Fun demo. I do wish it were possible to just continue it instead of having to restart each time.
2 things though…
My clutch does not act properly in the demo; I’m using the same deadzone settings as I do in FM7 and FH3, tons of grinding no matter what I do. I’m sure that will be addressed.
Why are all of the guys wearing women’s pants and shoes?
i see many people talking about how well optimized the demo is on pc, but i can’t even go further than the playground games logo… when it does, the game doesn’t accept the “press a/enter to start” command, and all i can do is watch the mclaren senna passing by (without any sound, by the way…). i’m not the only one complaining about it, but i didn’t found any kind of comment on how to fix it, or if the developers are looking at it…
this just gave me bad memories. i pre-ordered the ultimate edition, and i’m really scared of another broken day one experience… only time will tell.
My wired connection was acting up yesterday. Took 4 hours to download the demo using regular wifi, then it froze each time when the season turned winter. Deleted it, re-download with a wired connection, that took one hour. Played this morning and loved it. Try a re-download, it might help
i already did it multiple times, and nothing changed. i hardly doubt this will ever be fixed… my hype reduced a lot because of that.
there’s two weeks until the early access for those who pre-ordered the ultimate edition. i hope i can play the demo at least once to calm down a little… i upgraded my pc just to play this game, but (as i said earlier) i’m afraid of another broken release.
I see everyone enjoys the best performances and graphics on their Xbox one X consoles or PC’s, I’m still with the OG Xbox One. Nevertheless, it looks really good, better then FH3. Not sure about better textures but the ligthing is way better.
The map is great, in my opinion way better than Australia. I enjoyed FH3 but never felt a connection with the map like I had with FH2 and FH. It just didn’t feel right to drive with a supercar through the jungle, desert etc. This feels great with country roads, places where I want to drive in real life. The map is a big plus for me. Definitely gonna buy it!
So by accident the first thing I did was enter photo mode, so figuered why not take a couple pics [the first 2 here: Alvin Lewis | Flickr] and later on a 30 second clip [Forza Horizon 4 Demo - YouTube].
So far I’ve only got these few I guess you could say complaints, but things that I think can be improved on somehow:
~the custom wheels in fh4 not being used again same as in fh3 [there’s the stock rim, then 3 other choices, the first one always gets used as they have the lightest rims, the other 2 never get touched as they don’t have any light rims]
~the large sections of map that don’t seem to have anything on there (no roads but there could be something there we can drive on, plus they take up most of the screen when scrolling there so there must be something there otherwise it’s a waste of map space)
~the lack of option to change the weather from farenheit to celcius
~the end of event white room screens that seem to just take me out of the game as if i’m driving in an ingame simulator rather than in the actual ingame world.
Other than that the demo so far is all good. Looks great, sounds great, menu is cool, map looks decently big. Yeah, looking forward to playing it when it comes out.
I tried the demo (PC), and I just want to say, I was very impressed.
-No performance problems compared to FH3, FM7. Maxed the game out on a GTX 1080ti, i7 4790K (all cores being used), 32GB RAM and had a rock solid 60fps on a 21:9 Ultra Wide monitor.
-The overall physics (driving) feels A LOT better than previous FH games. I don’t want to say, “realistic” since this is an arcade racer, but there appears to be more grip (especially in off road races) and less of the floating feeling… Which I always thought was a lazy way for developers to try and simulate “realism” and artificial difficulty. Certain things in real life are easy to do, or else nobody could / would do them on a regular basis.
-The Drivatars also seemed to have been fixed… At least, for the demo? No crazy cutting checkpoints with no penalty, no inherit boosts or rubber-banding. Granted, this was “Average” (Medium) difficulty, but even in previous FH games, they would still cheat at that level. I experienced nothing of the sort so far. They still slam head on into you while driving on the roads, but their race behavior seems to have been toned down?
Technically, it seems PG had done the right thing and fixed a lot of the complaints from the previous titles?
Subjectively, the game is beautiful and the environments breath taking. It conveys a lazy “Sunday Drive” feeling, but with Super Cars, off road vehicles, etc. That’s a good thing.
I’m cautiously optimistic for the final release, but as a long-time Forza Horizon, Forza Motorsport fan, I would have no trouble buying the full game based on what this demo had to offer.
Anyone know how far the demo goes? Can we get to Autumn in the demo? The game asks if we can wait that long. Is there a time in game to progress or are we at the end of the demo once all the PR stunts show up?
how can you do the autumn event if you have to qualify every time you launch the beta demo from the start when you play on a different day, they say at forza that they don’t store any data from the demo but how does it say that i’m beating one of friends of open roads if it re-launches to the start every time play on a different day. will the online be possible before the launch so we can test it like on forza horizon 3?
this demo is a little short and showing us things we need to see before we buy like how multiplayer will work, and not being able to see the next season work in the demo
I found Hospital in the demo, lol.
P.S. New handling feels weird to me. Cars have more grip and it’s good, but at the same time it’s kinda easy to drive like something is pushing you through the corners. Don’t know how to explain, sorry.
Runs way better than H3 did when it came out. I ran everything COMPLETELY maxed on PC including AA and had no real problem maintaining 60fps at 1080p with a 980TI. The environment, draw distance, night time shadows and lighting are incredible looking with all the extreme settings on and the AA is better than H3 as well. Really amazing looking. I do think it suffers from the same 1803 update curse though. As with my other Forza titles, I can only play for about an hour before things start to slow down. Before that update I could play H3 forever and not have that problem. It’s obviously something on Microsoft’s end that they still refuse to address even after almost six months.
