I got 4 at launch and traded it in within a week. Later, playing 5 at a friend’s house gave me the itch to play Forza, so I grabbed 4 on the cheap as a complete/GotY edition. I’d play it, get annoyed at it, visit my friend and play 5 and get even more annoyed at 4… Eventually, 5 being so much better than 4 in direct practical comparison is what pushed me to break down and get an XBOne. But, to be fair, 1 may be worse - I’m not sure I played it. I only know I played 2 because it’s in my history (apparently too forgettable, at least, to be the worst).
Your points are valid but since it doesn’t sound like you played FM5 at launch and didn’t play much of FM4, I don’t think you have the complete picture.
FM4 is fondly remembered for a few reasons. If you were a multiplayer fanatic, there was a vote to kick feature for getting rid of troublesome players and tons of different lobbies to choose from. If you were a tuner and/or painter, you could have your own storefront to sell your tunes, paint jobs and decals for CR. Top Gear was first implemented. ForzaVista was brand new. Drivatars were new. I can’t remember but I think Rivals first came out in 4 as well. Physics were improved upon as well since in FM3 AWD cars were nearly unbeatable.
FM5 looked and sounded better for sure. I also liked the physics more than FM4.
The problem with FM5 was that it was an Xbox One launch title and severely rushed. It was buggy, crashed, was prone to audio glitches and multiplayer barely worked. Also, it had less cars, tracks and well, content than FM4 did. Everything that was wrong with FM5 was fixed with patches, DLC and eventually FM6.
For me, FM5 was the worst Forza because it was rushed, buggy, had less content, features and by then T10 should have known better. I give them a pass on FM1 because it was their first.
FM7 has the potential to be great. But before that can happen, T10 has to fix the bugs in multiplayer, address the troll problems and restore the Class-based system.
I missed FM5 ad FM6 (no Xbox One because ££££), but played FM2, 3 and 4, and FH1 all on 360 and FH3 on PC. I have to say that so far I like FM7. It looks gorgeous, runs fairly smoothly (at least on my PC) and makes things a little fairer imho. It’s not perfect by any means, and there’s some tweaking to do with some of the gameplay, but overall I have to say that it is pretty darn good. Obviously we have to wait for the devs to actually finish the game and make all of the features available, but it at least shows some promise. Only time will tell on the rest though ;0)
FM7 is trash because Ultimate Purchasers got a product that was 30% finished. The Single Player is nice but everything else sucks. Is it the worst Forza game in the series? No. That award goes FM5.
And for the people saying get over it. I’m glad you liking wasting money on crappy products and being lied to.
Please enlighten us on how you were lied to. The actual on track driving is the best of the series. True the multiplayer stuff isn’t fleshed out yet but I am willing to wait on that. Saying the game is only 30% finished is ridiculous. If you weren’t sure the game was going to have everything you wanted at launch why not wait and make an informed purchasing decision?
Because reading reviews and E3 articles, and watching first play videos were the factors I needed.
Why I say 30% Because Multiplayer is not and probably never will be finished, Auction House isn’t even ready, VIP is still screwed up/non existent, and game play still sucks.
I’m enjoying FM7. With AI set to unbeatable and races set to long, I have no problem at all having clean races with the AI. If you set the race length to short and are convinced that you have to take 1st, you’ll definitely be bashing your way to the front.
The game does have it’s problems, but I still can’t stop playing it.
I returned the game, but not because of the AI
When I had it, I ran the AI difficulty up and the races long too, and didn’t (for the most part) have a lot of issues with poor AI. There was a race on Sebring I think were they were pretty aggressive around the 1st turn, but a restart later, I just made my way to the inside and took a defensive line until the cars thinned out a bit. I’d say it’s no worse or better than Project cars 2. My issues were with missing modes/content. I found the physics decent and the SP races reasonably fun.
I just cannot believe they wouldn’t develop their AI to able to respond properly when Jim Bob decides to turn around and drive backwards on the track. They should respond the same as the players
in multiplayer races when Jim Bob does it there! This is an outrage! How is he suppost to practice disrupting races under these conditions!
The thing about this edition of forza that drives me to wanting to murder baby seals is that if you throw away everything that isnt a car or a track in this game it may very well be the best console racer ever made by a significant margin. The physics feel incredible, 4k locked 60fps everything ultra looks near real on many tracks… hockenheim ring sunset in the rain for example is stunning.
But then literally everything about the menus, multiplayer, singleplayer, pc and console stability, lobbies, no ability to turn off your mic, no ability to mute trolls or kids, no social features at all available at launch. General ignorance of the issues by the developer, no stance on any of the key issues to fans that have existed since the transition from fm2 to fm3 other than locking or deleting posts on those topics. It’s so bad it almost has to be intentional. I feel more like a lab rat playing fm7 than a gamer.
FM2 and FM4 are the best and most complete in the series, in fm7 i like better how the cars feel and dont mind the homologation system, single player is also better but everything else -or the lack of- is placing it low in my fm list.
That’s why everyone has a complete different opinion. FM5 had FM4 beat in graphics but it to me feels so empty, so lacking in content. FM4 is the big social and multiplayer entry in the series which is what some people want. FM7 so far is the best single player entry in the series which is what others want.
So if you look at the base parts of the game FM7 is not the worst Forza. It has a long way to go on PC and I would have never in a million years bought it day one on PC but on console it is one of the best games in the series and once the modes are fleshed out and things like auction house added, it should be the best.
That’s pretty legit, its a big game, lots of features, different people like different things, the issue i see with that list is that none of those ratings are in order… how is it that the series doesnt move forward yet just makes lateral hops between what the focus is on? they should all be fm7 at #1 and getting progressively worse as you move back in time but literally nobody thinks that is the case.
For what it’s worth, the multiplayer was quite simple in FM2, just public custom lobbies that counted towards driver rank, you had a search feature that looked exactly like the lobby customization feature and you could search on anything you could customize and find similar players and race with them and it counted towards your online progression. For me and many others this is the best feature forza ever had, may of us met our core group of forza friends on this mode, and loved the freedom and functionality and the ability to have a mostly troll free experience online. It was removed in 3 and spawned the single biggest thread for a feature i have ever seen in a forum which was deleted and restarted countless times long before launch even happened on fm3. Many have probably seen CPL referenced by OG’s in threads here, thats what they are referring to. I’d buy two copies of the game right now and give one to a friend if they just put this one feature back, even if it meant we didnt earn credits in this mode.
What was up with the map in FM5 before every race? That was a huge step down from FM4’s world map view. The menus in 5 just seemed so empty, like you had a bare minimum of tracks and cars and that was it. If people think credit earnings in FM7 are bad, FM5 is horrific. I got the game free with Games With Gold long after release and relied heavily on saved Forza Reward credits.
This game is a mess and in beta and I paid $100 to be a tester ? No I paid too much for a broken crap fest with new driver suits and 35% not even accessible yet. You can’t even enjoy the paint botth cause that’s broken too ! Nice Turn 10 way to go your game runs worse than The Division did on its release day . Lol you should be ashamed …
The AI in these games has always been bad, especially once they created the drivatar system. Homologation will always be a matter of opinion but it was something that was asked for by a lot of people on these very forums. How ironic don’t you think? For me, I don’t find it that bad and I like cars of the same division racing each other. Having GT cars racing Nascars and Bugatti’s in random freeplay feels weird to me.
I judge a game by its handling physics and to date, this game has the best handling physics from a controller perspective bar none! If your game is crashing it’s because you were suckered into the digital or PC edition - get the console edition on disk and you will experience almost no crashes at all. In regards to AI, some of them are programmed to impeded your progress as you race ahead to conquer the AI in position one, but this is something that can be overcome with some practice. But no, this game has the best handling physics and it will take some time for me to master it, that’s why I’m playing quick races with the AI and trying various cars with their distinct characteristics. Totally precise physics IMO. The only other racing game that comes close to this game is F1 2017, by Codemasters !!! Great Job Turn 10 and a fantastic game. Now where are the missing tracks (Belle Isle Park and Mid Ohio!!!). MORE TRACKS PLEASE!!!
