The difference between GT2 and GT3 are way too similar in terms of pace, having raced around several tracks now. GT3s have a straight line speed advantage, marginally, and the GT2s are better through corners by a small amount. Having raced at 3 tracks, Road America and Mugello, the GT3’s were faster than the 2’s by around 1-6 seconds depending on the car and driver.
The only track I noted at early on was Sunset reverse:
1:30.633 (mine fastest)/ 1:31.877 (next fastest) GT2
1:29.334 (mine) /1:27.857 (session fastest) GT3
Things to change it to (Now or at a later date for next time):
• TransAm instead of GT2 or GT3. We’ve not used them in months after the restructure of the GT division.
• Change any of the classes to TC to add an even bigger element of multi-class racing.
• Implement the Modern Factory Race car division into the GT field, renaming the division to, “Forza GT1” and change either 2 or 3 to it and give us faster cars with more of a spread between them.
I can guarantee once people realise that one group is better to be in than another, most likely GT3 over 2, no one is going to go in it, especially since we’re still allowed to pick what group we race in.
More GT4 cars need to be added too, not to mention the ginetta needing a spot more rebalancing compared to the others. The PI and stat scale is insane compared to the Audi and KTM.
Also, we definitely need to go back to the old way of being given set groups upon joining a lobby, and staying that way until you’ve raced in that group so people don’t just leave the lobby to try again.
I’ve had a similar experience around Hockenheim today. It’s really frustrating having to dance around a class that, if we were to compare it to real racing, should be slower than GT2 cars (refering to it’s last itteration before being axed at the end of 2023, this being GTLM/GTE) over a lap.
There’s a couple of things you brought up i don’t necessarilly agree with but largely because of how the game is right now.
•Switching one of the top classes for Trans-am isn’t gonna do much for diversity as all cars currently in the game build to those regs are DLC only so, just like with GT4, we’d need at least 1 or 2 permantly available options to drive for people that don’t have the Car Pass or want to spend Microsoft pts for the individual car. Ideally GT3 also gets that treatment but that’s a whole different discussion. Back to Trans-Am, make sure they’re put at the front at their normal horsepower or else they’ll just be a similar nuisance when a GT3 is about to pass a GT2.
•Modern Factory racecars are not homoligated to any FIA recognized GT class so it wouldn’t fit in the eligible pool of cars. The GT2 KTM that’s held hostage in that class however should be made available in Forza GT3 but that’s a different discussion.
•I believe another reason that why the GT3 bias is so high currently is with them not being in the weekly rotation right now… And that also begs the question why they put 2 similar FGT series out at the same time, just weird decision making.
•Throwing in the touring cars would definatly be fun for the fastest cars having to pass some traffic on their own. That being said… It wouldn’t be a GT only series anymore then.
That being all said, if the way you described in regards to being assigned a class until you raced in it works like it did in past Motorsport games (this is only my 2nd one and never did much online in FM7 so i can’t say much), i do think that could be a viable solution! It’s sad seing diversity go to waste when everyone jumps into the same class.
This is the first time this playlist reached Featured MP and within 1 race, glaring flaws showed up. They don’t test their stuff. Couldn’t the Forza Insiders validate some of those decisions?
True and everything, but I think it could work. They hold a “GT1” Series in real life using the exact cars from that division. They don’t race in a proper capacity no, I imagine the owners of the cars are a bit skittish on doing so, but there were some that did give it and raced to an extent with others.
(Probably not the best example, there’s one from Catalunya but I can’t remember what year it was, but there were some drivers that were properly going for it with each other )
I’m happy they’ve took into account division separation since it was all clumped into one, but I do wish they’d done it properly. Forza GT2 becoming Forza GTE and actually including some of the cars that do race in the GT2 field in real life. At least then they could give the only actual GT2 something to race instead of doing nothing now (KTM)
Played a couple games all in GT2 and I got a heavy penalty/was pitted in corner 1 in every single match by the mob of GT3 cars at the start. Nothing you can really do because they are on you in seconds
Also there is a Porsche Cayman GT4 (it literally has GT4 in the name of the car, and I’m assuming it’s the same car that is a GT4 in ACC) that should be included but it’s not. Maybe it’s the holidays, but Turn 10 and their run of decent form is starting to fall off.
You’re confusing Porsche’s road car naming with FIA GT racing class structure.
Porsche markets their RS-designed cars with titles like GT4/GT3/GT2 but it’s entirely on their own arbitrary marketing terms, not related to GT classes.
Obviously they have separate racing specs models for their appropriate GT class entries. The one you’re thinking of (that’s in ACC) is the GT4 Clubsport. Totally separate from the GT4 in Forza, hence why it’s not included.
I don’t think we’ll agree on whether or not the GT1 thing is a good idea (perfectly fine to disagree). I always knew GT1 as the series with cars like the C6.R, DBR9, Matech Ford GT, Nissan GT-R (my beloved), Murci R-SV and the class breaking MC12 or go even further back with the racing versions of the CLK GT-R and 911 GT1 roadcar. I’ve seen GT1 sportsclub before but to me it’s just a fancy name for an exhibition run. Still fantastic to see owners use their cars though rather than let them collect dust!
Now, i would agree on rebranding FGT2 to FGTE but not taking in some of the SRO GT2 cars into the pool. SRO GT2 is a completly separate class of car that was and is never ment to go against GTE cars. However, in real life, I’ve seen the Huracan STs and GT2 KTM race against recent GT3s in something like the Dutch Supercar Challenge. We usually also compare the pace of these SRO GT2 cars to GT3s so it makes all the more sense to let SRO GT2 cars race with GT3 cars in FGT3.
Nah no hate, perfectly understandable. It’s just in my eyes I see the old GT1 spec cars from the days of LeMans with the flipping mercedes as the same as the modern factory division. Track toys that would have no other use otherwise.
It may be an extreme but considering there are cars that were finally and unwillingly moved into that class now, it’d be nice to see them return and not just when the MFR division series rolls around every 5 months.
I do agree though, I hope there comes a time we see these cars return but that will take years with how slow they pump out new cars for us compared to horizon. Definitely wouldn’t say no to an old GT1 series with the Aston DBR9 etc making another appearance.
You have no clue how much i’d cry over an FIA GT1 spec series. As much as i can dream, this specific one will never happen. Not because of how slow they pump out new cars, that’s a different matter, but with how hard it is to source the cars.
To my knowledge, you can still find driving examples of a Marc VDS liveried Ford GT (iirc the #40), certainly a Pratt Miller C6.R, a DBR9, definatly multiple MC12s and probably find a Murci R-SV if you can contact SRO boss Stéphane Ratel as he supposedly owns one of the 2 Blancpain liveried cars… But my queen, the GT-R, i don’t think we’ll ever see that in a game again. No clue where the chassis are hiding.
Fun fact : The version of Spa we have in FM currently has a mention of Marc VDS if you know where to look!
I hope they can excuse us for how of the rails this topic has already gone
From what I understand the GT3 and GT2/GTE cars are very similar in pace irl. So I personally don’t see an issue here. As for the mention of GT1 I’m still of the mind of the old SCCA GT1/GTS/AGT/TA mind. To me those are GT1. Although I do enjoy the FIA GT1 cars as well. But that’s just me.
