap time for that track and class. Sometimes you may have posted a lap time but the Near Me or Friends windows will be empty - this is a known issue. Simply cycle around by hitting the right bumper a few times and the times should pop up. See this thread for discussion.

.

FAQ: MULTIPLAYER

Where can I find the Airfield Full track in Multiplayer?
When you create a private lobby the default game mode setting is Circuit, which limits the track options. Change the setting to Tag (or other mode) to be able to select Airfield Full and its variants. See this thread for discussion.

Crashers were griefing the hopper I was in! What can I do?
If you experience players being abusive online, use Xbox’s enforcement procedures to mute or block communications, and file a complaint. (Note, despite the Block message statement “You won’t be matched up in games,” Blocking only affects communications/visibility on Xbox Live). The Friends section of the console dashboard has a Recent players list to help easily report griefers. You also have the option to Vote to Kick an abusive player from hoppers by selecting their gamertag in the game lobby. To avoid griefers completely, start a private lobby with just your friends. You’ll find multiple threads in the Racers Lounge forum where clean racers seek each other out. See this thread for discussion about poor drivers online. If you do have a replay or recorded clip of clearly abusive play, send the details in a private message to Snowowl or Helios or forzafb@microsoft.com to investigate. Naming and shaming of gamertags is not allowed on the forums and in-return griefing in multiplayer is not recommended as you could be subject to enforcement yourself. Some apparent ‘griefing’ may actually be the result of lag and not the intent of a player.

How do we change our starting grid order in private multiplayer lobbies?
Multiplayer hoppers set grid ordering at random. Private multiplayer lobbies can set the Game Options for Grid Ordering to PI or Random. See this thread for discussion of grid ordering.

I can’t connect to the multiplayer servers or I’m getting an Unable to Join Session message.
Try rebooting, including your router and modem. See if you need to change IPSec settings. There may be a temporary issue reported on the Xbox Live Status page or via Forza’s Twitter account. See the Xbox Support topic on networking.

I’m getting a Weak Network Connection message. What can I do?
This message may appear on your screen while racing in multiplayer. Although it doesn’t seem to have any impact on playing, you can try rebooting to clear it. See the Xbox Support topic on networking and this thread for discussion.

What does the icon to the right of a gamertag indicate?
You may see one of two small icons next to gamertags in lobbies and on leaderboards: a crown indicates VIP status, and the T10 icon is limited to developers.

Where can I get the emblems I see to the left of gamertags in multiplayer lobbies?
The graphics you see to the left of gamertags are Badges. You can find Titles and Badges in your Profile from the main menu. Each Badge and Title has a requirement you must perform in order to unlock them. See the list of Titles and Badges requirements.

FAQ: MEDIA - PHOTOS, REPLAYS, GAMEDVR CLIPS, AND TWITCH STREAMING

Xbox.com: Upload on Xbox One Walkthrough Video
FM.net: Forza Motorsport and Twitch
Community Events Forum - photo contests

Where can I see my replays?
The game stores two different types of replays. Completing a lap in circuit mode (Free Play, Career, Multiplayer) automatically saves a replay of your fastest lap for that track and class. These can be viewed under Rivals in the Time Attack section, by selecting your (or any) gamertag and View Replay. If you select Save Replay after a race, these are stored in Forza TV on the main game menu where you can also see and search for other community member saved replays.

How do I upload and share a replay?
Shared Replays are found in the Forza TV menu, where other players can see them in game, but Replays cannot be edited or uploaded to FM.net from within the game. Xbox One apps can be used to share recorded game clips to the internet.

How do I upload and share a recorded game clip?
To upload game video clips to the internet, use “Xbox, Record That” or GameDVR and Upload Studio. Saved clips can be found on the dashboard in your Profile and in the Upload app, where you can choose to save them to OneDrive (and ultimately other hosting services such as YouTube). You can also save recorded broadcasts from the Twitch app using your www.twitch.tv channel settings (Videos on Demand).

How do I broadcast gameplay using Twitch?
Using the Twitch app will broadcast your gameplay as a live stream which can be viewed by others via the Twitch app on the console or at Twitch.tv. Twitch settings can be used to record and save these streams to YouTube. See this FM.net article and on how to broadcast using Twitch. If you’re planning a broadcast, add your details to this forum thread to let others know. For Twitch troubleshooting, contact their Twitter account.

Where can I “Like” a replay?
Selecting one of your saved replays in the Forza TV menu brings up a File Options window with counters for “# of Likes” and Rating, but there appears to be no way for players to Like replays or rate them.

Where can I “Like” a photo?
Selecting one of your saved photos in the Forza Gallery menu brings up a File Options window with counters for “# of Likes” and Rating, but there appears to be no way for players to Like photos or rate them.

How do I view and share my game photos?
Your saved photos are found in the Forza Gallery menu in the game. Selecting a photo brings up File Options with the choice to Share or Unshare a photo. Shared photos will be visible to other players in the Forza Gallery menu. All of your photos, regardless of Share status, appear in your Gallery at FM.net, which can be found in the drop down Community menu at the top of the website page. Right click on a photo to save it to your computer for uploading to your OneDrive account or other photo hosting site.

How do I post my game photo to a forum discussion thread?
Once you’ve uploaded your game photo to a hosting site, use that url to post your photo in the forums. (Please do not link directly to the fm.net GetPhoto url as this stresses the server). Press Post Reply to a thread and click the Insert Image button, which will prompt you to paste the url and any description you choose. When posted, the forum will automatically resize your photo to forum limits.

Relevant sections of the FAQ have been updated to reflect changes made by today’s content update.

for some reason. i token count dropped. i had 2400 and now its at 1261.

Ok so i had a design for my audi r18 and ive accidentlly saved over it with another design. I had previously shared the design so i could redownload it. I now have the design in my designs and its showing up as not being locked and being able to view its stats, unshare, rename, all the things you can do with a normal unlocked design. However, when i go to change the colour or apply decals it says the design is locked despite the fact it behaves like a normal design. Is there a way i can get it unlocked and if so how can i and would it be possible, if it is doable, that a t10 member could get it unlocked for me as i can’t do anything to it and its really bugging me as i need to edit some bits on it. Thanks
