Forza Horizon 4 demo

I’m very surprised my cheap 1060 graphics card can handle the high preset at 1080p/60 very well.

Meanwhile i preordered the ultimate edition.

Hello everybody. I am new on this forum and I am writing because I have problems with the FH4 demo.
I installed on my PC (i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 RAM, GTX 1050 4GB vRAM (not 1050Ti)) and every other game runs perfectly (FM Apex 6, Sea of Thieves, PUBG etc), but with this demo I see a very glitchy and missing terrain (even if the graphics is absolutely perfect and stunning). On the glitchy terrain the car stops very often and then resumes the race.
I was thinking about Nvidia drivers, I reinstalled them with a clean install but nothing changed.
Is there a way to fix this or I should only install it on my Xbox One to avoid the problem? Or wait for MS to patch it? Thank you!

Ehm. You have to take a look at your build or troubleshoot it. Your GPU is quite clearly the bottleneck, looking at your results. My 1070 has significantly higher figures with graphics turned up even more (except for motion blur). The game is on an SSD. Only my stuttercount seems to be significantly worse. What’s stuttercount guys? LUL.

I ran my test at 2160p. You ran it 1080p.

Shet, I’m st00pid. My bad lol.

Is it me or does the Scottish lad (Ben ?) sound a lot like Ralph Fulton ? ahah. Anyway. Great demo, can’t wait to play the game in full xx

Hi to all! Looking at the size of FH4 demo that is 28 GB i was thinking about that: if I download the demo and play it, and then I buy the final version, will I have less GB’s to download?

Also will I start the carreer from 0 or maybe i can reseume from the point i stopped in the demo? Thanks to all who answers to me and sorry for my bad english!

No. The demo and the full game are two separate installations. You will need to download the full version at launch. And nothing from the demo carries over to the full game.

At this point it’s very hard to look at performance issues since you are playing a preview beta. Final release may be a bit more smooth and stable. However that being said your video card is really at the minimum to run 1080p 60 frames. You’ll probably have to set your quality settings to medium to be able to stay near a 60 frame minimum. And I would suspect you’ll still get drops into the 50s. Depending on your budget you should really take a look at a 1080 card. They have dropped in price and sometimes you can see them online in the US at just over $400. For the performance that is the best value of any card out right now.

For reference I own an IT consulting company and have been building custom high-end machines for clients for over 20 years.

I just made a recording for the issue I have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2XOEVD7bd4&feature=youtu.be

Sorry for bad audio (usually it records with very good audio and the audio in-game is absolutely perfect), as you can see it runs at high at 60 FPS with no problem. The only way to carry on the race is to rewind the car…

Thank you for your reply.
I tried to lower the quality but I have the same result. The game automatically sets everything on high and it actually can go with 1080 and 60 fps. The real problem is the stuttering/lack of texture in some parts of the track, analogously like happens in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY8rscOR9Qs

Plus I am running it on a laptop so Ii can’t really upgrade to a GTX 1080, not even an external one (what’s the point though?).
I can run mostly all games at 60 fps at 1080p and Apex doesn’t have that issue (and runs at 1080p 60 fps as well).
Thank you again!

If you are running on a laptop and seeing stuttering that is very likely either the GPU or the CPU throttling because of overheating issues. Gaming laptops really a contradictory design. Trying to max extreme game on any laptop will almost always result in some kind of thermal throttling. That downclocking intermittently to get the CPU or GPU back into its temperature specs will cause frame stuttering for sure. What you should do is get a monitor like hardware monitor ( https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) it’s free on the internet. Open that up leave it running in the background and then run Forza go back to it after a little bit and check the maximum GPU and CPU temperature and see if they were past what the recommended specs are for those chips.

Manufacturers are cramming super powerful CPUs and gpus sometimes into very small laptop chassis with very under engineered thermal designs. People want to have a portable gaming PC but unless you buy one of those really big 17" multifan units that are over $1,500, you can expect you’re going to have some issues when you’re really Crank It Up. I get a kick out of some of the Internet ads… “a brand new light and thin gaming laptop”. Those things cannot happen all at the same time.

No. You will have to download all over again.

The demo does not save any progress at all. If you start the carrer and closes the demo you will have to start over.

Performance mode looks and feels way better than quality mode. The only time quality mode looks better is when you’re stationary. 30fps needs to die soon in videogames. Forza 7 still looks better overall imo. I wish FH4 could run 60fps at native 4k. It’s kinda disappointing that the xb1x has this limitation where there has to be shortcuts made or you have to choose between different graphic modes. Make all games 60 fps at native 4K. Maybe next gen xbox will allow it for all games.

Started the demo downloading when I got home from work yesterday afternoon. 5 hours later when I had to go to bed, it wasn’t done downloading. CURSE YOU, INTERNET!

I didn’t want to download DEMO since I already paid for the ultimate version. Does it have cops chasing speeders this time around? I miss Need For Speed for that reason. It’s more genuine, but that company destroyed the game.

Thankfully, no, it doesn’t have cops chasing speeders around. But it’s impossible to say that there won’t be any events that involve some semblance of a police chase. If the movie stunts line of events has a cliche heist car chase, for instance…

Just fired up the demo and was extremely disappointed to see that even though the game is set in the UK, they couldn’t be bothered to put a right-hand drive version of the McLaren Senna into the game.

As annoying as it’s been having the vast majority of the car roster using LHD cars in RHD drive countries, it was more understandable when the models were imported from the motorsport games. However, in this case it’s a brand new car to the Forza series (and a British one at that) so there’s no excuse here.

The annoying drivatar problem is still present, I’ve been getting hit head-on a lot by drivatars making unsafe passes on the two-lane roads.

Also, why can’t we select the classical music station right from the start?

Overall though it looks like it will be a great game, these particular issues just really annoyed me.

This game is sublime, the optimization is so good. I have a Ryzen 1200 and GTX 970 and I get 60FPS on “Dynamic Optimization Ultra” and 30-55FPS on Extreme Custom, but it seems like a movie so smooth.

Anyone else notice the insane grip level that drag tyre FINALLY has?

The Charger was spinning 1st and 2nd up to redline and with them it actually bogged down and stalled.

I hope this is not a coincidence, I have been dreaming of this forever lol.
