And you don’t see that as a problem? One of the fears I have is that I’m going to log in one day and, through no fault of my own, all of my progress is going to be gone. And frankly, if I invest any time into this new Motorsport, I’m going to be more than a little upset if that happens and I have to level all of that stuff up again.
Well, I’m not using MS cloud saving. Thankfully I’m on Steam. However that’s not the point. The point is, the way it was phrased is that your progress will ONLY save on their servers only when you are online.
I am concerned about car upgrades being tied to car level. I do most of my racing with a smallish league, so now if we want to do a series with multiple cars I have to max out the level on them all to test them? Every single person that wants to race in the series has to max at least one of them? I also wonder what this will mean for sharing tunes, is that feature gone? Will tunes have a required car level attached? This seems like such a bad idea to me
So you play completely off line? No leaderboards, no driveatars, no paints, no store tunes etc?
How big are the leaves on the trees around Prague? Are they huge?
That’s different. This apparently uses a GT7 type save system.
I play offline quite often. And I use my own paints and tunes. And drivatars work just the same way as they do online.
It’s funny that people are absolutely ok with giving up ownership of such a basic thing as “save files”.
I liked a lot of what I heard today, especially about the AI using machine learning and no more cheats and rubber banding and such. Hopefully that’s something they implement in Forza Horizon 6.
I’m not sure if I like the sounds of having to level up every car to get access to upgrade parts. I like to jump into a new car and immediately start upgrading and tuning and testing a build.
I would have liked to get a look at the tuning menu, and I certainly hope sharing tunes is still a thing, otherwise that would kill a lot of my interest in the game.
Care to explain? Don’t have gt7.
@Clutch2009 then fear a HDD fail and your local save gone.
From what I’ve seen here, at least support can do something for you if you lose/corrupt a save if it’s been sync’d
If you’re going to start worrying about that start local first. /OT
Tuning menu…turn on any forza and it will be exactly the same. Theres a reason why certain things werent shown and its that theyre the same. As soon as i saw the guy playing the game change out of the steering wheel view before the hairpin so we wouldnt see that steering animation hasnt changed i literally laughed out loud.
Im happy i have game pass because its the only way id play this game but i was certainly expecting more after 6 years. Why is there no qualifying, why if their simulation is so advanced are they relying on some car building game mechanic to engage players instead of the driving itself. Its quite strange tbh, 6 years of development to basically slow up progression.
GT7’s save system is quite controversial, it requires an online connection to play the career mode and your save is synced to their servers (not to be confused with the cloud save). If the server is undergoing maintenance or if your line drops, you can’t play the career mode.
You know what? Given all of the horror stories that have come out of Motorsport 7 and Horizon saves being hopelessly corrupted and no tangible compensation made because of that, I think I’ll fear their cloud servers first.
So you can’t save any single player progress unless you’re connected to the Internet?
Well, that certainly saves me $70.
I’m just thinking about how Diablo III, SimCity, and GT7 all tried this. Don’t remember it working too well.
I can’t help but remember how the original Forza Motorsport from 2005 doesn’t have this problem. Progress there can still be saved even though the servers have been offline for over a decade.
It’s kind of sad how a nearly 20 year old game can still save progress offline, but a brand new 2023 game with cutting-edge graphics and physics on far more powerful hardware can’t.
Actually, it’s kind of pathetic that a brand new game doesn’t even include a feature that was standard back in 1998.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think anyone accepting this blatantly anti-customer move here has any room to complain if they one day boot up the game and find that the servers are down and therefore either lose all their progress or can’t play their new $70 game.
I hear all this talk across the Internet about how formulaic and lifeless racing games are nowadays, yet people keep buying them anyway. This is why sports games like Madden never get better either; people complain, yet buy them anyway.
You don’t have to let billion-dollar corporations with all the resources in the world to implement a better solution walk all over you. Vote with your wallets now while you still have the chance.
They’ll change their tune if they see how ripping off their customers like this affects pre-orders or sales.
First of all, they (more or less) answered both of my questions from the community questions thread (online requirement and race engineer talking within a race), so thanks for that, I appreciate it.
Hiding SP stuff behind online requirement is not ok for me.
People need to realise this game has a ton of licenses and will be offline at some point.
Reminding people here: FM6, wich is not even 8 years old now, is offline.
Everything what requires online connectivity is not accessible right now, if intended or not.
The big question is: What is playable offline in the new FM, if the day comes this game will be offline.
Answer was: Everything that doesn’t need progression.
Again: Just for game preservation reasons. I won’t play the game offline, but I want the option to.
Is it only Free Play? Do I have access to all cars and tracks with all options like weather/time of day and so on?
I get the system combines SP with MP, so the progression is shared.
But I want to have access to all cars and tracks, even if I’m offline, simple.
I won’t pre-order before it isn’t answered in detail.
We are talking about 100€. I don’t pay that much for a game, wich could be unplayable for the most part in a few years, much to the liking, if Turn 10 and/or MS wanna keep the servers running.
And before the explanation for that online requirement comes up: I don’t care, if someone cheats in this game.
Why should I?
I don’t wanna give up my option to jump into the game in like 15 years from now on.
I still do things like that (playing World Driver Championship (N64) for example every few years.
2nd question was the engineer: Can we disable it.
Answer was: We still adjust it and she won’t sound like in the trailer (wich is good to hear).
But still. Just give me the option to disable anything spoken outside of career introduction.
I’m a very experienced racing game player (playing these kind of games since around 25 years now…errrf…) and I don’t need an engineer to say “best lap!”, “you did great!”, “now push!”, if I can just see those informations on the HUD.
Do you guys can imagine how annoying that dude on the menu in FM7 is, who wants me to go into the car dealer every week? For 6 years now! There wasn’t a single deal in like 5 years, because I have every car.
I simply want a quiet game. Nobody explains stuff I know for decades now. No VO who tells me “do this, do that”.
Please, just the option. I get I’m maybe a bit sensitive on that topic and get annoyed quickly, but all I ask for is to turn it off. Options are always the best way.
To end this on a positive note:
The game looks and sounds great, the new progression system looks interesting, all the new details with tyre compounds and weather and so on is really impressing.
Le Mans and Suzuka confirmed, now only Nürburgring GP + Nordschleife needs to be confirmed and I’m happy content wise.
I have faith in you guys. This looks really good and could be the new game I play for many years.
Chris Esaki sympathic as always, a pleasure to listen to that enthusiastic explanations how the game works.
Last but not least: manteomax, you do a great job there with the community questions thread and the informations you provide every week for the FH5 playlist. Thank you.
Some people seem to think the car parts unlocking and “car points” used for upgrades will apply to the whole game. Didn’t you notice we also win credits after the race? The parts unlocking and CP is most likely just for the Builders Cup. I’m willing to bet Free Race and MP will rely on good old credits will all parts unlocked and available to buy. That might also mean cars built in the Builders Cup would not carry over to other modes though (or we get them free will all parts).
Same thing for the “Challenge the grid” thing. Want to have a sim-like race weekend with qualifier and race? Do it in Free Race or multiplayer. Or maybe we can even see everyone’s lap time during practice so you can just set your position accordingly with Challenge the grid. There are a lot of things we don’t know yet!
He definitely said car levels and car points apply to all modes. He specifically said “credits are for buying cars, car points are for upgrades”
Sorry, I missed that part! I’ll need to rewatch the stream more attentively. I only remember a mention of car xp carrying over between modes and “cars are built, not bought” which I imaginee only applies to the Builders cup.
It does kinda suck if we have to grind every single car to get the parts (he said 2-3h per car to get to max level?) but could lead to better builds by progressively racing and upgrading it to our liking
If Always online is true, i am out.
This is a joke!
This game is going to last years and years, that’s why they rebooted it.
A ton of folks wanted it harder to get cars lol well here ya go. Prepare to grind your tail off. 500 +50+ plus all the other cars they will add, that’s a ton of hours to get what you want. I will say though with 7 and the horizons having 700-800 cars made it impossible to focus much on different cars. Now it seems like you will have to. They solved that problem for better or worse…
I personally loved 7 campaign. I figured they would expand but now you have an endless campaign, that will always get stuff.
Graphics look way better than 7 to me.
Excited, just don’t like the idea of Forza becoming Destiny.
If people had access to offline saves nowadays than you know what PC players would be doing and then people would be complaining about cheaters and exploits.
He said it would take a few hours to reach max car level, but you don’t need to reach max level to unlock all the car upgrades so I’m thinking maybe an hour to have access to all upgrades.
