Forza Horizon 4 Issues on PC with syncing data

Recently, (within the past month) Forza has just not allowed me to play on my PC. it started happening around mid-July, anyway i launched the game one day and it asked me to sync my data which was weird because i just played the day before and hadn’t made any changes to my PC or any files of the game; at first it would just sit at 0%, until recently it would sit at 0%, instantly go to 100%, then say, “LOAD FAILED An unknown error has occured. Please try again later.” I’ve tried syncing 3 times a day for the past few weeks. The weirder part is that I have no issues playing on the same account on my Xbox; it synced perfectly fine and lets me load in perfectly, what could be causing this aggravating issue and can i fix it.

You could try the following which helped me after I killed off a go-nowhere-do-nothing sync.

  1. Go to Windows Admin Tools > Services.
  2. Try stopping(/restarting) Xbox Live Auth Manager (which may say other components need to be stopped). You might get an error message, but don’t worry about it (well, probably don’t; I didn’t).
  3. Try running Horizon 4. I didn’t restart my laptop, either.

This worked for me after an interminable sync that may have gone on for hours without doing anything. It might help cure your issue, but I can’t and won’t guarantee that.

The whole sync-when-the-game-loads routine is annoying. Sync afterwards, not before.

It has to sync both before and after, that’s how it handles players using multiple devices with the same game and account. It has to ensure before running that it’s using the latest saved game from the cloud.

I don’t think the syncing is anything to do with PG, it seems to be general Xbox Live tech, as AoE II DE syncs across devices in exactly the same way.

I agree. I’ve had other evidence of late to suggest that it’s an xbox/MS problem.

The connection’s been a good deal better of late, although not without occasional disconnections.

The syncing issue seems to rear its ugly head for me about once every six to eight weeks on average, and I’m having another bout with it at the moment (RIP me getting an HSV GTS-R without having to buy one at the AH, and probably the 3 new cars in Series 26 as well.).

When it first happened to me last November/December I tried almost all of the popular fixes and contacted Forza Support, all of which did exactly squat. Then one day after a month or so it (seemingly) randomly decided to work again.

At this point I’m convinced PG doesn’t know how to fix the issue, is convinced it and the other loading- and profile-related bugs aren’t widespread enough within the player base to bother trying to fix it, or both.
