I know this is fan fiction because the game is abandoned, but there’s a lot of good in this game that could be built upon if Turn 10 decides to revive it. If I were in charge, I’d consider a large paid expansion (think $15-$20) to add a new environment and 3 new cars. Right now, there are ZERO street circuits and the game as a whole lacks some of the soul and uniqueness of previous Forza titles. Right now, other than Fujimi Kaido (which itself is a reprise) there’s nothing NEW about FM to create nostalgia. I’d address these shortcomings with a Forza City Expansion.
The new environment, Forza City, would an urban/industrial environment with six street circuits, all of which are reversible for a total of 12 new tracks. Assuming the demands of dynamic weather/lighting are what have kept us from urban environments so far, these tracks would only be offered with static day and night versions (24 total circuits) with no dynamic weather. I’d also consider not including replays if that’s what was necessary to create a good environment. I think most players would accept these tradeoffs.
The circuits should have 2 short layouts (50-70 seconds in a B class car), 2 medium (90-110 seconds in an S class car), and 2 long (110-130 seconds in a P class car). To add variety to the game, there should be tight, quick corner complexes like the infield at Sunset Peninsula. Because there is no Monza, I’d model one of the long circuits to replicate that key circuit. The longest and most memorable circuit should be named “Anniversary Circuit” to honor Forza’s anniversary. Trackside banners and decorations should include cover art and other references to prior Forza games.
The expansion would come with 3 new open wheel cars, produced a new fictional manufacturer, Forza Motors. The cars would be (1) a low powered wingless car; (2) a 1990s Indy car inspired car; and (3) a halo-less Formula 2 type car. The Forza Motors factory would anchor the industrial section of the new Forza City track environment.
The expansion would come with 30 new career tours, 10 each in 3 categories:
- Club Cups - series on shorter tracks most suitable for Class E, D, and C cars
- Support Cups - series on full circuits most suitable for B, A, S cars
- Feature Race Cups - series on full circuits and enough laps to be suitable for R, P, and X cars
Crucially, the 30 cups would be open to ANY car and the field would be auto-generated by division. So if you want to run all 30 events with the same car, you could do so. Themes for the cups should reflect different locations, rules, and call attention to the fictional companies in the game (e.g., Hyosun Japan cup, Turbopod Night Cup, Flowzoil Florida Cup, West Mirage Ovals Cup, Multimodal Mandatory Pit Cup, etc.).
Overall, I think an expansion like this would really polish off the game and leave a much better lasting impression on the community. The beauty of Fujimi Kaido suggests that the team could have produced a really solid street circuit environment if given the chance. Right now, the anniversary doesn’t feel like it was properly honored, so one last, all-in, shot would be great. Thanks for reading.
