With the next gen Xbox coming next year and Motorsport 8 having 3 years of development time by then I don’t see Horizon 5 coming next year. It would make no sense to launch two major Forza titles in the same year. I think Horizon 5, like Motorsport 8, will have an extra year of development. Most likely a 2021 release. Phil Spencer even confirmed he’s giving the Forza teams more time than ever to develop their next big entries
So because of an extra year of waiting do you guys think we’ll get a third expansion in 2020? If so what do you guys think it should be? Personally I’d like something crazy like Hotwheels or a really gorgeous map like Fortune Island but BIGGER. No LEGO crap again or anything of that caliber. Hotwheels was actually cool unlike LEGO which felt boring and pretty uninteresting to be honest.
Not gonna happen. But if it does I sincerely hope it’s more LEGO so I can read shallow baseless complaints about it on the forums months after release.
Because clicks.
If a media outlet has the opportunity to get a lot of clicks, they will use that opportunity, and a story on “HORIZON 5 NEXT YEAR???” is gonna get a lot of clicks.
People keep that info in mind and there you go, fake news.
So, that is most likely where that misconception came from, plus people still think that Microsoft’s Gaming division XBOX is gonna go the Double (that would be marketing and sales suicide).
PG were hiring staff for Horizon 5 and also has employed an ex Rockstar coder.
With that in mind I believe that PG have two development teams at present. 1 team whom keep Horizon 4 upto date and another which is working on Horizon 5.
As the hiring was recent I’d assume that Horizon 5 is still in really early development. Meaning that if my prediction is right, we still have around a year of further development with Horizon 4 giving wee hints via new additions of what’s to come in the new title.
A nice package for 2020 would be the launch of both Motorsports 8 and Horizon 5 to launch the new Xbox.
I wonder if the hiring of an ex Rockstar coder gives a hint to a much more VR experience and a much larger map we can walk or drive around and enter garages etc, although maybe I just woke from a dream?
Aside from the next console coming and the clicks talk blah blah blah…there will either be a 3rd expansion or somehow the current expansions will get bigger. The roads discovered stat isnt maxed out yet…thats a good indicator some new areas have to be in the mix. I’m 99% sure before expansion one and two were released…that roads stat was completely maxed out
Yeah, but no. Obviously there’s a team already working on FH5 but it won’t come out in 2020 - MS won’t pit Motorsport against Horizon. We all know which one will suffer - they won’t risk that. And if we follow your idea, what would they release in 2021-22 ? Nothing ? Two years without content ? Can’t see this happening with MS at the wheel.
Besides they’re on a new dev cycle (3 years) now so FH5 in 2020 is utterly absurd.
And you’re right, PG has two teams - one working on FH content, the other working on their upcoming RPG which isnae Fable 4 at all (cough). And wasn’t the Rockstar employee joining either T10 or PGs RPG team ? It’s been a while since av read that news.
The official Forza channel just recently uploaded a video called “Forza Horizon 4 - Year 1 Recap”, the description says “Enjoy the look back and get excited for Year 2!”. That sounds like FH4 is getting active support for another whole year, thus a new expansion seems very possible.
FH5 probably won´t drop before FM8 is out, and T10 just recently started hireing Graphics Designers and started the concept phase, thus I don´t even think that we´re getting FM8 in 2020, which would push FH5 back to 2022. 3 years without a new major DLC seems really unlikely to me.
If there is another expansion they aren’t going to tell us now. Possible I guess but I would rather they just add MP to the two we have. Adding a 3rd again without MP. I say don’t bother.
