I understand we’ll probably get to know more on this very soon but i still think it’d be interesting to start the discussion now. What hardware do you think will be on the minimum and recommended spec sheet? What CPU/GPU do you think should do the job? Are 8gb of VRAM going to be enough? What graphical options and features do you expect to see? I’ll share my expectations and predictions below, you share yours. And lets have a discussion!
I imagine we should expect more or less similar specs to FM. On the cpu side, it can’t be higher than like a Ryzen 5 3600 (but definitely a bit lower) for the minimum specs since it’s pretty much what the consoles use, and a ryzen 5 5600x/11600k,12400f on the recommended specs. I also expect the CPU to be a great degree of a limiting factor if you’re chasing after high refresh rates.
Even though it’s ditching last gen, the game will still have to run on the Series X/S, so i imagine it’s gonna have to scale and be able to run on a reasonable hardware on PC too. Based on FM, 8gb of VRAM should be plenty enough for high settings at 1080p/1440p. (Considering you’re not using ray tracing)
FH5 required a gtx 1070 on the recommended specs. And i’ve checked benchmarks and depending on your CPU, it can do between 70-90fps. I imagine FH6 shouldn’t be more than 20 % more demanding. Which lines up to around an rtx 2060- rx 6600 at worst for similar performance targets at high settings. But if you’re on a gtx 1070 or lower, i imagine your best bet will be around low settings 1080p just to get 60fps, considering you’re not too CPU limited. (if you have a decent cpu) An rtx 3060 should probably sit comfortably between 60-80fps at 1080p high settings. Maybe even 60fps at 1440p medium-high settings.
I expect the game will feature FSR4,FSR 3.1, FSR Native AA, Native DLAA, DLSS4. Ray tracing will probably expand beyond just car reflections. MSAA will probably be replaced with TAA but hopefully you’ll be able to disable it. (although i suspect it won’t be a very pleasing experience without it since i fully expect a lot of the graphics are going to be built around it) And i bet lots of people will be reporting on why their graphics look blurry.
Honestly I hope it will run just as FH5 does even on low end machines. I play on an ultrabook with an integrated GPU. 1080p - mix and match the settings which gives 45-60FPS. Also I would like to be able to play it on the SteamDeck like the rest of the FH games. I am sure it will get more demanding, but as long as I can get 40+FPS at 1080p low with my lappy, I am going to be happy.
I’m on a 10-year-old build with no current prospects of building a new machine (lol memory prices), so I sincerely doubt I’ll be able to so much as load it.
That’s the only thing keeping me from panicking and stressing out about my 5 year old build. I do want more performance (I always want more performance) but stuff has got to run on consoles, and the rumours about new consoles coming out soon are ridiculous. I mean, what are they going to put in those things? They are either going to be prohibitively expensive or laughably outstripped by the previous generation in price to performance metrics.
The only new consoles I could potentially see coming out soon are portable and comparable to PS5/Series X. APUs are the only technology actually advancing in the PC part market right now. Every other part is increasing in performance… but comes with a equivalent increase in price and power consumption. Not really viable as an avenue for consoles.
I have no doubt whatsoever in the studio’s ability to optimize its game so that it runs smoothly on a wide range of configurations. The engine allows for this, so there’s no need to worry about that.
The fact that it’s also coming out on Series S is a good indicator.
On the other hand, I’m not sure if I should be happy about it. Will the game be “prettier” than its big brothers? Not so sure. We may be reaching the glass ceiling for this generation, and anything that aims to “be playable on as many configurations as possible, even small ones” tends to drag the potential down.
Yeah, considering the current state of hardware prices, it WILL run on my current rig. Can’t say how well, but FH5 runs wonderfully, so I’m hopeful FH6 won’t be much harder to run. That said, in a financial pinch I’ve played games on APU’s at 360p30, so I’ve definitely lived with worse.
By the looks of it, you might actually run it. But you’re probably looking at low-medium settings for 60-ish fps. IF the game even launches somewhat optimized. Might wanna invest into Lossless Scaling on Steam just to be safe. For the up-scaling part, not necessarily Frame gen.
I remember when FH5 launched i was so disappointed by the performance. Thankfully, i had bought a new PC just a couple of months before launch, because if i hadn’t my experience would’ve been waaay worse. Considering the amount of textures either pop-in or not loading-in completely, even on an rx 6600xt. Let alone if i was playing on my old 1050ti. And those issues still aren’t completely gone, if not they seem to be transferring over from one Forza game to another.
I would hope you didn’t pre-oreder for the 4 days early access. Because that would be a massive mistake. By the looks of it, those texture pop-in issues are going to be returning for FH6. I’m not even sure how you play FH5 on a 1650 super. Considering it’s only 4gb and surely, the game is dipping into system memory if you’re playing on high settings.
And i’m saying “high settings” because, the pop-in issue is pretty bad on any setting under “Ultra” for Geometry and Textures. High settings - sort of okay but waay more noticable than Ultra. Medium-low however? You don’t wanna be playing FH5 on medium-low settings on a 1080p monitor. And i don’t think FH6 is gonna be any different. So expect issues.
pre-ordered it yesterday XD my laptop is a gaming one and is like 3 years old and i was running fh5 on every single setting on high. only thing is I was having the low video memory icon popup on my screen every once in a while. I can hope fh6 is going to run alright.
i think these are only temporary specs until the actual confirmation. i mean, come on, an rtx 2060? that was released 6 years ago. you would be way to optimistic to be able to run fh6 on that gpu, even on 1080p.
I upgraded most of my hardware over the summer in order to update to Windows 11. I say “most” because I forgot to replace my 1060 before the price hikes.
For the 1650 super I would expect similar performance to FM if not slightly lower in Horizon for being open world and having much higher graphical fidelity.
I’m sorry lol I gave you my graphics card XD. I have a 3050 nivida graphics card. 16gb of ram and I will tell you my GPU and CPU could when I can get that info
